"Aw, Stahl, no need to be selfless." Robin shoved the jerky forward into Stahl’s hands disregarding what he said, knowing the reluctant soldier was holding back.

"If we can hurry back, like you said, we’ll find something to eat." He stretched once more to the sky and yawned nonchalantly, as if the exchange hadn’t happened. "Suppose we should finish, so we can go back then." Robin looked at the pile of firewood Stahl had and of him holding the jerky and smiled back also. "We’re almost done. Let’s just pick up a few more and head back."

Reluctantly, Stahl took the jerky into his hands, even if only to prevent their last item of food from falling on the floor. He cast his gaze downward to look at the food, only to be met with a mixture of hunger and guilt bubbling up inside him. Sometimes, Stahl wished he wasn't quite so much of a glutton - there'd be more food to go around, and it wouldn't always be on his mind. But, well... there were some things in life you just couldn't change, he supposed.

In any case, however, Stahl still couldn't accept the jerky. Not all of it, anyway. Mustering what strength he had on an empty stomach, he pulled the jerky in half, leaving him with two similar sized pieces. "Here," Stahl smiled, and offered one of the smaller pieces back to Robin. "It's not much, but at least we'll have both had some of it this way. We don't need much more firewood, so this should be enough to keep us going until we get back."

For his piece, Stahl didn't waste much time at all. He chewed it for a while, trying to make the meat go a little further, but soon it was gone. It wasn't much, but it certainly made him feel better. And now it was time to get back to work.

Gr. 5 Event: The Unappetizing Contest

To be honest, when Stahl began to choke, Tharja panicked a bit. She worried, but it was only for a split second. After all, the man beside her managed to get the meat out on his own. Just him doing so by himself was quite impressive to her. Although, she was pretty sure that there would have been others coming to aid him if really needed. But that was just another story in itself.

It wasn’t too long after when Tharja began to pick up her eating pace again. Sure she still felt that growing pain within her stomach, but that didn’t stop her from wanting to achieve her personal goal. The sorceress just kept pushing herself beyond her limits of eating and frankly, it was making her feel real proud of herself. Not even the idea of Stahl being her rival worried her anymore. All she could think of was winning the contest. Tharja’s positive thinking started to really disappear when the stomach aches were no longer as dull as they originally were. She decided now was a good time to take a peek at Stahl. It seemed that every time she glanced up at him and his prideful eating, it made her motivated to continue on. And just like she planned it to, it worked! “You seem to be doing well, but I believe that I can do better.” she said bluntly right before she bit into another forkful of meat. It was as if her and Stahl were the only ones going at it like no other. She wasn’t sure who was going to win at this point, but she hoped that her efforts wouldn’t have been for nothing.

Not wanting to repeat his previous mistake and start choking again, Stahl simply grinned at Tharja's words. He also decided to risk another glance at her, to see how she was doing. She seemed to be doing... well. Really well, in fact. To Stahl's surprise and slight dismay, it seemed the sorceress was fairly neck and neck with him, even after all the catch-up eating he had to do after his choking fit. Stahl groaned in disappointment around a mouthful of meat at the discovery. He had to do better!

With a new sense of haste, he swallowed what was in his mouth and began to take bigger and quicker bites of the meat in his hands. On some level, he was aware that his competition with Tharja was starting to gain some odd looks from observers, but he ignored the feeling and soldiered on. No more looking at Tharja, either. 'Just concentrate on your own food!'

On his next bite out of the leg, Stahl was elated to discover that he could now see the bone. Nearly there! He only had to make sure the bone was virtually clean, and he'd won. Despite having not actually won yet, pride bubbled up within him and unconsciously he slowed his pace, as if deep-down he thought that there was no way anyone could catch up with him now. Pride comes before a fall, as they say.

Gr. 5 Event: The Unappetizing Contest

Stahl’s words only made Tharja give him a hostile glare from under her bangs while she tried her best to bite into a forkful of meat. She wasn’t even sure what exactly kept her going, but it felt as if it was an unusual feeling. Accomplishment? Ambition? The woman wasn’t all too sure.

As Tharja took bit into yet another forkful, her stomach started to ache. She growled under her breath and the accomplished feeling seemed to have dissolved right afterwards. She took a peek at Stahl who was eating agressively. For some strange reason, his confident eating made her get the urge to continue onwards. After staring at him then back down at her food for only a short amount of time, her brain registered the unknown emotion she was dealing with: competitiveness. Tharja would never admit such a thing out loud, but she personally enjoyed the feeling. Shortly after, she began eating once more; this time, pushing the need to stop because of her stomach pains. "I will not let you win this…" She whispered, hoping that he wasn’t able to hear her over the other noises surrounding them.

