Deaths kiss: Sienna & Ā Axel
Sienna nodded with his words; taking in a sharp breath she followed his gaze towards the trailers and already begun taking fast strides towards them avoiding any one who waved, said her name or otherwise tried to get her attention. Stopping outside the are of trailers she counted eleven, her heart sinking deeper with each number. Moving to the first one Sienna pulled on the door, yanking and pulling at the lock to no avail. tossing a look over at Axel she gestured towards the lock.Ā āYou look like a man who works out-ā A slight smile pulled at her lips as she nodded towards the lock.Ā āShe has to be here Axel, in one of these and remind me that when we save her that I owe you.ā She added gently before stepping aside and moving to a new trialer knocking on the doors and calling Laneyās name.
Each time she called out with no answer she felt something deeper than her heart break. It was as if her soul was being crushed, sttripped away from her and leaving her raw, broken in a way one couldnāt describe with the metaphors of a missing heart or holes inside somewhere that couldnāt be mended. Missing Laney was like missing herself as if it was the Angel who had raised her and made her into Sienna, the beautiful and mad girl she was. Property of no one and everyone and without the touch of Azreal sheād be another poor sad girl, lost and alone. Groaning Sienna tugged on a last lock, shouting for Laney and pressing her ear to the steel frame- the faint sound of something perked Siennaās head towards Axel.
When all the other crates had sounded hallow this one held a glimmer of promise. Tugging harder she kicked the door and shouted Laneyās name,Ā āAxel! Axel this one..we need to open this one!ā She cried yanking furiously at the door. It creaked in protest under her feeble attempts and soon tears washed over her face at how unbearably weak she felt.Ā āAxel please!ā
Watching Sienna's gaze fall upon the lock and after hearing her comment, he had briefly glanced around behind them to ensure there were no red blood eyes watching. It would simply be another person to take the time to use Glom and he'd much rather spend the time searching for the Angel of Death. He had promised Roan and as well as the promise made to Laney's best friend. All in all failing this mission wasn't something in his cards. Trailing back to the iron lock that the brunette nodded to, he finally took it into his palm and with a firm grasp tugged it from its hinges. "And we're shit out of luck," There's a long exhale as yet another trailer came up blank as he followed Sienna in pursuit of another.
While he watched the disappointment dawn on her face, he also saw the transformation when a noise came within one of them. Catching his attention, the blue blood quickly was by her side before ushering her to move slightly back. With two firm jolts of his body against the door, it soon yielded to his strength. His head pokes into the trailer before speaking a question he didn't quite know the answer to -- "Azrael?" Ā Hopefully this was finally the answers to their prayers.
Deaths kiss: Sienna & Ā Axel
Sienna buried her head in her hands, a languid and distressed sigh passing her lips as she fought off the urge to cry.Ā āI donāt know-ā She finally added raking her hair behind her ears before casting a somber look towards the man beside her.Ā āI donāt know- Iām so sorry for sounding so selfish, but if we donāt save her Iāll Ā have no family.ā She tried not to sound more dejected than she was, but the truth was her mother did not love her, not the way a mother should and her own father loved little fine white lines more than his own daughter. Without Laney this world would be lost to her and with it gone sheād lose everything, perhaps even herself.Ā
āI hate you seeing me like this-ā She admitted but unsure as to why the raw showcase of emotion in front of him made her feel like she was giving away too much to a man she hardly knew. She felt like at any moment she could cry, and cry so hard sheād fill the cab and end her suffering at once. However, the thoughts faded when the cab stopped and Sienna slid out of the door again. It seemed unreal that there was a party going on, there was the shrill shreik of laughter, and children having fun.Ā āIt seems unfair-ā she stated,Ā āLaney is dying and the world is still moving.āĀ
Her eyes followed the crowds envious of them all, wanting nothing more than to make them understand the importance of what they couldnāt even understand.Ā āLead the way- this is your mission.ā She gestured towards the darkest parts of the festival.Ā āItās sort of perfect..all this noise and screaming..no one would think it odd for a girl to be screaming..āĀ
Having one special person that if was lost would diminish meaning in life was something Axel could relate to. After all, it was his own nature that almost betrayed his bond mate and that haunted him till this day despite her survival. They were going to find her, there was no other choice. However, his mind roams and he questions what they were going to find. It was clear from the video that the Angel of Death was suffering. And suffering changed people.
