Vick threw his head back with a loud laugh. Only Autumn could make him laugh like that, as he never knew what was going to come out of the girl’s mouth. “Yeah, pretty much. Jesus Christ, that was a very visual image.” He watched her eat the taco, glad that she didn’t take much coaxing - not that she ever would. “Hot enough to destroy your asshole?” he teased. “That’s the plan. I think I need to tone it down a little, though. I wouldn’t want to set anyone’s mouths on fire. Have the whole thing if you want.” He got up and got two beers out of the fridge behind the counter, throwing her a wink as he set one in front of her. “How’s life, anyway? Any girls for me to be jealous of?” He knew he would never get with Autumn and he respected her sexuality, but it didn’t mean he couldn’t partake in some harmless flirting. 

“I hope you enjoyed it as much as I’m enjoying this food, you give me the food, I give you the graphic images. This is why we’re a match made in heaven.” Autumn grinned as she carried on eating the rest of the taco he’d given her in a few bites, it really was delicious. He had some serious skills when it came to food craftsmanship. Plus it was free which never hurt. “You going to put that in the advertising campaign for the restaurant as well? I think it would really pull people in if you did. Just make sure you have lots of milk on standby because the Karens of this town will be complaining to the manager they have no more tastebuds.” She didn’t need to be told twice, eating the last two bites in quick succession with what can only be described as a flourish. Apparently Summer hadn’t gotten all the Austin flair for the dramatics. “Girls? You know me, I’m constantly spinning the lazy suzan of….lazy Susans…” She narrowed one of her eyes as she tried to decipher what she meant even as it was coming out of her mouth, coming up empty. “No, scrap that, it was word vomit. Not really loads though, although you’ll never guess who I saw in the bar the other night. Athena. I guess she’s back in town.” Vick knew how she felt about her ex, and how much she would constantly beat herself up for breaking up with her a while back.

“Because one of us has to have a level head.” She said, though she leaned into the other as well. She hadn’t seen Autumn since their break up and she really wasn’t over it. How could she be over it? The woman before her was her first love and the only one she ever wanted. She only wanted her beside her through everything and while the pain of not being with her was still so fresh and it ached being near her, she didn’t want to go away either. “You always are with me.” She commented and it was the truth. The beauty was always everywhere to her and always would be. Her heart fluttered with the words and she took the other’s hand before leading her over to the bar. “Remember what I like?”

“Where is the fun in that though?” Autumn couldn’t help but notice that despite the words coming out of the other girl’s mouth she was still leaning forward to sat them, so close that she could smell her perfume. The same one Athena had worn back when they were dating, it was enough to make her head start to swim. “Mm…as it should be. You smell good by the way, sweet.” She murmured with her lips right next to her ex’s ear, feeling her heart stop when her hand slipped into hers, not expecting the contact, but she was no way in hell going to pull away. Instead she just gave her hand a light squeeze to go with her cheeky smirk, shrugging her shoulders. Arriving at the bar she leant over to it to get the attention of the woman working behind it. “Two orange dreamsicle cocktails with vodka, thanks.” Before turning to look back at Athena. “Smirnoff ice seemed a bit basic for a fancy bar, don’t you think?”

Location: Hilltop Cafe Time: Early Afternoon Open To: [ @autumnrpg​ ]

All she wanted to do was sit in a cafe and read her damn book, was that really too much to ask? Instead, there was some loud-mouthed barbie brat simply demanding attention right in the middle of the cafe. She sighed and closed her book, deciding there was no point continuing until the distraction had left the building. When she finally did, all she could do was shake her head, catching a girl’s eye at the table next to her. “Did somebody snort Es this morning or is she always that intolerable?” She knew she was forgetting herself momentarily, but the brat had really ruined her mood. 

Once Summer had decided she was done being a fucking loudmouth as per usual she finally left the cafe with her overly complicated coffee order that she absolutely did not need. If anything the girl should be on a caffeine timeout after that little display, maybe for years. Still, catching the eye of a girl next to her she shook her head with a roll of her eyes, feeling ever suffering. “Doubt it, the letter E is far too high in the alphabet for her to even know let alone source drugs named after it.” The blonde scoffed, taking a gulp from her coffee. “Most likely she’s just high on her own self inflated ego, she has been since birth I’m afraid to tell you.”

