    there’s a chorus of fuck’s sounding off in her head , though the unladylike word would never dare slip passed perfectly painted lips in a public setting like this . this wasn’t how it was supposed to happen - granted , nothing that’s happened in the last year has gone to plan . but an almost collision bringing about a chance meeting of old friends wasn’t exactly madison’s idea of a  good morning  . shock graces her features as shame lingers in the center of her chest . is anyone else feeling a little faint ? or is she just being dramatic as always ? “could’ve been worse . my parents forgot me at the airport . i’d take the coffee welcome over that 2 hour wait then awkward car ride home any day .” she doesn’t know why she brings that up . it’s like a force of habit for her to be candid with her best friend . which is  I R O N I C  considering how guarded she’s been as of late . feet shuffle anxiously as blue hues glance at everything but the face she’s been avoiding for months and months and months . “i’m sorry , um , i probably should’ve said something .” it’s true for a lot of reasons . “no spills here , thank goodness …” a beat of silence accompanied by a subtle cringe as maddie comes to the gut wrenching realization that she has no idea how to talk to azaria anymore . “it’s funny seeing you here … i mean , the coffee on the other side of town is , like , wayyy better .”
