being bilingual is understanding but not being able to translate because your brain couldnāt be bothered to do any extra work and is just content with knowing what the heck is going on
Being bilingual is sitting in the class of your second language and people asking you to translate the word and you struggle because you get the meaning, the feeling, the general aim of the word but canāt even use your own language to translate it.
iāll be honest: texting in french is somewhat of a nightmare. things are often written phonetically and literally nothing will look like the french in your textbook. however, just like actual french; it may be nonsense, but itās nonsense with rules.
in general: - no apostrophes - no accents - je/tu + ĆŖtre and je/tu + avoir become one word je suis ā jsuis tu as ā tas - je + any verb can become one word je dois ā jdois - objects become one word je lāai ā jlai - basically anything that can be combined is combined

hope this helps! and although i did make this list based off of things my friends have said, not everyone texts like this - donāt be too afraid!

This is on the bottom of the grammar explanation of Norwegian conjunctions on Duolingo.
My first reaction: ehm rude My second reaction: fair enough

What if disney and rosetta stoneā¦..teamed up together and the disney characters would teach lil kiddos how to speak a different language. Likeā¦belle and the beast teach french, aladdin and jasmine teach an arabic language, hercules and meg can teach greek, rapunzel teaches german (i think her tale is from germany), mulan and mushu teach chinese and lilo and stitch and Nani can teach the Hawaiian language.
How fuckin incredible would that be. Fun for kids and new knowledge on speaking another language.

when you get 5 questions right in a row on Duo:
reading in your target lang vs. listening to your target lang:
when you learn how to say ā92ā in French:
when someoneās like, āwhy are you even learning [x language]? thatās what google translateās for lolā and itās taking everything in you not to throttle them:
I remember when I took a linguistics class in high school (like 3 years ago) and my teacher showed us this site that was super cool but I canāt remember its name. I donāt remember 100% how it was structured but it was something along the lines of you type a word in English and it shows you the word in other IE-languages. Or if it was words with the same root in other languages? (I think the latter one) Like youād type āgardenā and you would get a map of Europe and on Sweden it says likeĀ āgĆ„rdā and on France ājardinā etc. as well as an English translation. I think it was something like that? Anyway, if anyone recognized this website please tell me what itās called!Ā
