If you’re not constantly unlearning, dropping bad habits + adopting new mindsets, you’re avoiding the inner work. Remain teachable.

I’m literally obsessed with this picture of my cat. It is the definition of renaissance painting imagery. The shading. The pose. The thoughtful twinkle in his eye. Sublime

Mercury in the 4th house - Lounge-room Lectures
Mercury in the 4th house people are conditioned to learn as much as possible from the environment. She receives information through abstract, active, and osmotic channels and makes a home for herself in the bookshelves of knowledge she accumulates. The individual can create a very idyllic and simple life for herself. She can be nourished by her books and feel a sense of belonging when she can identify with characters or conditions. She can use her mind to hide from the world as a secluded sanctum of safety and take delight in shutting her eyes to disappear inside. The individual enjoys learning through storytelling and imagination. She manages to retain a childlike mind that offers fresh and insightful perspectives. It makes her environment consistently stimulating, provoking, and interesting. It’s important for opinions and thoughts to reflect her personal value system and emotional morality.
The individual with Mercury in the 4th typically has a tremendous memory. There is an excellent skill for retaining information and self regulated study. It’s common for the individual to view the parents as being esteemed teachers when she was a child. It means that the lessons or the way that she was directed to think or base her opinion on can be deeply conditioning and very hard to break free from. The individual can inherit and reflect the thinking patterns of her parents, and she can become the influential thinker in her own household. One or both of the parents may have been quite clever, outspoken, and encouraging with schoolwork and study. She may have been homeschooled or expected to achieve high grades. It’s also possible for the individual to inherit or reflect a nervous condition from one of the parents. Internal activity is restless and tense with Mercury in the 4th followed by bouts of calm and dream. The individual has a very good way of talking people through distressful situations or soothing with the voice. The intuitive facilities conduct directly through the mind and reveal themselves as thought.
Mercury in the 4th people can get very bound by personal rituals and habits. The mind is comforted by repetitive and known behaviour. So there can also be a strange mental experience here, like it can be extremely difficult to get songs out of her head or change the topic of thought. Mercury in the 4th typically delight in having an active, chatty, and animated home where words and conversation flow freely from room to room. The individual can flick through old memories in her mind like its a photo album and remind other people of important things they have forgotten. She can spend a lot of time thinking about family and staying in close contact. If the relationship with the mother was positive, the individual will long to hear the sound of her voice as soon as chaos threatened. Maternal guidance calmly directs and settles her mind, because once a ripple has started it easily becomes a tsunami. She builds a home inside her head, a refuge held together by memories and fantasies, a shelter by the sea, active with thoughts and ideas and words and dreams.

