Leaf giggled into her hand at the other girl’s - Candice’s excitement. She tried to think why she was here, really it was just to get ahead of the fashion game but that for certain did not sound romantic. She thought about her answer for a moment.

“Sometimes you just need a girl week, I mean I can get rough and dirty with the boys but at some point it just need to see fashion, beauty, and I suppose a bit of romance.”

“How is it being so far away from home, though? Is it scary at all? I always think about that when I’m traveling. I’ll always come back with all this wonderful stuff from where I come from when I travel but its always so different from the things from Kanto. I always find that interesting.” Leaf realized she was rambling but she didn’t know what else to say.

Candice gasped aloud! Realization hit her like snowballs. She remembered how long it has been hanging out with Gardenia and Maylene! When Leaf mentioned a “girl week”, Candice slightly frowned, she forgot to enjoy her time off as well. Even if she had dual duties, she knew she needed more vacation time. And Kalos was perfect for her circumstances. 

“Candice think it is strange to be in another Region, but exciting as well! So many new Pokemon and people to meet!” Another sparkle in her eyes before she turned to Leaf. “Kanto? Candice never been there! I’d love to hear about it, want to head to the nearest cafe?” 

Touching her bag, she wondered if she brought a map of the city earlier. If not, she can always search for one. Despite not having a map, there are a lot of different cafes lined up around the city block, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to search for one.

Candice sighed. He didn’t seem to have any ill intentions towards her. Dropping her glaring gaze, she relaxed a bit. Managing a small smile, she introduced herself as Candice. 

Back to her usual self, her brown eyes landed on the machine that was in front of her. With a slight glare from earlier and part curiosity, she approached it and studied the machine before her. It was unusual and yet it fascinated her how far mankind have gone with technology. A flash of her brown eyes towards the trees indicated that she was thinking that what if one day, machines conquered? A shudder. 

Candice wasn’t knowledgeable in machinery, but deducting logic of what this machine does and what had previously occurred, she can only assume that this was a machine used for pokeballs. Now the question becomes, why? Meeting his gaze and pointing to the machine, she asked.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you too!” Despite their current situation, Candice tries to put on a brave and happy face. Even if mother nature was against the two travelers, Candice was experienced enough to navigate through this- just as long as the weather remain a constant.

   “I see,” he said. “I’d offer to help but I don’t think I’m much use in this situation. Do you think the blizzard will last much longer?”

Hearing Brock’s question, she wished she had the answer. Candice didn’t like to lie and would rather tell it for what it is. “That’s a good question! Candice isn’t too sure,” For a moment, it brought back to her classroom days. Where a student would ask her a difficult question that she couldn’t answer and this would be the response they would get. A small smile lingered on her lips on this thought. 

What brought her back to reality was the snow pelting on her face. Right. Shaking her head, she mentally prepared herself for the worst. Candice was almost always prepared!

When brown eyes met with the endless shrouded sky above, it seemed to have gotten worse. Candice sighed softly and knew that they need to find shelter. 

“Hey, Brock? Candice thinks that we should find shelter soon. It weather conditions seem to be getting worse and if we stay out here, we might not survive.”

The bustling activity of Lumiose caused much confusion for the ice type specialist. While she enjoyed the extroverted energy it brought, it was much more difficult to see where she was going. Candice had thought to purchase a map, but the question was where? As that thought escaped, she figured it would be much easier to ask for directions. The amount of people there would hopefully aid her. 

Problem: language barrier. Defeated. From far away, Candice almost looks like she’s slumped over.  An exhausted expression on her face. She knew if she gave up now, she would never get anything resolved. Standing straight, she retied the jumper that was around her waist. Next plan! She would look for landmarks she’s heard of and be directed that way. 

It took a few hours, but the ice type specialist managed to find the hotel she was staying at. As if she had renewed energy, Candice enthusiastically headed towards the counter to check in. With a misstep from Candice, she collided with someone’s. 

“I’m really sorry!” Candice spoke, almost simultaneously. She was also at fault for the mistake.  “Candice is fine!” The raven haired girl spoke with a peace sign and a grin. “How about you, are you alright too?”

The first thing Leaf noticed was how chipper the other girl seemed to be. She was somewhat relieved by the fact that she wasn’t going to be yelled at by a really grumpy hotel guest. Giving a sigh of relief, she gave a small bow in greeting.

“Yes, I’m quite alright, thank you. My name is Leaf, yours is Candice I presume?” Once again she was quite embarrassed at how thick her accent was. She really needed to get out of Kanto more often. “You’re visiting Kalos? What for, if I may ask?”

“Yup! Candice here! Nice to meet you, Leaf!” with an accompany peace side to the side, she smiled at the brunette. 

Her expression changed when mentioning the accidental bumping. Candice knew it wasn’t anything serious; on her end it was not, and judging from Leaf’s end, she seems to be alright too. What a relief! 

Ah, that brought a sparkle to her brown eyes! “Fashion and its cuisine!! Candice heard that this is the place to be for the latest trends!” 

Not being able to contain her excitement, she reached for the younger brunette’s hand. “Can you smell the aroma of the bakeries around here?! Is this not the perfect romance novel beginning?!” Dropping Leaf’s hand, she turned towards the crowd, her eyes further drifting at the thought. 

Oh, right. Candice shouldn’t drift off too much. Ahem. Turning back to Leaf, she grinned. “And you? If I may ask as well?”

Candice couldn’t believe what she’s just heard. No training? Realistically, she wondered why- that was quite strange. Maybe Yuyuri had a reason? Was it her business to ask? No, unless she tells her. Candice wasn’t the pushy type. Even if she did hear that Amatersau wasn’t trained, it was quite well-behave and that Candice had to give props to. 

 「 I usually leave her ALONE, so I can’t say I’ve put MUCH EFFORT. Why must you ask ?? 」

Ah. Candice shook her head at Yuyuri’s answer, but gave an explanation regardless. 

“Candice is just curious?”

More than that, Candice..wanted one of her own. To her, Amatersau was like an arctic fox that could blend well in the masses of snow that is her hometown. She would take care of it and would train it too! It would be a new edition to her team!

Candice wasn’t one to pass up an opportunity to learn. The subject was steel types, which Candice had heard of, from Byron, but doesn’t know anything further about the type. As a teacher of a small school in Snowpoint, she would want to be able to effectively teach her students about different types of Pokemon that were founded. Weaknesses and strengths. So when Steven Stone had offered to be a tour guide around Hoenn, Candice couldn’t miss out on this opportunity to travel and gain a valuable experience. 

Prior to this agreement, Candice had met Steven Stone once before. You can say she was surprised to see a impeccably dressed man wandering around Sinnoh. It was just that she didn’t realize who he was until they were acquainted. Candice just became speechless and in awe afterwards. 

With her bags packed to the brim of everything; Candice doesn’t know how the weather will be in Hoenn! She was just being  prepared! She was ready for a different region and new experiences!
