It just dawned on me that Doumeki has never really questioned anything, thus he never really knew anything.

He probably never knew why Watanuki was being hunted down by those spirits. He probably never knew about Watanuki's relation to Tsubasa or that that was the reason why he was so self destructive.

But he never questioned because he didnt care about the why. He never felt that Watanuki's existence was wrong.

He couldnt live without Watanuki, so he gave his all to have him there. Even when the cost was too high (his eye, his arm, his freedom, his pain, his family..). He never questioned the spirits that he couldnt see because he did see Watanuki suffering and that was all that he cared about. To him Watanuki couldnt be a duplicate because he was unique, and precious and the one he treasured and loved the most in the world.

He couldnt give a ring to Watanuki but he did give his heart and his soul.
