Turning around upon hearing the sound of an oddly familiar voice, Dart ceased her lazy grazing to look for the one who spoke. A ruddy red pelt emerged from the vibrant green foliage, Dart's ears swiveling forward as she recognized the individual at once. It was Tod, the fox ! He had aged finely, his adult fur coat coming in with a healthy sheen. Though. . . What was Tod doing here in the woods ? Where was Widow Tweed. . . ? ❝ Oh my goodness, Tod ! it sort of goes against the nature of any prey animal, deer specifically, to be loud, demanding, passionate, or vocal. you're supposed to lie low, and move through life with a wistful, mysterious grace. but dart was never any of those things, even as a fawn— and she paid for it. . . yet she also gained from it. falling into numerous traps due to her clumsiness and tomfoolery, abandoned by her peers and family because of her unruly demeanor, chastised for her inability to conform to everyone else's standards. . . dart certainly lost favor with lots of folk from her fiery personality, but she has also made many friends because of it. she's even established herself a position in her forest's hierarchy because of her positive influence on the forest community and its state of affairs. she has seen the duality of life, the good and evil of both men and animal, and has used that knowledge for the betterment of all, not for helpless fear mongering. the old ways of the forest no longer served her, and deep down, dart understood those laws failed many others as well. it's taken a long time for her to feel comfortable in her own skin, to feel confident enough to speak up on things. despite how much everyone around dart wanted her to be quiet, she could never stay silent.

yes she does ! i'd say every time she sleeps she dreams. she can even find some sort of meaning in the majority of them. dart experiences a myriad of dreams and visions. . . i couldn't just pick one, so here's a few of the most recurring types of dreams dart has ;

❧ 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐎𝐌 ☙ these are the dreams that dart loves the most, running through endless ethereal fields and forests tirelessly, like an invincible crimson whirlwind. these dreams hold no fear, nor desires, they are just simply freeing, fleeting dreams that tend to visit dart's subconscious when she's feeling happy and safe in her body, mind, and soul. they're often poignantly colorful, in a way that allows her to determine an emotional meaning based on color theory alone. subliminally, dart can pick up on subtle cues through these dreams and wakes up feeling more prepared and positive than she had before.

❧ 𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐅𝐔𝐋 ☙ commonly occurring night terrors that befall dart on the darkest of evenings. . . these dreams prey upon dart's personal insecurities and deepest fears, tending to dredge up current issues she's dealing with or past trauma that hasn't been fully resolved. recurring themes include ; being forgotten, becoming lost, falling prey to human traps and deer calls, running from wolves or other predators, and losing those she loves the most in horrific ways. all of these are things dart has actually experienced, and isn't just the far off fears of a young fawn, but the grisly grief of a doe that's seen way too much.

❧ 𝐅𝐀𝐖𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 ☙ daydreaming or sleeping, these dreams visit dart on occasion to bring her joy and perspective. happy, nostalgic, melancholic, these dreams embody the relationships dart has made along the way. they are all a part of her story, as she is a mosaic of everyone she has ever loved. childhood loves and friends, juvenile drama and romance, the depths of her adult soul mixing with others. experiencing amazing friendships as she grew up, having a few one-way unrequited loves in her years, then finding herself falling deeply in love repeatedly. . . she is the embodiment of a frolicking, passionate, playful love that does not just demand your respect, but your quirkiness as well.
