About Time | Ava and Rosa

Despite her discomfort Rosaline couldn’t stop a smile spreading across her features as she saw Ava expertly carrying her baby and just how good and natural she looked doing it. “Fashionably late in order to create maximum impact, she’s picked up my bad habits already,” she teased. As her cousin settled on the bed and she caught her first glimpse of her goddaughter Rosaline was overcome with emotion and her good hand reached out to squeeze Ava’s arm. “Ava… Ava she’s beautiful,” she whispered, voice cracking with the emotion. The hand that had been on her cousins arm moved to ever so gently caress Natalia’s cheek. “I see so much of you in her. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there, I would have been right by your side if I…” she trailed off, blinking back tears and took a deep breath. “Does it feel real yet?”
Ava laughed, grinning at her cousin as she nodded, “Oh definitely.” She settled beside her carefully and at the squeeze to her arm she looked over, her smile softening. She lowered her arms and shifted enough for Rosa to get a good look, knowing she’d have to wait to truly hold the baby, but for now this would hopefully be sufficient. “She is, right?” Ava breathed out, practically in awe as she looked down at her daughter. Her emotions just heightened even more as Rosa spoke and she shook her head, shifting closer to lean her head against her cousin’s. “It’s okay. You’re here now. And you’re okay. Rosie I don’t know what I would’ve done if you weren’t....” she felt pressure building behind her eyes and she sniffled, trying to keep herself composed and instead shook her head, “Not really. It’s almost overwhelming, but...in a good way? If that makes sense?”
