1.  i am selective – edging on private – and i like to keep things mutuals only. my reply speed ranges from half an hour to about a month, and there will be times where i reply to certain threads over others. i don’t use a thread tracker or anything i mostly just rely on going through my notes so if you think i forgot smth/dropped a thread, hmu so i can reply or write you another starter.

2. pre-established relationships of the non-romantic variety are always welcome, even without any prior plotting. if we’re shipping romantically, i ask that you be 20+ for my own comfort.

3. no tolerance for racism/anti-blackness, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, misogyny, fatphobia, pedophilia, ableism, etc.

4. i have no issue with suggestive themes, but anything explicit will probably be kept off the dash or to headcanons.

5. i have no issue with people reblogging things from me like memes, text posts, etc. i only ask that you follow any designations under edits i may make (such as “mutuals or writing partners only”) and that you don’t interact with threads that aren’t yours.

6. i tag triggers as      TRIGGER //     and i will read the rules of anyone that i form a mutual with to make sure i tag any triggers explicitly mentioned. this blog and character in general deals heavily with things like DEPRESSION, ILLNESS, DRUG AND ALCOHOL USE, MEDICAL TRAUMA, ETC. if any those things trigger you, i’d advise against following this blog, because most of it is untagged.

"thanks, man." the beautiful thing about this is that it could have gone in one ear and out the other and the only thing that really matters is that he's lifted that very metaphorical weight. "what about you? anything bothering you lately?"

reviews are fodder. if they are so curious about how the restaurant operates, people should just come here and experience it for themselves. divina doesn't understand why everything has to be online nowadays. "no, i am on break. ask your server."

"...okay." he doesn't know if she's trying to be rude or not. he guesses that as long as the food is good - and comes out before his pretty short attention span runs out - he doesn't really care. "but you can't give me like an estimate or something?"

"I do no-" The protest is cut off as she squeals, ice sliding down the back of her neck and down her exposed back.

Okay, maybe she deserves that - and maybe she knows it, judging by the way she pouts at him without further protest.

"You get to spend all night with me on a boat in a bikini." Is that not enough? "And I'll suck your dick too, if you want."

he laughs, probably harder than necessary, feeling quite pleased with himself. his expression cools into a smile, even as he waves a dismissive hand at her pout.

the bikini thing is a fair point - the second offer is just icing on top, judging by the grin that splits his features. "so generous. can i trust you to follow through on that?"

We’re the same age. You take that back. Maybe not exactly the same age, but close enough in the bracket.

Oh? She hadn’t actually expected him to say yes - so when he does, she’s over the moon. Obviously. Or I can make dinner. Can’t watch shows like that on an empty stomach. It’ll be nice to have some company while she watches - Poppy’s all for a solo date, but sometimes you just need someone to yap to about the poor decision making of people on TV.

well, maybe age is only part of it, and the other is his long-standing aversion to social media. "always been told i had an old soul - maybe that's what it is."

"dinner and love island." he lofts his brows. "if i knew all i had to do to get that was regale you with tales from the book club, i would have done that a long time ago."

Okay well. He’s FAFO’d there, hasn’t he? Flynn doesn’t say anything in response to that, which is surely as loud as anything verbal he could surely think of saying.

Instead, he pivots to the next part of what Amari says. “I like your stuff.” An olive branch, or else he wouldn’t be trying to get this going. “I have some thoughts about some things you could do. You wanna have a look at some of my equipment, see if it’ll work better for you?”

that's about as far as he'll take it - he doesn't really want to actually hurt flynn's feelings, and he likes talking gear regardless.

amari smiles. "thanks. and yeah! show me the stuff you use all the time, maybe play me some tunes and show me what you use it for."

"no, no, i know how to hold liquor. just not like you, i guess," she laughs, and her fingers find the shot in front of her, a smile plastered on her lips. corinna thinks this might the shot that makes her puke, but she'll hold tough. "teach me, though."

the 'like you' qualifier doesn't change his curriculum much. "alright, so." he grabs his own little shot glass to demonstrate, tossing it back with a shake of his head. it clinks when he sets it back on the table. "take the shot. don't throw up."

her stomach churns at the idea of another drink, but she's going to do it anyway. "yeah, yeah. you gonna pay for my medical bills when i have a hangover from hell tomorrow, and need to be severely medicated?"

he grins. "nah. i'm about to give you a crash course on how to hold your liquor. step one," he grabs a glass from the tray, and sets it in front of her. "take a shot with me."

It's half a joke, and half Flynn just enjoying making people uncomfortable. The awkward silence is pure gold.

"But you haven't won, right?" A lot of confidence from a man with 3am radio play, especially if he ever wants to work with Amari. "What's your gear like, then? Do you produce your own stuff?"

"okay," he exhales. "and have you been nominated? 'cause you're talking a lot of shit if you haven't."

amari shrugs, then realizes that's a little bit useless and says, "yeah, partially. i don't know." a beat. "i'd def make some different decisions about preamps and shit, for one."

Hmm. Poppy's not sure she wants the misery, or the task of reading a set book in a set timeframe just to get a little bit of drama. She shakes her head.

Boring. Says the girl into cookie-cutter romance books. They get her every time. I'm impressed you find the time.

Then, she just spends her time doing different things.

Love Island starts up again soon. Wanna watch party with me? Almost as much drama as your book club.

fair enough. he wouldn't join if he weren't already so well entrenched. "well, i'm too old for tiktok," he says. "what else am i supposed to do with my free time?"

love island, apparently, is the answer. "mm, sure." it's a little lowbrow for his tastes, but out of all the guilty pleasures he's ever had, a tv show surely isn't the worst of them. "we'll have good snacks?"

Billie still bounds over to where he's bent over, leaning over his back to press a kiss to his cheek as she switches to Spanish. "You're the best, baby."

Hear the denial about being needy? Can't deny what's true.

"you take advantage of me," he says, switching over with her. he's fully joking but just annoyed, and he picks a piece of ice from the cooler and reaches up to drop it on her head.

"and what do i get in return? hmm?"

"That's rude. You would judge a man with a disability?"

Also, what's wrong with his gear?

"Like you could do better. I got a song on the radio with this stuff."

he can't tell if that's supposed to be a joke or not, so he pauses a little awkwardly. "is that - i'd judge anyone else. so shouldn't i judge you, too?"

but his diffidence soon evaporates. "man, i'm grammy nominated." a beat. "we just got different tastes, i guess."

That is juicy. Poppy notes, nodding and tossing him a grateful smile at the water.

So what's the fallout? Are we all surrendering to the Zoom host? Is there an uprising? Do I have to join your bookclub to get the details first hand?

A pause. What was their book?

"we're all kinda at their mercy, until someone decides to take one for the team and either say something or start some secret side piece club." it is generally not that serious, although the fact that most adults still seem to function largely like preschoolers is annoying. "you would get the details and the misery, so that's up to you."

teddy shrugs. "some sci-fi fantasy thing. 800 pages long and they're still wondering why no one wants to read it."