Axel wasnāt the man to openly comfort, he responded better to coldness than he did to anything else for sheer fact he was accustomed to it. As he watched Siennaās movements, her grief as she buried her head in her hands, he almost offered a pat on the back but refrained. Instead he said, āCrying, from the moment you were born, is only an indication that you are alive,ā Axelās voice is soft, āWatching her suffering and having people think itās all a bloody game, itās enough to turn anyoneās stomach,ā
It was surreal the idea that they had left hours before going off a clue given and returned back where they started. Madness was what it was. As they surveyed their surroundings, he listens to her before nodding, taking a moment to stand and think. āYouāre right, follow me,ā He said firmly moving against the sea of people. Where could she be? A place more secluded than the rest but still apart of the festival. His eyes fall onto the outskirts of Hyde Park, a bunch of trailers used by the vendors and he felt compelled to at least check. As they continue to open the trailers, he then remembers the words Roan prompted during their call - where she is take her blood. Blues eyes trailed to Sienna as he realized he was thankful she was there with him.Ā
Call ā Axel Hall
Roan: Find her first, Axel.
Axel: Till then, Roan.
CallingĀ š± Axel
Vic: (There was a moment of pause, all that could be heard was the music of the event and the chatter of the crowd.) ... Be careful Zadkiel.
Axel: --Wouldn't dare leaving you in this world alone. (The sarcasm laced is meant to cover what he actually meant before saying firmly) Take care, Agares.
Deaths kiss: Sienna & Ā Axel
āOr that you live off blood- but that turned out not to be so terrible.ā She added before letting comfortable silence weaved intricately through her despair come over them. She didnāt have much to say that didnāt involve finding Laney and doing it fast and she could imagine that would grow tiresome of hearing after a short while. So she didnāt speak again, she only waited with the growing lump in her throat that took up more and more space every second she didnāt know Laney was ok.Ā
Inside the empty apartment complex she took careful steps, she felt the walls for hidden doors and stuck close to the glow of Axel, the only noises the occasional sigh when there was nothing to be found and the echo of foot steps marching towards unknown. Looking at him she shook her head an shrugged. I will be, she mouthed back as they rounded the last room where fliers scattered across the room and blew in the wind coming from and open window. It was empty and looked terrifyingly similar to the room Laney was in, only she wasnāt here and perhaps never was.Ā
Moving to close the window Sienna huffed pinching the bridge of her nose,Ā āHow many hours now until sheās gone..ā She trialed knowing the answer already. Looking to the mess on the floor she noticed all the fliers were old Block 122 events, all but one. Dropping to her knees she picked it up,Ā āItās the festival..the spring awakening-ā She rushed her words triplp over syllables and sounds before shoving the paper up at him a glimmer of hope lighting her somber features.Ā āThis guy is playing with you right..making a game leaving riddles when he took the eyes of those people, when he drowned those kids at that clubā¦when he killed all those kids at the four hundred ball itās all been laced with clues and taunting like a cat with a half dead mouse.āĀ
Standing Sienna placed hands gently on his chest,Ā āCome on we have to go back to the festival, she is there..this wouldnāt be here otherwise..ā Sienna knew there was a chance she could be wrong, a horrible heart wrenching chance but it was all she had a faded piece of paper that might lead her to her friend, that might save her life and for the first time since she was a child Sienna spoke a silent prayer to the man above who had cast Laney from heaven in the first place. Lord save us now.
There was a part of him that expected this ā finding the girl was never easy but it was a clue that was meant to be followed up on. Anything of use, anything that could be use as to the whereabouts of Laney McLeod wouldāve been bloody great. A long exhale later, he considered Siennaās question before rubbing his jaw.
Tick tick, Axel. Tick tock.
Watching her pick up the flier, he knew her words made sense. This was a game of something bigger than the both of them. In his thousands of years, he had seen some gruesome things and he always remembered the feeling of dread of what was to come. He could only hope that this time around they could preserve as their kind and the human race always did.
āItās all we have to go on right now,ā He said in reply before nodding, āBack to square one,ā The man turned his back before the two made their way out of the building, watching their step and as he double checked it on their way out. As the glow of his skin returned to normal, the two bodies made their way out to the street before hailing a cab.
āThe festival ā where exactly would we start?ā Axel asked before directing the cab driver.
Call ā Axel Hall
Roan: You wouldn't be Domus Veritas if I didn't trust you with the lives of my people.
Axel: I'll find her. I'll check in with you once something pops up.
