It’s so easy to ignore / miss / misread these things the first time you read TDR then you get absolutely crushed by the ending because the entire book had just been nezha simp hours, then you come back to reread it and notice them and your mind is blown but still, you are equally crushed (actually more because then you realise that all this time Nezha hadn’t just been asking her to stay because he was scared, he was asking because he knew she’d eventually leave [and with regards to TBG’s end that takes it on a whole other level] and he was really asking for her to stay) and there’s really no difference other than the fact that now you can’t even fault rfkuang because she’s been telling you the entire book that despite their soft bantering and fish feeding and alcohol drinking, nezha was going to stab rin in the back eventually and yeah that’s just pain I guess :’)
