Hey Nintendo, hows it goin?
Reports indicate that Nintendo is reluctant to give devs the tools need to make the hardware sing
so this is a sign of a healthy game company thats doing well right
my first thought when i was reading this was hey are they trying to back peddle and get games released on the cheaper console first so people will actually be able to buy them?
because from a business standpoint it makes sense: prices on everything for your new console have gone up, your american customers are swiftly losing their spending power month by month thanks to the orange man. Why not just have new games come out on the older cheaper console and then when things get better, port them over to the new shiny console?
Its just that, dog, YOU RAISED THE PRICE ON YOUR 8 YEAR OLD CONSOLE
The Switch price hadn’t changed since its launch in 2017.
So not only are most game studios not getting a development kit because you want all the poor plebs who can't/won't pay for a Switch 2 to be able to keep buying new games, but you're anticipating that this tariff shit will last a long enough time that its worth kneecapping any cool new future games so that they'll only be able to run on the older Switch until you decide to port them to the new Switch
Thus years from now down the line there'll be a lot of very "meh" looking games that'll have people whining about how lame most Switch 2 games look and thus even less incentive to buy a Switch 2, at least until a fantastic Nintendo first party title drops that knocks everyone's teeth outta their mouths
