i find it so interesting how people who ship zutara claim to love katara but are quick to call her every misogynistic name in the book under the pretense of criticism and undermine her achievements as is. they were doom-posting about the legend of aang movie before leaks, spreading lies that she was nothing but a "book-tok" girlfriend, only to be proven wrong yet again as katara plays a significant role throughout the movie. you barely see them acknowledging her feats, still spreading the rhetoric that aang saw her as nothing but a "baby-making" machine post-atla. in that same sentence, they want to turn around and talk about sex, sex, sex, and entertaining zutara affair allegations.
another thing that will never make sense is their hate and criticism of aang. he's the protagonist of the show; yet they simply refuse to dive deeper into his character than what's on the surface. their interpretation of his character is shallow and, more often than not, terrible, which is funny because you can ship zutara without disrespecting aang, love.
with this atla renaissance, i've been seeing the rhetoric that aang is nothing but bryke's self-insert as a gotcha! which is strange in itself bc what? so, the genocide survivor is nothing but a white man's self-insert? let's think this over carefully. it's sad how there's so much love put into the world of avatar; however, y'all will reduce it to something like that over fictional ships.
i can go on and on about how it's all deeply unserious, but please make it make sense to me bc 1+1=4.
i haven't used tumblr since high school and that was 8y ago so i'm not surprised it's changed, but on a whim i've properly customized my dashboard and wait. i'm kinda moved bc it's so aesthetically pleasing like okay! and there's a filtering option that hopefully works! let me start using this site more bc it's doing its big one so far lmao
The legend of Deliverer
i think that sometimes the best thing that you can do is remind yourself that there are beaches. lakes, rivers, and ponds. there are forests. little woods and meadows. there are canyons. gullies and mountain cliffs. there are rainy days. dry spells and scorching blue skies. that the world turns. changes as much as it repeats. that feeling slow today won't stop tomorrow's high tide. won't make july's blackberries any less ripe

The gaang + death glares
in the avatar state you are at your most powerful, but you are also at your most vulnerable.
A fun reminder that Aang was a terrifyingly powerful Avatar.
Most Avatars are informed of their newfound destinies at the age of 16 to begin their training. Because of the approaching war Aang was told of his status at the age of 12. He had already mastered airbending, and in the span of a year he mastered the other three elements, the avatar state, and energybending. He also learned lightning redirection and seismic sense (a technique no previous Avatar had even encountered). In the span of a year.
This child was a terrifying force of nature.