Unfortunately for Tharja, Stahl was indeed able to hear her comment, even over all of the obscene slurping noises going on around the two of them. The accomplishment of bringing out her competitiveness couldn't help but make Stahl grin.

"Heh! Whe'll shee abouwt t'at!" he managed to (almost) reply with a mouthful of boar meat. To say that Stahl was eating aggressively was probably an understatement; it was like the poor animal was dying another death. But the cavalier was determined to win this thing. With the amount he ate, he practically prepared for this kind of contest on a daily basis.

Although, he wasn't usually one to speak with his mouth full, and the action of trying to speak and swallow and the same time made him choke. This happened more than he'd like to admit-- usually through 'how much jerky can I fit in my mouth at once' competitions-- and Stahl expertly managed to dislodge the meat from his throat before any of the others could even attempt to come to his aid. But now wasn't the time to feel proud of his first aid skills; the brief interruption had cost him precious time. Quickly, he cast a glance around the other contestants before letting his gaze rest on Tharja once more. They were catching up. He looked down at the meat in his hands, and again began eating as if his life depended on it. Well, Stahl supposed, his dignity did at least. And if he was going to have to suffer through a stomach ache at the end of this, by Gods was he at least going to get first place!

‘Irk- how does any of this look the least bit appetizing?' She thought to herself. If it was not for Chrom and Robin insisting that everyone join in on this ridiculous celebration, then Tharja wouldn’t be in such a predicament that she was in now. She was somehow persuaded into pairing with Stahl for the local festival and of all the activities they could have possibly chosen, they both enrolled into food eating contest. What made matters worse was that her partner was infamous for his gluttonous ways with food so of course he was bound to win. A few minutes went by and everyone who entered the contest were finally settled in. Tharja began to feel extremely peeved at the situation at hand. It was too late for her to back out now and thoughts of her becoming ill from eating the large portions of food filled her head. Before the annoyed woman could think of ways to escape, a loud bell echoed from the distance. It was that of the signal bell for the contest. Left alone without anymore options, Tharja let out a groan and grabbed onto the dining utensils placed in front of her. ‘If this really would make Robin happy,’ she contemplated, ‘then I will gladly oblige to doing such activities’. However, she felt that she would regret even trying to gulp down the food at such a fast pace.

As far as Stahl knew, the fact that the Shepherds had come across a village celebrating its founding had been nothing more than a coincidence. It had been a while since he'd had the chance to visit such a celebration, though he'd certainly had his fair share of festivals as a child. The chance to relive those memories was one Stahl had taken gladly.

He'd even managed to persuade Tharja to enter an eating contest with him, which he cheerfully counted as quite the achievement. When the group had been told to disperse and enjoy the festival, Stahl had noticed Tharja's obvious displeasure at the idea - in fact, it had been written all over her face. And, well, he thought it was time to actually get to know the sorceress a little better. After all, they fought as a group, and the group was stronger if they worked well together. That had been his excuse, anyway.

Stahl started to fidget slightly in his seat, making sure he was comfortable for the start of the contest. Once he was satisfied, he cast a glance at Tharja, who was sat beside him. She was clearly annoyed at her current predicament, but that only made Stahl grin. "Don't worry, I'm fairly sure it won't kill you!"

The bell rung. Stahl wasted no time in starting and grabbed ahold of the chunk of meat before him, not even attempting to use the utensils provided. Teeth ripped at the flesh of the boar leg as he began. If he hadn't been in such a hurry to chew and then gulp down the food, Stahl might've appreciated how nice the meat actually tasted. But, as it was, all the man could think of was 'I am so going to win this!'

Robin laughed at Stahl’s honesty, stopping for a second from his firewood collecting. “I have time, we should get it done faster with both of us doing this.”He walked over to where his coat was and fumbled with the pockets for a bit before pulling out some jerky.

The tactician scratched the back of his neck, offering it to the soldier. “It’s all I got for now. Maybe once we get back, we can go dig around the mess tent and see if there’s anything. I’m sure someone will have noticed by now it’s empty, perhaps.” Robin’s stomach let out a faint growl as well and he smiled. “I sure hope so, since I haven’t eaten today either.”

The moment Robin pulled the jerky from out of his cloak, Stahl's eyes lit up like one of the tactician's spells. The jerky looked positively delicious to a half-starved Stahl, though any food item would probably have brought out a similar reaction. Even a cooked snail would have made him hesitate for only half a second.

But, of course, he couldn't take it. His heart (and his stomach) plummeted.