Deaths kiss: Sienna & Ā Axel
Sienna hadnāt responded until he spoke of being in love with Azreal- a smile tugged at her lips and she shook her head as she stepped up to hail a cab,Ā āIām not in love with her- not romantically at least.ā She corrected a soft, far away tone in her words. Looking back at him as a cab stopped she let herself in telling the driver where to go. As Axel slid in beside her she finished her thought.Ā āLaney is the mother figure Iāve never had, the sister I never wanted..my best friend. If I ever had any family at all itās her..āĀ
Looking out the window her features pressed into a frown she could feel her heart beating ragged and painfully beneath the cage her bones had created for it.Ā āWithout her Iād have nothing..Iād may as well be dead-ā She said tracing the faint scars over her throat and neck from the attack she was starting to questions from months prior.Ā
āLaney and I- before I knew who she was I walked in on her and Lincoln..I still thought they were only siblings and seeing it didnāt effect me like youād think..I was angry she had been avoiding me to fuck him..Iād have understood if only she had told me..ā Looking back at him some of her personality seemed to have returned to her features as she reached for his hand a gentle squeeze, the only apology sheād ever give him.Ā āGirls like me donāt really fall in love..weāre the mistresses of married men, the muse of angels..the sexual release, the food- love is fickle, muses are forever.āĀ
She ended as the cab stopped outside the remains of Block 122, the apartment unoccupied beside it seemed darker, more ominous and Sienna couldnāt help herself from tearing the door open and running towards the entrance. Stopping just outside she remembered Axelās voice telling her to think and she waited for him, sheād let him lead but nothing and no one would stop her from saving Laney.
Whilst listening to the brunetteās correction, he nodded at the inner insight of Sienna on her relationship with the immortal angel. While Axel was the busy man he was, he wasnāt ignorant of the whispers of a girl who graced and fed a few of his brethren but yet never belonged to one individual. The depth of her standing with Azrael painted something that he could respect. As their cab driver drove to their destination, Axelās mind raced to imagine all the possibilities of what could be found near Block 122. He then returns his attention to Sienna before firmly saying, āWeāll find her,ā
He paused as the mention of the intricate bond of the McLeod twins, their physical forms were brought into this cycle as brother and sister but yet soul bonds transcended that. āI imagine it canāt be easy having to tell your best friend that in reality her brother is her soul mate,ā Axel watches her hand move towards him and he had understood that she liked the familiarity of touch although with him, he wasnāt used to tenderness in the least bit. Ā āI suppose that comes with less heartache,ā
As they exited the cab, his blue eyes travel to see her quick movements as he followed her. A tense gaze as he viewed what they were working with. There was something foreboding and the darkness didnāt help. Being that the ruins of the apartments didnāt come with electricity, a perk of being a blue blood was the power of Illuminata. His skin glowed and proved them a light source as they made their ways through the building. The feel of cobwebs crept on his skin as they found their way through a downward staircase. His head turns to look at Sienna before mouthing, are you okay?
CallingĀ š± Axel
Vic: (She sighed, looking around her general vicinity as if she were going to spot him in this mass of people.) I know. But as sick as it is, it's better this way. Better for them. The last thing we need is mass panic. You know that better than anyone...
Axel: (He shuffled his phone to his other ear, trying to get away from the crowd) That I do. Meanwhile, let us pray for Laney's return. I've got two days to play this blasted game of his.
CallingĀ š± Axel
Vic: (The fact that he answered calmed her down a little, though she hadn't known she needed calming.) I'm in the crowd somewhere. You saw it right?
Axel: (She's okay, his bond mate wasn't in immediate danger and that soothed him, the ability to hear her voice) Yeah, unfortunately. Sick thing is, the red bloods are sure getting a kick out of this.
CallingĀ š± Axel
Vic: (The big screens had gone black and the crowd around her had silently began to buzz again, all talking about the epic trailer for that new film. Everyone asking each other what it was called, and when it was out. Who was the actress, nobody recognized her. Without even thinking, she had pulled her phone from his pocket and clicked call.)
Axel: (The pandemonium stirred from the bold footage was rippling through the crowd and there was a part of him that was in the slightest bit grateful that the red bloods didn't know the horror trailer was in fact reality. He always found that in the sea of people, he would look for his bond mate. Like reflex he couldn't help but instead he sees her name on his phone) Victoire. Where are you?
Call ā Axel Hall
Roan: No one's dying tonight, Axel. You'll make it just fine. You've got more than two days... and the city's not as big as you think it is.
Axel: --While your complete confidence in me is appreciated, Roan, I have to admit I find myself slightly, ever so slightly, unnerved.
Call ā Axel Hall
Roan: Just grab a couple of conduits or familiars or something. They have to go with you.
Axel: The less people I have to worry about dying on my watch, the better. I'll find someone. But back to my question -- what happens when time runs out, Michael?
Call ā Axel Hall
Roan: Wa - wait, I need to move away from the excitement [ Pause ]- I need to find Ellie. Where ever she is, Axel, you'll need to take her blood.
