A story dedicated to the lovers who weren't loved.
“...For a long time I haven't liked anyone and I think Alice is one the best people I've ever met, I love spending time with her”,
Dahlia answered, then looking at Alice she said, “You’re my favorite person right now”, as she brushed through Alice’s hair.
Alice sighed at the touch and smiled, “thank you Dahlia, you're so sweet” and the light was dim.
Mercy had already teared up at the end of Dahlia’s monologue, Jen seemed so intensely focused as she zoned out, Claire was quiet as she usually was. But this wasn't a usual setting for any of them.
What started as a light-hearted truth or truth kinda game had now escalated emotionally and everybody was crying at everybody’s answers, except Alice and Jen ofcourse, Dahlia could never relate.
“So Alice, tell us about Jen” Mercy asked, sniffling a little as she laid down more comfortably on the bed, all five of them had migrated closer bringing the two single cot beds together.
“Jen” Alice paused looking like she was in deep thought and thoughtless at the same time, her eyes sparkling in the little light
“I don't know what to say about her” she chuckled and Dahlia’s sigh sounded a little like relief while the others were smiling. "there must be something" Mercy prompted her.
“Getting to know her throughout this year has been really nice” Alice added “that's pretty much it”,
“very elaborate i must say” Jen scoffed.
“Saying just one sentence is too much for you.” Alice rolled her eyes at Jen and they laughed at each other and everybody laughed along. Dahlia didn't realize her chuckle was faked until long after.
