Mike wondered if it was fair to answer that question. In all honesty, he had just about no clue what he was meant to say to that. Rachel meant the world to him, but he didn’t want her to rely on him fully. Mostly because he thought that he wouldn’t be able to hold his feelings back if that were true.

He laughed nonetheless. “You and me,” he announced with a bit of a smile. That wasn’t saying much though. How long had it just been the two of them? Years before it always had been like that. “We can do it. Definitely.”

The tiny brunette smiled like an idiot before sniffling as if she were about to but didn’t. She moved her hands to bring his face closer to her .She leaned over and planted a somewhat sloppy kiss on his cheek.(it was kind of their thing to do leave big wet kisses on each other,mostly to make each other laugh or every now and then to annoy the other one).

“Then it’s settled then, no more boys for me and you,”she paused, “You have tina.” She felt herself frown for reasons unknown and felt her heart ach just a bit but quickly covered it with her digging into the ice cream again.

Letting out a sigh, Mike shook his head. Rachel didn’t understand. It wasn’t like there weren’t dozens of guys out there that would be lucky to have Rachel. Hell, there was one that was sitting right next to her. She didn’t realize that though. In all likelihood, she never would understand it. 

“You were his third choice because he’s an idiot. I mean, come on. Do you really think that Finn is very smart?” That was a question that answered itself, wasn’t it? Finn had never been too bright. He never would. “See, you need a guy that’s going to always be there for you…”

Rachel looked at her best friend and gave him a smile. She then leaned over to kiss his cheek as well as let out a content sigh. “Why do i need a guy who is always going to be there for me when i have you,”she questioned not meaning any offense by her comment. For so long Mike had been the one consetant person she had in her life and it really sucked that she was just figuring out that now.

She leaned up so she wasn’t against him nor the bed onlly to turn her head and look at him. “You know what?from now on you are the only boy i need in my life. Just me and you senior year.”

Mike tried not to be glad when she said there was no more Finn. It wasn’t like he had any right to be. Rachel was obviously upset. However he felt about that relationship, he owed it to her to be supportive. It didn’t stop him from feeling a glimmer of hope before remembering that he still had Tina. He… cared about her, though they weren’t the same feelings that he had for Rachel.

“You’re too good for him,” he announced. He meant it too. Mike doubted that he would think that any guy was good enough for Rachel. That was the thing. He didn’t mention it though. “Don’t you think you deserve a guy just as talented as you? I mean, Finn was never gonna follow you to broadway.”

Rachel sat there for a few moments before Mike spoke to her. She leaned back and quickly made her way closer to him and rested her head on his shoulder as she took another bite of the vegan ice cream. “Don’t say that.I’m really not,”she said with a frown, “I mean i was his third choice so that has to mean something.” She took another bite before putting the spoon completely in the carton which was now between her legs as she buried her face into his neck for a few moments.

“I never wanted him to follow me i knew it was unrealistic,he’s to much of a country boy,”she admitted for the first time.

She could have been more upset. That was what Mike told himself. Rachel wasn’t crying. That was the one thing that he had to give her. Thankfully, he figured that he would be able to easily pull this off. Cheering Rachel off was something that he had always been good at – almost as good at that as he was dancing, he decided.

“I brought ice cream, he announced. Holding up the carton, Mike smiled at her. If Rachel didn’t like it, well, he had no idea what he was meant to do with it. It wasn’t like he wanted to eat it. He sat down on the edge of her bed. “So, no more Finn, huh?”

Rachel gave him a small smile as her entered the room. Something about just seeing his face made her feel better and some times made her heart skip a beat. Just sometimes though,no big deal. When he sat down next to her she gladly took the ice cream and spoon then read the label to make sure that it was infact  one hundred percent vegan.

“No more Fin,”Rachel said with her voice sligtly cracking then took a bite of the ice cream he’d brought her. “I just couldn’t and i don’t think i’ll ever be over the whole Santana thing. Or the Quinn thing. Or be good enough to him,”she explained after taking a huge spoonful.

Mike loved Rachel – he did. It was the typical story, a guy being hopelessly in love with his best friend. It would never work out though. He knew that, so those feelings were always filed away. Instead, he focused his energy on being the best best friend possible. Which sometimes meant dealing with Rachel when she focused too much energy on being… well, dramatic was the only word that came to mind. Though, today, he supposed that he could indulge the drama. Yet another breakup with Finn. Mike liked Finn, passively. His constant breakups with Rachel tended to sour Mike’s opinion a bit. Of course, Mike wasn’t exactly allowed to mind. Instead, he kept that to himself and focused on his own relationship with Tina. 

Arriving at the Berry house, Mike didn’t knock. That was a habit that he’d developed about ten years ago. Rachel’s dads tended to expect his comings and goings. He didn’t think much of it. Climbing the stairs, he knocked lightly on Rachel’s door. “Rach? It’s me. I brought vegan ice cream!” (Mike thought it was a little gross, but hey. Rachel needed it.) He opened the door a crack. “Can I come in?”

Rachel’s relationship with Mike was amazing yet confusing. Sometimes she’d catch him looking at her as if she’d hung the moon and then she’d catch herself doing the same thing. Then other times she saw him as a best friend and nothing more or so she told herself. Sometimes when she kissed other boys she wondered how Mike kissed tina but would quickly shake the thoughts off.

Her and Finn had broken up for what felt like the hundredth time but this time it was on her. She couldn’t forgive him for all the wrong he’d done to her and how she never felt good enough for him. Sure she was upset but she was sure she’d be over it eventually.She still did love him. The girl sat on her bed with her back pressed to her headboard just starring into space. “Yeah sure,”she said perking up a bit at the sound of his voice.
