Jules would be lying if she said she hadn’t been avoiding Avery lately, she was concerned that maybe Avery’s opinion of her had changed after her dating Caleb came out. She didn’t want to assume that they were still friends just for the other girl to act like she was a terrible person for what she ‘did’ to Lucas. And she assumed her assumptions were correct considering Avery hadn’t been contacting her either. She paused outside her dorm when she heard her, watching for a moment before she was noticed. “Oh- Yeah, it is. I’m assuming that’s why your door is open?” She glanced around the room, crossing her arms across her chest. “What are you looking for?”

Avery hadn’t heard from Jule’s in what felt like months. She wasn’t sure what exactly she had done, but she also was too afraid to ask. And she didn’t want to bug Jules anymore than she felt like she already had. “Yeah, it helps a little…” the light haired girl trailed off, licking her lips quickly. “Uh, You know that silver necklace I always wear?” She questioned, not looking up from the drawer she had been digging in. “I took it off while I was showering, and I could’ve sworn that I put it on my dresser, but…” Avery paused, finally turning around again she shook her head. “I can’t find it anywhere,” With a defeated sigh the girl took a seat on her bed and buried her head in her hands.

“You’re freaking out over… a pencil?” He questioned, furrowing his brows. Was that too judgmental? He just didn’t understand what was so important about a pencil. Avery had never struck him as the superstitious type, you learn new things every day. “I haven’t seen your purple pencil. If you can’t find it, I can just go buy you a new one? I’m sure Target still has pretty purple pencils.” He leaned back on his hands. “Why don’t you take a break from searching and sit with me? I feel like it’s been forever since we’ve spent some quality time together.”

“But what if the new pencil you buy me isn’t lucky? it defeats the whole purpose.” As soon as the words left her mouth, Avery had realized how stupid it all sounded, but she had never been a good liar and that was the first thought that popped into her head. “I guess you’re right. There’s still a couple weeks before school starts anyhow...i’m sure i’ll find it before then,” She sighed, taking a seat next to him on her bed and moving her hair to cover her shoulder in hopes that would distract him from the missing necklace around her neck. “Are you still planning on going home soon?”

“Where’s what?” He questioned, leaning against the door frame watching his girlfriend with an amused expression. He walked further into the room when she finally acknowledged him, going to sit down on her bed. “Yeah, it is. It sucks because I’ve been doing those stupid… football drills.” He shook his head, running a hand through his hair. “But really babe, what are you looking for? Maybe I can help you.”

Avery swallowed trying to come up with something to tell him that she lost. She didn’t want to admit that she lost the necklace that he had gotten her for their anniversary. It had only been off of her neck for a minute, and the girl had done all but tear her room apart to find the thing “Just uh, my pencil! you know the really pretty purple one that I got from target? It’s sort of my good luck charm for test taking now, and what if I don’t have it for my senior year? I’m gonna end up being a hobo because I lost a pencil and couldn’t pass a test!” She cleared her throat as she finished her rambling, lifting her hands up in a shrug. “Have you seen it?”

“Where is it?!” Avery inquired out loud as she searched hastily through the drawers in her room. She hadn’t bothered to close her door since it was kinda hot in there today and the hallway had a nice air flow. “Ugh, It has to be in here somewhere!” The blonde groaned before noticing someone staring at her. “uh, hey.” she blushed softly, wondering how long they had been standing there watching her fumble around her room. “It’s uh, pretty hot out today, huh?”

Xander was sitting with Avery in his bed, his laptop set up in front of them playing some movie he had found on Netflix. “So…” He started, looking over at her. “Do you see yourself going home before the school year starts…again?” He had debated doing so himself, he hadn’t gone home yet for the summer and he was sure it’d make his parents happy. He almost wanted to ask Avery if she wanted to go with him. After all, neither of them had met the other’s parents yet. @avexlynn

Avery was so comfortable laying next to Xander that she had almost fallen asleep, even with her favorite show playing on Netflix it wasn’t enough to fight the sleepiness that had fallen over her. She lifted her head when xander began to talk though it took her a moment to open her eyes. “uh, I don’t think so.” her head shook as she thought more about his question. “are you going to go home?” the small girl countered, moving her hand to rest under her head.

Avery: maybe he just needs some alone time?