Leyla sighed heavily at the woman sitting on the steps and rolled her eyes. “Did you see the woman or not? A simple yes or no would really suffice.” She didn’t have time to have some pointless conversation with someone intentionally trying to antagonize her. Or maybe if Clara Henderson was standing up her court date she had all the time in the world. “And for the record, any neck tattoos are too many but this lady has like four. And one of them is an extremely anatomically correct portrait of Jesus.” She really needed to stop taking defense cases now that she had been promoted to assistant district attorney. Her days of defending people who were obviously guilty were supposed to be over.

Autumn widened her eyes, shrugging her shoulders, because she’d been watching people for a while but actually hadn’t noticed anyone with considerable neck tattoos. She wasn’t inspecting necks really, which was surprising since as a teenager she’d been a big fan of Twilight. More for Bella than Edward or Jacob she’d eventually discovered. “Anatomically correct portrait of Jesus? Shit, well you can give her props for being bold I guess, right? I wouldn’t say any number of neck tattoos is too many, no one really gave you the monopoly on deciding where they could put their tattoos, but go off I guess. I haven’t seen your little friend anyway, chances are she didn’t want you judging her ink choices so she never showed.” She laughed.

Hearing her suggestion she happened to agree, especially on the fry rule. Growing up her and her father ate out a lot, mainly because he didn’t know how to cook. Whitney basically grew up having fries with every single meal. Some people might get tired of that, but they continued to be one of her favourite foods. Right as she was about to respond, Autumn spoke up and then she was gone. Whitney kept her green hues locked on the woman as she sat down at a booth. A few minutes later she slipped into the seat across from her, putting her food on the table. “I went for the BLT with fries and a vanilla milkshake as suggested by you.” She grabbed one of her fries to dip it into her drink before popping it into her mouth, her narrowed gaze staying on Autumn the entire time. “So, what kind of fun are you thinking?” 

When Whitney slipped into the booth opposite her the blonde looked up with a grin, popping a now cold ry into her mouth, a nod of approval when she heard the other’s order. “You can’t go wrong with bacon and fries, or milkshakes really. If I was you I’d have added cheese to that BLT but I’m also of the opinion that the more filthy the sandwich is the better. Nothing is worth eating unless there is the chance it will give me a heart attack on the spot.” Watching her carefully as she dipped her fry in the drink just as autumn had instructed, letting her eyes wander across her face before moving down to her chest shamelessly for a second, checking her out. “Hmm? Oh, well first we fuel up, that is key. then I was thinking maybe the beach? I don’t have my swimsuit with me but who cares right? Underwear is basically a swimsuit right?”

“I’m not trying to be funny, babe. You walk around as if the world is holding you back, but it’s really just you. So yeah, there’s a ‘woe is me’ act going on.” No-one frustrated Summer quite like her little sister did, but she always tried her best to keep her cool, even if she made it hard for her. She felt a twist in her stomach at Autumn’s words. They echoed her husband’s. About how she was a failure; how she would achieve nothing. “I’m not a failure, Tummy,” she said, trying to keep herself composed. “The fact that I actually tried to achieve something means I’m not a failure. I did more with my life than you’ve done. Have you ever even left this town? Seen the world? Met people who weren’t from North Carolina? I don’t think I’m the one who is a failure, babe.” She shot her sister a look when she moved the chocolates but didn’t say anything, folding her arms instead. “I told you, I’m here to see you. It’s something I regret a little bit now because I was having such a nice day before you brought me down with all of your bad energy, but mom wanted me to stop by.” She jumped off the counter and let out a dramatic sigh. “I want us to get along, Tummy. It’s weird that we’re grown adults and we can’t have a conversation without it turning into a fight. I don’t know what your problem is with me, but I think you should try to overcome it. I know a great therapist if you want me to hook you up.”