Moon in the 4th house - Moon’s Baby
“And the Great Mother said: Come my child and give me all that you are. I am not afraid of your strength and darkness, of your fear and pain. Give me your tears. They will be my rushing rivers and roaring oceans. Give me your rage. It will erupt into my molten volcanoes and rolling thunder. Give me your tired spirit. I will lay it to rest in my soft meadows.” ~Linda Reuther
Moon water is cradled in the umbilical cord with Moon in the 4th. Although the line is cut away, the powerful connection between individual and mother tightly bound for a lifetime. This is a sensitive position for the Moon, and her lunar songs are symphonic in her own Cancer ruled house. The attachment to home, family, and loved ones is physically, spiritually, and emotionally binding. Stability is important, although her childhood may have involved a lot of moving around and change in residence. The core is gentle, emotional, and loving with Moon in the 4th. Healthy experiences during the upbringing prime empathy, appreciation, and soothing lifelong memories. But, if the earliest expression of emotion were invalidated by the parents, the individual can struggle longterm with emotional lability, instability, and dependency. Much of her coping skills centre around developing emotional resiliency and the ability to self comfort. The individual is a safe guarder and the nature is defensive and protective. She dips her mermaid tail in the moon lagoon, the water in her spirit, and she frequently drifts into fantasy and comforting reverie. Remarkable memory retention can be a blessing and a curse.
The 4th house is the residence of spirit guides, and the moon’s psychic nature accelerates the connection between soul and body. She can receive intuitive guidance through sensations, feelings, and her direct intimacy with Mother Goddess. Ancestors may communicate with her in the home through appliances like switching on lights and changing room temperature. The close presence of spirit guides is very much a protective force. There are always angels hovering close by. No matter her physical age, she is always a golden child of the heavens. Family is the joy, despair, and repair of life with Moon in the 4th. Nothing brings her more delight than having everybody she loves together again. She may be a great lover of holiday season, birthdays, stormy nights, and cooking for friends and family. Family is what keeps her balanced and feeling safe, because she may be constantly threatened by loss of security, abandonment, or the death of a family member. There may be a deep affinity with tracing back ancestors and discovering her family history. Photographs are essential, and she may like to keep a journal. Her home is her bungalow and sanctuary, and she absolutely needs a safe place she can retreat from the world and crawl into. There is a natural and commanding harmony with the cycles of the moon. She is the lunar mirror whose moods wax and wane to reflect the hollow and full white diamond in the sky. She can experience consuming and suffocating mood states where she feel everything at once, and then she feels nothing at all. There may be difficulties with fluid retention and managing sugar and dairy cravings. The individual can fall easily into destructive rituals to cope with emotion, she may binge eat, impulse buy, or refuse to get out of bed.
Moon in the 4th people are natural mother goddesses, and the individual expresses her maternity and wisdom from a very young age. The fourth house represents the psychological base. Dane Rudyhar calls this the symbolic tap-root of the human organism, the place in which the total human person finds his centre. The Moon is the astrological expression of feminine energy and matriarchal consciousness. As a child, the feminine influences of her life condition her and shape her as a person. There may have been a close attachment to the mother, aunt, or grandmother, and possibly all three. Psychic abilities are generally inherited by the women in her heritage. The moon is attached to the earth’s gravity field the same way a baby is attached to its mother. It’s possible that she experienced and still does experience a high degree of psychic activity with the mother, like she was a vessel of the mother’s sensations and moods. She may feel very safe with the mother as the intuitive bond is so strong and provides her with a sense of comfort in a way nobody else does. It is possible that she will care for the mother in old age as she undertakes the mothering role herself. Also, the mother may have been quite emotional and unstable, so it may have been difficult for the individual to predict her mother’s responses and exaggerated her instability fears. The home life is a reflection of her inner values and sentiments. Milky lunar drops fill her home and inner experience with the frothy creamy comfort of unconditional love, shelter, and belonging. She is the place everybody comes home to.

Venus in the 4th house - Angel Abode
“Home interprets heaven. Home is heaven for beginners” - Charles Henry Parkhurst
The inner world is filled with flickering fairy lights, butterscotch cream, and sweet bliss with Venus in the fourth. Her home and surroundings tend to be a reflection of her decorated and delighted internal light. There will be a tremendous appreciation for home and her cherished creature comforts, which provide her with a sort of pillow that protects her from the savage outside world. The security needs are high with Venus in the fourth and the individual is a strict guardian over her inner universe and loved ones. She takes friends in as family and needs to maintain a high level of tranquility and harmony within the home. She may be known as the peacekeeper of the family. Her maternal qualities and nurturing essence are known and cherished by everyone who comes to know her.
The mother is highly important with Venus in the fourth. Bill Herbst says the mother was a model for beauty and pleasure, a woman who teaches the individual what being a woman means. The feminine influence of early childhood, whether expressed by either parent proves profoundly important and leaves deep residual imprints on the person’s conditioning. The home was likely a place of harmony and a tremendous cradle of love, inspiration, and support. The individual may fantasize about being more like her mother and use her as a source of light, beauty, and creative inspiration. She may be the pearl the eyes of her family, the golden child. I know plenty of youngest siblings who are the favorite and adored child, and only children born with Venus in the fourth. They are like the beating heart that keeps the whole family together, like they entwine every fabric of the bloodline into one fountain of pure love and embrace. Much of the summation of her identity, and strong likes and disliked will be conditioned from early home life.
The individual with Venus in the fourth will enjoy creating from home. She may have a great eye for decore and design with a home adorned in photographs, indulgent collectables, coconut candles, and bath salts. The individual will go to extreme lengths to avoid bringing conflict into the home and can turn home into an art gallery, a hub for the whole family, a bath where angels can fly, swim, and dance. Honourable and cherubim women will make their way into her life and assist her flight through this life. It’s like she can remember heaven as her last home and realises her need make nirvana from her earth home. She may be attracted to partners who express that sort of maternal instinct she craves, and in return she can care for them like they are baby cubs of her own. Her heart releases the floodgates of love, the crystal incased pearl of adoration and intimacy, a cavern of safety for the lost, bruised, and broken.

