Not TBTSA related, but due to some positive comments from the latest fic, I got inspired to make a cover.

How to Commit with a Stranger: Summary

After being told he’s “lower than a dog,” Nice decides he’s had enough of life’s expectations, disappointments, and himself. Suicide seems like the only logical conclusion until his attempt is rudely interrupted by a man yelling for ‘help’.

That man, Lin Ling, a nobody stuck on a billboard support beam after spectacularly botching his own suicide attempt. Instead of apologizing, he makes an offer.

“What do you think of a double-suicide?”

Or: Lin Ling jumps to death earlier before Nice arrives. But he fails and ends up interrupting Nice instead, because why be miserable when you can be miserable together?

Yang Cheng whom nobody trusts. Yang Cheng whom nobody expects anything of. Yang Cheng who dares not dream. Yang Cheng who feels undeserving of others’ love. Yang Cheng who can’t outright say what he wants. Yang Cheng who can’t envision a future for himself.

Shang Chao who trusts him. Shang Chao who expects things from him. Shang Chao who clearly states what he wants from him without beating around the bush. Shang Chao who patiently explains why he is worthy of trust and love. Shang Chao who loudly cheers him on. Shang Chao who shows him a path he could take. Shang Chao who supports him every step of the way. Shang Chao… who loves so honestly and bravely, he literally glows

and Yang Cheng feels like it’s all just a dream because… how could it be so good and bright and warm—

but then suddenly it’s raining

and suddenly the lights are off

suddenly he’s gone,

and Yang Cheng’s back to being on his own.

If he had been as brave and honest,

if he had kept loving without worrying—

—about gains and losses (拿得起放得下),

would he have reached him?

would he have saved him?

Shang Chao’s voice resounded in a way that felt unfamiliar.

(There are only three instances in the story in which Shang Chao held Yang Cheng’s wrist. One illustration can represent them all. What it means depends on ‘when’ you’re looking.)

P.S. The gauntlet is innacurate. Dokjayaaa hates drawing details. And suits. And anything related. Literally anything put is not aesthetic choice but because it’s what she feels like putting. And yes she’s too lazy to recheck the show for ref to fix.

Xia Qing peeked. “Something’s written”
