@lookatmylanguages
Hi hello bonjour!
I haven’t posted anything in a few months and haven’t been properly active for ages now and I’m not gonna make a full comeback but!! I started university this month and I’m doing a double major in linguistics and chinese :D
my chinese has gotten kinda rusty because I haven’t been using it for a few months now but it’s rly nice to hear people speaking Chinese again, even if I’m in a beginner’s class
If native speakers could stop not understanding my perfectly pronounced sentences that’s be great.
So many languages so little brain
i have rude bitch disorder and it makes me say things like this
Every word that starts with an N should have a silent G in front. Gnorway. Gnuclear. Gnervous system. Gnipples.
At some point my brain decided based on the word knee that body parts beginning with a n sound should have a silent k (particularly the word neck) so I am against gnipples wholeheartedly, it should clearly be knipples!
How about a compromise? Gn words and kn words get switched. So now it’s gneecaps and gnowledge, but it’s also knome and Knosticism.
the problem with this is that it doesn’t account for the original dilemma, which was gnipples vs. knipples
I, for one, think it should be pnipples, like pneumonia
Okay, but what about mnipples, like ‘mnemonic’?
Gkpmnipples (pronounced “nipples”)
This is the kind of content I remain for. (and y'all provide on the regular, I love you)

Resume: I’m fluent in multiple languages
Reality:
Does anyone else struggle a looot with these ‘complete the sentences to prove you understood a certain grammar rule’ exercises not because they didn’t understand the rule but because they’re just so incredibly uncreative they physically can’t come up with a sentence? That’s my life and I find the creativity aspect so torturous that I retain absolutely nothing from these exercises because I spend more time trying to come up with a sentence than trying to understand the application of the rules
yep i’d rather see a bunch of examples of the rule in use than have to come up with my own sentences, i feel like it’s a waste of brainpower having to come up with my own ideas when i’m already desperately trying to absorb some weird ass grammar rules
"German is complicated"
The German language: this is a shape with four corners. We call it “fourcorner”

Russian person: *points at an owl* сова
French person: *abruptly turns around* Très bien, merci
French person: ça va ?
Russian person: Ну где сова?
Uh hi? I haven't been active in a few months, I'm still in China but I'll be going back to Germany soonish. Also my friends are coming to visit me next month and I'll be traveling to Guangzhou, Nanjing, Hong Kong and hopefully Macau as well
新年快乐
