A quick update on how Book 1.5 and Book 2 are going, as well as the general future of my work.
This is dramatic, but please consider...
When your art begins to kick and scream, breaking the medium its housed in and rejecting the scrutiny of your sore eyes...
It's time to be done with it.
I think, at that point, your art is telling you to move on. Go work on something else, something that can be what you want it to be.
Lore debt is real!
So like, when you work on a setting for a long time, you collect a lot of lore debt (Outdated lore, poor organization choices, etc.). Especially if your a greenhorn or are going solo.
Lots of folk dread fixing this debt, seeing it as a chore. But I don't think it has to be!
Instead of a chore, think of it as an opportunity to explore, reevaluate, and have fun with it!
Ask yourself questions, research your inspirations, interrogate how your characters feel about it! By the end, you'll have had tidied up AND discovered things about your world you wouldn't have thought possible.