“I don’t think the world is holding me back, right now it’s actually sheer willpower that’s holding me back from giving you a smack, but apart from that…” Autumn kept her eyes on her sister with her arms folded, kissing her teeth with her tongue. This whole encounter was getting old fast. There was something in the other girl’s eyes that showed hurt though, which was enough for the blonde to feel like she had the upper hand, leading to a smirk on her lips. Rarely something she ever felt around the older girl, especially if their parents were also resent. “If people from outside of North Carolina are anything like you I don’t think I want to meet them, although you were an asshole before you left for New York so maybe I’m being hard on literally the whole of the rest of the world. Maybe if you stick around here long enough I will go out and see the rest of the world just to get away, you’ll have done me a favour by failing miserably at your career of choice. Does it bother you that it was such a public one as well? Like, you chose something in front of people’s eyes and therefore they watched you fall on your ample ass. So amusing.” Laughing softly for good measure, she had to take her kicks where she could get them, insulting Summer’s butt size was super childish but it had amused her anyway. “So you came because mom wanted you to, not because you made the choice yourself. Also can you stop fucking calling me that, it’s such a dumb nickname, it wasn’t even smart when we were kids.” Her arms were still crossed, now a frown on her face as well. The implication she needed to see a therapist stabbing her in the chest, she probably did but not for the reason her sister thought. “My problem? I’m not the one with a fucking problem, you are the one with….well more than one actually let’s be honest. I’m not surprised you know a therapist but if they’re helping you then I think you’re proof they are not in fact, great.”

She looked into her eyes and felt all the things she always did with Autumn. Everything was still there. All she wanted to do now was dance close to her. Be close to her again. Especially that day. This was the first she saw her in so long and she didn’t like that. Athena wanted to see her always. “I’m not surprised.” She said a little loudly to talk over the music as they swayed a little bit together now. “I didn’t think I had to tell you, Auttie. We’re not together.” The words spilling from her lips made her ache and she wished she could take them back. “You know now anyways. I didn’t know you were here.” If she had, she’d probably have avoided this place and gone somewhere else. To save herself from this feeling of longing for the other. “Buy me a drink?”

Even with the frantic club around them the second Athena looked eyes with her it was like everything around the blonde’s melted away. Sure it might sound corny, but Autumn couldn’t help how her ex made her feel, and if she hadn’t broken up with her out of fear  they may well still be together, so who was to blame here? She knew she had made her own bed. Maybe the club didn’t require for her to clean in quite as close as she chose to, but she was going to do it anyway, just needing to be close to her. “Ah, you see, I had managed to forget that for a second. Why did you have to remind me and pull me out of a fantasy world I was enjoying?” Licking her lips she smirked. “I’m like oxygen, I’m everywhere.” gesturing around herself before throwing a wink at the other. “I’ll buy you the whole bar if that’s what you want, princess. Lead the way.” It was so easy to be confidant, to be herself when she was around Athena. Even the trauma in her recent past didn’t change that and that in itself was a comfort. That she still had that effect on her.

closed started for @autumnrpg​ at the Pit Stop

Summer was Athena’s favorite month. The heat, the beach, the parties. She always loved it and it made her feel alive; something she strived to feel as often as she could being the last of the Vander family alive. She tried her hardest not to think about it, but some days were hard. Like today. It would’ve been her brother’s birthday and it was still strange to her she was older than both would ever be. She couldn’t stay cooped up in her place or she’d just go crazy, so she got ready and went out to the Pit Stop for some drinks. She was a few in now and was dancing with someone when she turned and bumped into another. Making eye contact with the person, she felt like it was karma for something when she saw it as no one other than her ex, Autumn. “Crashing the party or looking to join, babe?”

Autumn liked to go out it he evening, it was her time to let her hair down and forget about her issues in life - of which there were plenty. Some self inflicted but others not, the girl was fighting some demons that was for sure. Spinning around on the dance floor after at least four shots she suddenly had the need to go to the bathroom, stopping stock still to head across towards the ladies. It was only as she was weaving her way through the dance floor she bumped into a familiar girl. Honestly, as stupid as it sounded Autumn didn’t even need to look at Athena’s face to know who it was. She’d spent long enough in the blonde’s presence to become familiar with every inch of her body. “Always crashing, makes it much more fun than being invited.” All need to go to the bathroom was completely forgotten. “You’ve come back, didn’t think to let little old me know?” She asked, having to lean in towards her ex in order for her to hear the words over the loud music.