The 4th house is a seaside meeting place, a residence where all the most powerful women in your bloodline congregate. Here they come to find you, hold you, and sing you the song you and your mother have been singing for centuries. The golden cord that connects you to the great mother and the ancestors you have inherited royalty from rest here, and you can always visit them in dream, memory, or even when you look into the eyes of your own daughter, mother, or grandmother. This is the sort of love that transcends all galaxies, dimensions of earth, and time. Every part of their spirit makes up a drop of the ocean that resides inside you, a place you can submerge yourself and hear the voice of the mother and soothing wisdom. This is a sisterhood where you can share your greatest fears and dreams, chanting in secret ritual and hidden charms, using the tide as their orchestra, a song bathed in femininity, peace, and maternity. Left unsupervised, fourth house people can be wild, mad with the fragility of the sea and containing eternity, dancing under the wind of the moon, always cherished and held in the highest regard.

~the 4th house
the sense a baby has in its mother’s womb, that enveloping nurture, protection, security, and safety. this is the experience we try to establish in the fourth house. the fourth house is the channel to the mother goddess, the umbilical cord that attaches us to all of eternity. the fourth house knows the true self. it is most contented around family and loved ones, because they symbolize the inner relations we all share. the fourth house is the sort of zone psychologists tap into. it suggests the conditions we interpreted in childhood, and the sort of lengths we go to attempting to give the wounded child in us a home and safety net. the fourth house is the way we care for the deepest, most vulnerable and infantile part of ourselves
the fourth house can indicate a spiritual residency and esoteric inheritance, it can be the access point of our spirit guides and guardians. people with an emphasised fourth house can seem to ‘know’ certain profound aspects about life, a sort of embedded wisdom to which they have little knowledge how they ascertained. this is the birth place of existence, the very waters of gestation. our participation in the creation of life becomes conscious here

Jupiter in the 4th house - The Gift of the Goddess
The birth of Jupiter in the 4th is a heavenly blessing from the cosmos wrapped in the package of a newborn baby. The inner world is a direct passage to the akashic record and her appearance into the world may have kindled a spiritual enlightenment or expansion of spiritual perspective in the parents and caregivers. Often there are many people that come together to celebrate the birth. Conception may have been remarked as a ‘miracle’ or a grand surprise, and whatever the case, it seems like every force of the universe united to make her existence a possibility. The 4th house is highly subconscious and blooms from ancestral roots, the birth may have been planned for the family or descendants in heaven centuries ago. The early home life can be like attending childcare college, there may have been exposure to a vast range of intellectual stimulus, books, extensive conversation, and substantial teaching by one of the parents who placed a high value in education. There is often some form of wealth and abundance associated with Jupiter in the 4th, and it’s rarely in the form of monetary assets, but rather the rich offerings, teachings, and intellectual expansion that is provided for the individual. It’s also possible she was acquainted to religious, ideological, mythological, or spiritual practices by one of the parents. She may have inherited intuitive gifts from the mother or carried on one of her spiritual teachings or practices. Caregivers tend to have a parenting philosophy allow the child freedom to follow natural bliss and cultivate the talents arising from natural pleasure. The mother can be seen as a Goddess, and home as a cathedral with the guru that has all of the answers. But it’s also possible for the individual to be instructed under quite strict theologic self righteousness that develops an unease, or sense of being devoured by the unknown.

The fourth house
The womb is our first home on the earth plain, and so we spend our whole fourth house lives searching for hideaways that remind us of our origin. It symbolizes our first experiences as incarnated beings. This is such conditioning that shapes our psyche and needs, the watery residue we can never escape, its engraved, regardless of if these were good or bad. The patterns we express as adults reflect the experience of the fourth house in our formative years. The fourth house is the special place within us that is home, circulated by the blood, whispers of ancestors, love and spirit of those before us. In a lot of ways, we can relate the fourth house to the moment of first breath, when the snapshot of the heavens and cosmic constellations imprint in our bodies and tattoo the astrological chart on our psyche. The the fourth house is the bedtime lullaby, the chanting ancient Moon rituals, the dancing, the origination songs, and recipes that have been handed down through the generations. The tenth house sends us out into the world, the fourth house welcomes us home with open arms. The tenth house and the fourth house can indicate conditions around the parents and the upbringing. These will be the perception of the child, rather than what may be observable by others. The sense of comfort and safety we feel as we crawl into our mother’s lap and retreat away under the protection of her arms is the base of the external structures we attempt to create in the fourth house. This is as we search for a home and a place of belonging that revives such feelings of bliss and belonging. Here the first melody of the cosmic dance resonates in divine harmony throughout the universe. The moonstruck waters bathe the deepest part of ourselves, the tending mother, the garden from that we grow ~~~ You’re the flowers that bloom from me You’re the particles that dance for me Between these walls rests everything that I am A man with you swimming through my veins I’d bleed sepia blood if you cut me I am swirling with our photographs and grey washed memories
