Online portfolio I created to accompany my website for my MA illustration interview last week.
One of my final pieces. The Dung Beetle zine, with promotional stickers and posters.

Finished promotional products, including business cards and postcards. (stickers didn't arrive, boo) Also photograph of my physical portfolio.
After my colour experimentation, I printed the images on a variety of paper, however the yellow was to subtle and didn't stand out enough.
After consideration, I realised keeping the design the same and printing on brown paper, created a more natural aesthetic, while keeping to a low budget to fit the company previous designs. The brown paper was also recycled, therefore reflecting the brands eco friendly morals.
This was my finished design, showing the product inside the packaging, showing not only the design but its function.
After attending a tutorial, I was advised to experiment with adding colour to my box design. I experimented with adding yellow (resemble honey) over the dark pointillism, using layers on Photoshop and highlighting certain aspects (as shown above) I then experimented with font colour.
After having made many errors, with size and measurements (maths is not my thing!) I finally got the dimensions right. This is my final design, with the correct text and content.
I used a pointillist style to create a natural realistic feel, while keeping it simple enough for easy reading.
Honey jar label on product, the label is too big and will be adjusted to the right side, for the final product.
Finished label design. Experimentation with colour palettes and typography.
Progress of label development. Because of the duration of the project and it’s my first time exploring this field, I’ve decided to use the original format of both products and develop the content and style.
Buzz Buzz Buzz
This particular design, worked really well for my logo too - something I will consider when creating my promotional products.
I experimented with adding the logo to the design. I couldn't locate the actual Oxford Honey logo, with a high enough resolution to use, to fix this issue, I used the British Honey Logo instead.
(This didn't create much of an issue, as the British Honey Company is the actually the same as Oxford Honey. The British Honey company supplies the honey all over the UK)
I played around with adding background colour, and changing the placement of the logo. The background colour, I felt was to overwhelming for the design and took the brightness of the watercolour away. I felt overall the first design worked best, the logo sat well underneath the bee head and appears playful within the design.
So I took my little sketch and came up with a design, representing Apple Blossom Honey. I used my traditional pointillist style, combining watercolour to represent the bright colours of the apple blossom flower and create contrast with the monotone style. My main aim was to create a natural feel to the design, I felt watercolour and the traditional style, conveyed this well.
I started with thinking about the Apple Blossom honey design, sketching ideas and thinking about composition styles. I wanted to create a poster design, and then take bits from it to use for label. For example creating something like this design (link below)