“God, Tummy, when are you going to get over this whole ‘woe is me’ act? When I go away you hate me because I don’t call, but when I do come back I’m the worst person in the whole wide world. I don’t think I’m the one who is unhinged here, babe,” Summer said with a small chuckle. She truly never understood what went on inside her sister’s head. “Would you have preferred that I stayed in this town and rotted away? At least one of us had to try and achieve something, and it surely wasn’t going to be you. You’ve got about as much ambition as a dead slug.” She scoffed, jumping up to sit on the counter beside the chocolates and eating another one. “I wasn’t told no at auditions, thank you very much. I was just told that my voice and style suited characters that were not in the musicals. There’s a difference.” A shade of hurt crossed her face before she morphed her lips into a smile. “Aw, babe. You really think I’d make a good stripper? I do have the legs for it,” she muttered as she stretched her long legs out, pretending to contemplate the career for a brief moment. 

“Yeah, the woe is me act is something I do. You’re hilarious, really.” Autumn scoffed with a shake of her head, wondering when her sister would stop being delusional about…well a lot of things in her life, but she didn’t have the energy to list them for her right now. “I mean, no of course not, I would never have wanted you to stay and rotted away, it was honestly much more entertaining to watch you come back as an embarrassment to yourself as a failure. So thank you, for providing me with a lot of entertainment.” Pointedly looking at the chocolate box she was tucking into and then back up at her sister with a raised eyebrow, the blonde tilted her head to the side slightly, smirking. “Yeah, characters that weren’t in any of the musicals because they’re none singing characters. They’re mimes.” Taking hold of the chocolates she put the lid back on them, moving them out of Summer’s reach. Just because she had no interest in eating them it didn’t mean she was going to let her sister have the pleasure. She would give them to someone else she actually liked at some point.  “I mean….yeah you have legs I guess.” Turning to look at her she leant against the counter crossing her arms. “So, what do you want? Why are you here if you were so intent on giving me space or whatever shit you spouted as an excuse a second ago?”

“Come on, you have to try this one,” Vick said as he placed another plate of food in front of the victim. He was always coming up with new recipes, and he got whoever he could grab at the time to try them out for him. Some were successful, and some were…A touch ambitious. “This is a taco but it’s got curried chicken inside with a hell of a lot of spice. I think it’s my best one yet,” he grinned as he sat opposite the person, eagerly waiting for their reaction. “What do you think?”

Vick was speaking to her as though she was going to need to be coaxed to eat whatever he put in front of her but really he should know better by now. The blonde would eat anything, especially if it was free. “A hell of a lot? So what you’re saying is this is the one that is going to destroy my asshole worse than  a drag queen at pride?  Good to know that going in.” Picking up the food she took a large bite, chewing silently for a couple of seconds before the spice hit, making her eyes widen. “Fuck me, that is hot as hell. It’s good though. You putting it on the menu?”

OPEN starter at the shopping center @asteriastarters​

There was no one in this world that Dominque loved more than her daughter, Ivey. She would do anything for her, and that included coming out to the shopping center and trying to find a spaghetti ladle that looked like a dinosaur that the girl saw on Dom’s phone. They had been wandering the shops for a while and were again circling the kitchen section of one, but this time, Ivey was asleep with her blanket and stuffed dog under her arms while the mother looked over different ladles. She noticed someone standing nearby and she sighed. “Excuse me. Do you think if I painted this to look like a dinosaur, she’d believe it’s the one she saw on my phone?”

Autumn kind of loved cooking. Was she good at it? Not really, she tended to burn at least one element of any meal she cooked, but that didn’t stop her from trying over and over. Maybe it was the cute kitchen equipment you could buy that actually drew her attention, and by cute she meant shaped like a novelty item. Hell she had taught herself to make zucchini because she’d seen a machine shaped like an alien than would help with it. The blonde didn’t even like zucchini - needless to say it now sat unused in one of the kitchen cupboards. Turning to the woman next to her she wrinkled her nose, tilting her head to one side, squinting for good measure. “Depends…is she half blind? You know they make ladles that actually look like dinosaurs right?”