Axel: Take her blood ... [there's a brief pause] And if I fail to do so?
Deaths kiss: Sienna & Ā Axel
Sienna opened her mouth to protest before he could even get the words out; her mind racing to all the impossible ways she could coheres an Angel, an immortal with more strength, more speed, more power than she would ever have with all her wiles. However, he surprised her agreeing. Still she did not release his arm, she held tighter as if she let go believing him than maybe heād make her a fool and zip away before she could even draw the curses from her lips.Ā āYou wonāt let me die-āĀ
She stated her eyes intense on his,Ā āBecause if you do Laney would kill you.ā She assured him with the swift understanding of the girls mind,Ā āAnd if we donāt find her youāll spend the rest of this life knowing our failure broke my heart- it may not seem like much to you, to have so many heart beats of your own, but this is all I get, this one and Iād lose everything without her.ā
Finally releasing his arms he dug her phone from her jean pocket,Ā āI canāt watch this-ā She cried unbridled tears rolling in waves over her cheeks as the image of the blonde came into focus for a moment before passing the phone to Axel. Every part of her shook before she took control of herself leaning against him to search the images playing like her worst nightmares.
Pointing to a vague sign she barley made out the faint lettering, some numbers perhaps.Ā āAxel what does that say?ā She questioned a certain hopefulness bubbling in her chest at the prospect of finding her.Ā ā Whipping her head back and forth,Ā āWalking is too slow.ā Her brain begun processing information faster than she could keep up.Ā āWe have to go, sheās there, she has to be there in the video the flyer-āĀ
Her words came out funny, too fast and too big for her mouth, one extended word where the start of others blended messily into the endings of the last. Ā Tugging his hand she begun pulling him away her feet acting on impulse and not moving fast enough for her. Tugging a dark lock of misplaced hair behind her ears she scoffed to prevent from screaming, holding onto Axelās hand with impressive strength for a girl of her stature.
Tensing at her persistent grip, he watches the surprise of his agreement dawn on her appearance. Her next words are ones Axel cannot promise verbally for the reason being that lately, too many people he promised to keep alive were the ones he buried. And while he was many things, he never wanted to become a liar. Intentional or not. No, she wonāt die. He remembered his mother in this life, the shining optimist who had whispered in the crown of his head the wishes and dreams a six year old will have, her polite speech reaching him --keep telling yourself that, darling, and maybe it'll come true.
(nothing bad will happen, youāll find the girl, save the day) if only it were that bloody easy.
āAnd Iām too young to die,ā Axel muses as he knew he didnāt want to unleash the wrath he knew Laney to be capable of. More so, there was always Lincoln to think about. Poor Abaddon, he didnāt want to imagine. Siennaās next utterances was one that caused his eyes to shift slightly, her gaze was intense at a reminder of another high stake. Though Zadkiel had grown apathetic in many mannerisms, he knew the depth of a heart and always softened at the idea of love knowing no bounds.
āA human girl in love with the Angel of Death, hm.ā A commentary he said more to himself that her, āAnd like I said, I intend to live long and the idea of adding a broken hearted girl onto my conscience is one I can go without. Very well, youāve made your point, Sienna.ā
Having watched the tears stream at the sight of Laneyās torturous scene and held the phone in his palm, again taking in the images as they moved on. As her finger pointed to the lettering, he paused the screen, it was fuzzy but there could be a connection to what he thought it could be. [122] It made sense, right? ā122. Block 122,ā He repeated, āItās a start,ā No sooner, the manās eyes fall onto his companion as her mind seemed to drag her a million places. He felt her hand reach for his, as her persistent tugging caused him to follow her. But as the bond mate to the Angel of Power, Axel had taken to taking a stand, swinging her back to look at him head on.
āLook at me. Youāre right, we donāt have much time. And I know how much you want to get Azrael back and believe me, thereās a lot dependent on that fact. But we cannot afford to act on impulse. For all we know, weāre feeding into his game,ā he reasoned, cautionary as he had preached with the venator under him āāSo take the time to breathe and to think. We can take a cab, everyone in London appears to be in Hyde Park so we can make our way there easier. Alright?ā
Call ā Axel Hall
Roan: There is not a person here today that has did not.
Axel: All eyes to you, Roan. You heard what he said, two days and three hours. What's your plan of action?
Call > Axel
Roan: [ I feel like he'd have been looking for Axel for a while before calling ring a ding ding ]
Axel: [ Cellular devices made for a good technology. Staring at his phone, his breath hitches slightly at the name before picking up with a statement not a question] You saw.
