blue collar!reiner (yum). for my peeps who don't know anything about cars.

blue collar reiner! who is in absolute disbelief when checks your brakes.

you had come home one day, plopping onto the couch with a big sigh before cuddling into him. he reciprocated instantly, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you closer into his chest.

"what's wrong?" he asked, pressing a soft kiss into your hairline.

"m' just tired," you murmured, eyes slipping shut as you melted into his warmth.

"oh!" you suddenly sat up, eyes wide. "my brakes! they've been squeaking non-stop—oh my god, i didn't realize how bad it was until i rolled my windows down on the way home today."

his eyebrows furrowed. he grumbled something about checking them this weekend when he had the time.

so imagine his surprise when he's lying underneath your propped-up car, pulling out a paper-thin brake pad. He genuinely can't believe two things: 1.) that he let you leave the house without hearing this noise, and 2.) that you've somehow been safe on the road this whole time.

"babe." he looks up at you, a deadpan expression on his face. "this is beyond bad."

"what?" you ask defensively.

"i don't even know you're here right now," he mutters, wiping the sweat off his forehead with his forearm.

"but i am here right now!" you beam, shrugging your shoulders like it’s no big deal

"yeah, by pure luck."

he shakes his head, muttering something under his breathe you're pretty sure isn't flattering. then he's reaching out a grease-stained hand, and you instinctively take it, letting him tug you down beside him on the garage floor.

“You’re unbelievable,” he says, still frowning—but his thumb is brushing over your knuckles, soft despite the callouses.

you grin, leaning your head on his shoulder. “but you love me.”

he exhales a laugh through his nose, then turns and presses a kiss to your temple, smearing a little dirt across your skin.

“yeah,” he says. “that’s the problem.”

weird kind of all over the place drabble for touch starved reiner braun but kinda not idk

touch starved reiner really losing all his sense when your arm brushes up against his. constantly stealing more subtle (and not so subtle) touches. every single nerve he has is gone when he can feel you near him. he's the first to notice if you're injured, and you better fucking bet he's the one patching you up.

he's the first on the scene and the last to leave. he once had to wrap your leg, and his hand lingered way too long on your inner thigh and it drove him insane how warm you are. not that you minded. whenever you playfully let your hand linger a little long on his shoulder, a small tap to his chest or arm, you were making him worse. you knew you were pushing him. he didn't mind the push so long as he was rewarded with your attention. one time you grabbed his hand in a playful way after a high five and his entire head and neck turned red in front of everyone, he couldn't wash that hand for the rest of the day.

he'll get a haircut every so often so you'll look at it and touch his hair. he'd shave so you'll tell him how handsome he looks with/without his facial hair. even when he was down and at his worst losing a lot of weight, the gentle touch to his body after you looked at him with worried eyes really made him fall in love with you. you always managed to make him feel seen. it's all he could ever ask for. and in exchange?

sometimes you'd break in these little games. he will look at you like you're the only person in the room. his eyes were the stage lights and they were always on you. his gaze is heavy and pointed and sometimes you'd also blush. you'd feel his eyes on you from a field away, looking for your silhouette, the shape of your hair, keep his ears perked up for your voice.

when you touch him it's probably the easiest breath of air he's ever taken. his weak spot is his arms, which were always a target. sometimes in the middle of the day the veins were slightly raised and you'd trace over them mindlessly. you were destroying him.

sometimes his clothed arms were the most sensitive. he's never expecting anyone to touch him with his jacket on. you'll go to touch his arm and suddenly he always knows its you from how gentle it is.

the worst part about being this touch starved is how often he will take the roughness of others when yours isn't available. people will turn him forcefully, and all he can think about is how sweet your touch is. he wishes it was you squeezing at his arms instead of some random girl wondering how his abilities work. he couldn't stand being ogled at by people that barely treated him like a person but tried to enjoy the attention nonetheless.

he's just waiting for the day he works up the nerve to break the tension, stop with the games and settling for crumbs. he should be so grateful (and he is) for these moments with you but you don't even know how much power you have over him.