“Um, no, Autumn. Believe it or not, the first thought in my head as soon as the plane touched down here wasn’t ‘I better go see Tummy’. I’m an adult and I have things to do. I’m here now, aren’t I? And I have all the time in the world for you.” It was sometimes exhausting being the sibling who had their life together. Even though it seemed that she was pretending that she did more than anything. “Besides, I thought you were heavily annoyed by my very presence. I thought I was doing you a favour by giving you some space.” She stood and made her way into the kitchen area, opening the box of chocolates she had bought her sister and putting one in her mouth. At her sister’s words she shot her a cold glare. “I am not having a mid-life crisis. I’m not even old enough for one of those. I’m simply…Rejuvenating and purging my surroundings. The Japanese do it all the time, they call it fun shay or something,” she shrugged and ate another chocolate. “Have you gotten a real job yet?”

“Imagine that, imagine the idea of going to see your sister being one someone might have when they get back to town after fuck knows how long. Madness. You’d have to be truly unhinged to think that! Which is weird, because I’m pretty sure you are.” She muttered the last sentence to herself as she tossed the chocolate onto the counter, not giving it a second look, of course she shouldn’t have expected her sister to have changed since the two of them last crossed paths. A cosmic shift that big would be world ending. “I a, trust me, but don’t you think being away chasing what you call ‘dreams’ was enough space?” Opening the fridge of her admittedly small apartment she grabbed a half drunk bottle of coke, scoffing, a shake of her head. “Yeah okay champ, and I’m the newest member of the New York Ballet.” At the mis pronunciation of feng shui she grinned to herself, wondering if maybe an age old mistake was finally being shown, she wasn’t in fact the biggest idiot in the Austen family. “What, a job more real than being told no at auditions? Nah. Pretty sure I’ll leave the big career moves to you. What is your latest one by the way?” Crossing her fingers she squeezed her eyes shut as if she was making a wish. “I’ve got $5 on stripper, so please don’t let me down! Mama needs to buy herself a fancy coffee in the morning.”

“You have got to be fucking kidding me.” Leyla’s heels clicked against the concrete as she walked out of the courthouse and turned her head to look down both ends of the sidewalk. Her client hadn’t show up today in court and was most certainly going to lose this case because of it. This is why she rarely took on defense cases anymore because it was much easier to be on the side of the prosecutor sometimes. “Hey have you seen a tall woman with red hair and more neck tattoos than anyone should ever have? She was supposed to be here an hour ago and the judge is about to dismiss her case and I swear to god I am going to lose my mind if she just ghosted me.”

Autumn was minding her business on the steps of the courthouse with a coffee when she heard a woman getting obvious annoyed, so much so that she was talking to herself. Glancing over her shoulder so she could get a better look the blonde managed to accidentally attract her attention which wasn’t what she had intended, but now it was too late. Looking at her with raised eyebrows there was a shadow of a smile playing on her pink lips as she answered the question in a deliberately annoying fashion. “Depends what you think is ‘too many’ neck tattoos. I mean, arm you’re probably talking … well is there even too many? But face I would argue more than….two is too many. So neck is like no mans land for tattoo numbers. I’m going to need you to narrow it right down for me.” She gave her a potentially annoyingly sweet smile, tilting her head to the side a bit.

“We both know I was too man for you and that’s how you ended up being a raging lesbian.  You knew there was nothing better after me.”  The nice thing about Autumn, she was not high maintenance, the two could just relax and ask the most random questions to one another.  “Is soy a bean?  I dunno, I think those are two different things.”  Granted, Tony didn’t know anything about anything.  “Wow, if you’re right that is crazy.  I don’t drink coffee a lot, because my mom says it gets me too hyper.”  At the mention of her sister, he raised a brow.  “Nah, let’s not mess with Summer.  She can beat me up and she always knows it is us who is calling her.”  At the mention of his siblings, he took a moment.  “Damn, Tara is a no cause she is too grown up.  Evan maybe, probably best not to call Reagan and Sloane has been weird.  She went off on me for wanting to be with Esmay and then stormed out of my apartment.  It was a lot.  Oh I know!  Let’s fuck with Peter.”

