Since I cannot escape the objectivity crushing me nor the subjectivity expelling me,since I cannot rise to a state of being nor collapse into nothingness…I have to listen, more than ever I have to look around me,at the world.

Society, culture and faith
Society, culture and faith for all intent and purpose is intertwined. The components in singularity or combined have played a critical role in the space of our lives of past, present and in the future. I am fascinated by how ancient ideas of rituals, practices, asceticism and myths survive unchanged.
My initial project/focus is to achieve a deeper understanding and in turn visualising and articulating these ancient rituals and practices and how it sits with the modern age. Initially focusing on Hinduism practices in Varanasi on the banks of the Ganges.
There are many works of literature, narratives and photographs on the major religions of the world. In this respect there are photographers/ artists whom have worked in this or similar areas the like of Abbas Attar and Raghubir Singh.
As an extension to the current focus of religion, I continue to explore areas of society and culture. These 3 areas are intertwined. When there is a lack of one, the dynamics of humans, the way we seem to change.
When one is exploring a number of areas in parallel, the benefits is the learning of something in one area maybe applied in the other. This continued iteration and helix like engagement serves a greater learning ~ the melding of ideas. Knowing how to manage the “spin” is key. That in itself would be a discovery.
In the area of society, photographers/ artist that I have gravitated to are the likes of Sebastião Salgado, Roy DeCarava and Gordon Parks.