"Ah, you keep it for yourself, Robin," Stahl said, and held his hands up to his chest, palms outward, as if trying to push the jerky back towards the other man. "I can't ask you to part with your food if you haven't eaten yet either! I should've thought ahead and prepared some emergency rations for myself, like you did." Obviously, Stahl wasn't going to mention the time he had tried to prepare emergency rations - he'd just ended up eating them all before lunch. It had been an emergency at the time, apparently.

"Besides, if you're helping me with the firewood, we'll be back at camp in no time! I'm sure we'll find something there." The cavalier nodded in agreement with himself, and flashed Robin an optimistic grin.

It was still a bright and early day when Lissa just just finished her morning duty. Finding some edible ‘treats’ for lunch and a little snack of her own later on in the day. Though the weather was simply too gorgeous for the cleric just to go back to the army’s current location. Hoping that her long disappearance wouldn’t be noticable, she began to try and take a relaxing walk within the forest.

It wasn’t long after that her walk was put on hold when she realized a familiar young man collecting pieces of wood in the distance. Lissa couldn’t help but grin when a thought of pulling a scare prank on him would be fun. After all, it seemed as though he was too concerned with his chore to acknowledge her presence. Without any sort of hesitation, she began to try and quietly walk up on him. However, it wouldn’t surprise the young girl if he actually did catch her since she kept giggling to herself. Finally, when Lissa felt as if she got close enough to Stahl, she stood still behind him; quickly breaking the silence shortly after. “Hey there, Stahl!” she yelled out to him with a smile.

Having successfully found a felled tree with a promising selection of potential firewood, the cavalier placed his basket beside him and knelt down on the dry ground. As Stahl reached over to grab a nearby piece of wood, a quiet sound made him hesitate. Was that a... giggle? Confused, he listened for the noise again, but failed to hear anything other than the birdsong from above him. With a shrug, Stahl grabbed the wood he had been after, briefly inspected it, and placed it in his basket.

Just when he had decided that he had imagined the giggle, he heard another, much closer sound. This time, it was more of a footstep, and he knew he hadn't imagined that one. Stahl was sure there was no-one else on firewood duty this morning, and so quickly became concerned that there was someone around who shouldn't be there.

"Hey, who's th--AARGH!" Stahl twisted his body around the face the direction the footstep had come from, only to come face-to-face with a gleeful looking Lissa. The young girl hardly cut a scary figure but she certainly caught him off guard, as evidenced by his (very manly) yelp.

"Gods, Lissa! You nearly scared me out of my armour!" Stahl exclaimed, though there was no anger in his voice. Rather, once he had figured out it was Lissa instead of some ugly assassin, he could really only find the humour in the situation. Stahl grinned, and said: "Heh, well done, though! Not many people have snuck up on me before." Either Lissa was getting very good at it, or Stahl's hunger was finally getting to him.

"Oh no, you’re not needed for anything, but the camp is rather empty this morning," The tactician strode over to where Stahl stood with his firewood and smiled as well. "And I saw you leaving, so I thought I’d follow just in case. It’s nice to get a break anyway." He shrugged.

"You want help?" Robin looked around at the spare pieces of wood lying all around and dropped his burdensome cloak on a stump and started to pick firewood up as well. He thought it was unusual to hear Stahl not complaining about food until he heard the soldier’s stomach growl slightly. Robin hid a smile and looked up from his firewood. "Had breakfast yet?"

Stahl opened his mouth, ready to object to Robin's offer of help, when his stomach growled quietly. For a brief moment, he thought the tactician hadn't heard it. Then Stahl saw the smile the other was trying--and failing-- to hide, and he realised that yes, Robin had heard it. He'd been doing so well, too!

"...No," Stahl replied with a brief sigh, before replacing his disappointment with an embarrassed smile. Olive eyes stared at the ground as he spoke. "I woke up too late. By the time I arrived, everything was gone!" As if to further emphasise his point, his stomach let out another low growl. Stahl wasn't entirely sure whether to laugh or cry.

"And now I'm behind on collecting firewood. I don't want to bother you if you've got other things to do, but to be honest..." he trailed off, then brought his gaze back up to look at Robin and grinned. "...I sure wouldn't mind the help! Aaand maybe a snack, if you have one going spare. I feel five minutes away from fainting and I might have to start chewing on a log soon!"

Robin stretched his arms out to the sky, yawning as he did so. It was looking to be a light and eventless day today. Slightly bored and tired of scanning through his books, he had popped out of his tent for a quick rundown of where everyone would be and what the supply levels would be at. When he saw the camp was virtually empty, he frowned and looked around for any signs of life at all.

The tactician noticed a familiar green armored man leaving the camp in a dejected state. Robin followed behind, wondering what was wrong, when he noticed it was Stahl collecting firewood.

"Hey!" He waved his hands to get the man’s attention. "Stahl!"
