A lone wolf named Staqeya (also written Takaya) that has roamed Victoria on Vacouver island since 2012. Unfortunately he was shot and killed on january 2020, leaving the people of Canada hearbroken.
You can read his unusual and touching story here.
I have anxiety and I love Jesus.
Contrary to popular belief one does not cancel out the other. The amount of faith I have does not directly correlate with the amount of anxiety I have every single day.
No matter how many chapters in my bible I read or how many worship songs I listen to, I still struggle and that’s OKAY. Jesus still loves me even though most don’t understand.
People point to Philippians 4:6-7 as proof that Christians shouldn’t deal with anxiety, even taking it a step further to question your faith. The belief stems from the interpretation that to be anxious for anything means to not have faith in God...and this couldn’t be further from the truth.
“Be anxious for nothing . . .” we’re instructed, telling us instead, how to bring our worries to God and trust in Him, find peace in Him. The belief that this rebukes all anxiety from someone’s heart comes from a basic misunderstanding of what anxiety actually is.
Anxiety is irritability. It’s a racing heart, shallow breaths, sometimes uncontrollable crying. Anxiety is feeling your body leap into fight or flight mode with absolutely no reason. It’s shaking hands, bouncing legs, hyperventilating. Anxiety is stomach aches, headaches, eye twitches, anger. Anxiety is a whole-body experience, something that can be triggered by anything or can appear out of nowhere.
Anxiety is a medical condition that is not born from a lack of faith. Please stop assuming that because someone struggles with their mental health that they lack a relationship with Jesus. I’ve seen the prayers of some of the most anxious people move mountains, myself included. I’ve seen Jesus bless those with an anxious heart abundantly. So, if you struggle with anxiety just know that it’s okay and it doesn’t make you any less of a Believer.
Hi there, sorry to interrupt your scrolling, I just wanted you to know that I THINK YOU ARE AMAZING! ❤️
Who knows about Sally Hemings?
She was Thomas Jefferson's slave.
Called his "mistress," but how can you be a mistress when you were a slave, a child, and could not consent? Had absolutely no choice?
She bore him 6, perhaps as many as 8 children. He kept her locked in a basement room.
The room was recently unearthed, and DNA evidence has proven the lineage of Sally's children.
She was beteeen 12 and 14 years old when he started raping her, and Jefferson was in his forties. He freed the children that he had with her, but not Sally. Her daughter had to free her mother after Jefferson passed away.
This is not taught in schools. This side of history. We are supposed to consider the founding fathers as great men, fighting for justice and freedom, guided by God... when they are evil men. Selfish men who did nothing, save that it was for their own aggrandisement, personal benefit, and financial gain.
I would also like to add that Sally was Jefferson's dead wife's half sister. Sally's mother was raped by her owner, who was Martha (wife of Thomas) Jefferson's father.
These people left a legacy.
A legacy of entitlement under the most criminal of circumstances, and White Supremacist beliefs which pervade U.S. Society and Culture, to this very day.
A mood.