“Too man for me? No no no, I think it was because you weren’t man enough and the crippling disappointment you caused was too much to cope with. I knew I would get that over and over if I stayed dating men.” Turning to look at him with narrowed eyes she laugh snorted, nodding her head. “Yeah, a soybean. It’s a fucking thing. Trust.” She wasn’t the brightest bulb in the box admittedly, she would be the first to admit that, but there were some things the girl did know. Random facts that would probably never come in handy. “Oh my god same.” She screeched, flinging her arm out to the left as she heard something that mirrored her own experience, laughing loudly. “Fucking same! Apparently it makes me too fast. Weird. They are total spoilsports. Kinda like you right now, you think Summer can beat you up and I wouldn’t protect you from her? Maybe I got this friendship all confused then.” Shoving another chip into her mouth she chewed on it loudly waiting for him to talk himself through all the options in his family. “Who the fuck is Esmay? I don’t think you ever mentioned here a million times...” She asked with a raised eyebrow, the other one joining it soon after. “You think he’s dumb enough to buy it? Because summer totally is, that’s why I suggested her first.”

Whitney walked into the diner with the smell of wood on her clothes and even a few wood chips caught in her hair. She had spent the entire day finishing a chair for a very demanding client in Williamsburg. Usually she would have showered before stepping out in public, but her grumbling stomach won that battle. While she was waiting at the counter she felt a bump to her hip and her eyes popped up to see who was behind the movement. She sent Autumn a smile and a giggle even escaped at her words. “Thanks for the tip.” She replied while her hues scanned the menu. It was easy to know who Autumn was considering she was one of the few other gay people in Asteria. In fact, Whitney secretly looked up to her since part of the reason why she came out in high school was because of Autumn. She was a few years older and she saw the confidence she had in herself and she admired that. The sound of her stomach broke her small train of thought and refocused on food. “What do you recommend? I know that it’s not the clam chowder.” She asked, thinking about changing it up from her usual burger and fries. 

Honestly, Autumn hadn’t even noticed that Whitney hadn’t been able to shower since being at work. Sure she had a slightly dishevelled look about her but it was in the cutest way ever. Grinning as she giggled in her cute little way the blonde nodded as if to say ‘don’t mention it’ before turning to look at the menu as well. Resting her chin on her hands as she waited for Whitney to decide on her choice, laughing without being able to stop herself at the (very loud) sound of her stomach rumbling, as hers had been about half an hour ago when she walked in as well. Only made worse by the smell of food after all. “Me? Pfftt…depends what you’re in the mood for. I always go for something with fries because as we both know they do the best fries here like…anywhere. So you’re never steered wrong. Plus if you get a milkshake you can drip them in it, which is always a fucking win.” Then again there weren’t many food combinations Autumn wouldn’t at least give a try and likely enjoy, she was weird like that. Knocking on the counter a couple of times she pushed herself up into a standing position again, shooting the other a cheeky smirk. “When you’ve ordered you should come join me, yeah? We can have some fun.” Before heading to the booth she had vacated moments earlier where half her meal still sat.

~ Running into an old friend with @autumnrpg​ ~

Most people around town knew Wes as the idiot who hung around with Tanner. For some reason, he was the only one who stayed friends with the guy who was known as the biggest scumbag in Asteria. Perhaps it was because he was too stupid to realize all of the wrong that Tanner had done. Or perhaps it was because he was born to be loyal, no matter how bad a person was. Loyalty was a big thing for Wes, but it seemed that his loyalty often fell into the wrong hands. 

One day while he was playing basketball, he noticed a familiar face walk by. He had known Autumn for many years and of course he was suspicious when she had stopped being in their friend circle. He was clueless as to what had happened and in reality, he missed his friend. Wes ran up to the fence with a wide, goofy grin plastered on his face. “Autumn.” He called out to get her attention. “Are you up for some one on one? You still owe me that rematch from years ago and I’m cashing it in now.”
