“Kyerav” coming for free soon!

Hey everyone, if you remember one of my older albums in high school, Kyerav, you’ll know that I’ve improved immensely since then not only in composition, but in mixing, mastering, and editing audio of all sorts.

Since I feel the album no longer matches the quality I’m after, I’ve decided to open it up as a “name your price,” starting for free on May 25. This includes both sides of the album, Part 1 & 2, so if you liked a track that you wanted to cover for a while, now you’ll be able to download instrumentals for free as well (excluding Birth, Rush, and Flames).

In the meantime, I’m working on a new EP and trying to put together an official site, so I’ll try to keep you updated!

Fanime Theme Giveaway/Contest(?)

WHY

If you’ve known me for a long time, you’d know that when I first started doing things online, my passion was not in music, but in animation and storytelling. I found that through the fanime community, which in 2006-2008 was alive, thriving, and amazingly active. I’ve since grown away from it, and I’ve been struggling to re-enter it, or do something for it, so this is my best idea. To all the people who make fanime out there, I’m doing this to give something back to the community.

WHAT

So, this isn’t a very conventional giveaway or contest, but whatever.

So, as my followers know at least, I write music of various genres, and my goal is to be a score composer. So, for this sort of giveaway (not really) I’ll be doing a request from a talented fanime artist! This can range from anything--an opening or an ending, a character theme, a mood theme, etc.! You can pick whatever you want for the soundtrack!

WHO

If you haven’t heard of me, here’s several examples of my work! You can check out my current soundcloud, my old soundcloud (featuring work from years ago so you can see the progress I’ve made), and my current and old youtube channels!

HOW

To snag the request, this is where the “giveaway contest” comes in. I’m not giving my services at random, but this isn’t necessarily a big contest, either, so I’m not exactly sure what to call it. To snag this, I want to see your work! That includes some of your animation, promotional artwork, and AT LEAST three STORY-RELATED scenes (not necessarily character development or filler) of your script so I get an idea of what kind of story it is! And don’t worry--your animation doesn’t have to be 100% complete. I’d like a little complete so I know what the finished product will look like, but it can be a majority sketched.

I WILL NOT BE PICKING THE WINNER AT RANDOM. The winner will be picked out of admittedly a little selfishness; I will be picking the theme and story that I think will be most interesting for me to work with. I will not base it off who submits, so don’t worry about popularity.

WHEN

I’m going to let people submit their stuff until October 8, 2017, and then I’ll start going through submissions throughout that week and pick a winner by that Thursday or Friday. That leaves you a while in case you’ve been trying to decide whether or not to make a fanime to create some sample work!

MY TERMS

Lyrics: I normally write my own lyrics, and base the accompaniment off them. If you’d like to suggest a theme for the lyrics, you may. If you want to write the lyrics yourself, you’ll have to tell me in detail what you want the accompaniment to sound like. If you don’t want lyrics and it’s for a soundtrack in a scene, you’ll need to send me the script and storyboard for it. TL;DR: I need creative freedom but if you need specifics we can talk.

Genre: I’m currently unfamiliar with a few specific types of genres. I am willing to try for you, since I’d like to work in a variety of styles, but I cannot guarantee anything outstanding in the following: rap, hip-hop, dubstep, some forms of pop and electronica. (I’m slowly getting the hang of EDM... slowly.)

Mature content: I don’t think this is a problem in the fanime community from what I know, but I won’t write about anything promoting rape, racism, etc. I WILL, however, write themes for villains including any violent agendas the character may have. TL;DR: If you have mature or violent content, we’ll talk.

Anyway, sorry for this abnormally long post, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to help someone in the fanime community. And hey, if there’s a lot of really interesting requests, I might do more than one!

Update

At this point in time I’m close to getting my Associate’s degree in Music Tech. I plan to move after that and to work on a new album while working full time. The earliest I’ll get it is summer, and the latest is next winter.

I’ve begun planning on the album and I plan on commissioning an artist instead of hosting an album art contest, but if enough people are interested I will open another one--though the prizes will be less than before since I don’t have as much time.
