Humans have the power to rule the animal kingdom and true power is love not fear so yeah thankyou for doing your bit with wolves, i have always loved them and adored them, its important for people to know how smart animals are especial these beautiful creatures i feel like humans are the stupidest animals here right now destroying everything. sorry for the little rant, i love your blog! (am a cat person tho #tigers r my favourite hehe)
I agree with you so much! I feel like us humans are too dumb to be as smart as we are... if that makes sense. It kind of would be better for everyone and everything if we stayed in the caves. That said, I think we are slowly moving in the right direction. Slowly tho, and maybe too slow.
Cat persons are also very welcome here :D and who doesn't love tigers? Do you have a favourite subspecies?
My favourite animals varies greatly, but wolves, orcas and mustelids are steady on top (how can one choose just one!?).

The norwegian annual wolf hunt - the licensed hunt - is not due to overpopulation. We have about 100 wolves that is allowed to live in a "wolf zone" which covers about 5% of norwegian land.
The wolf hunt basically happens because the wolves kill sheep and dogs. They call it population control, but really it is just greed and war on nature.
The hunt lasts from 1st of december, but I'm not sure exactly how long it lasts. Wolf hunting is very popular in Norway, but you have to be an specially approved hunter to be able to participate.
I personally think the wolf hunt should be executed by SNO (Norwegian wildlife rangers). This is because the "common" wolf hunter often have a personal interest to kill wolves. Illegal wolf killings and even deliberately painful killings have been done. I'm not saying this is the most common behaviour of norwegian wolf hunters, and I'm sure most hunters are professional. Still, the kill, shovel and shut up culture is strong in norwegian wolf haters. I've experienced that first hand. SNO are professional rangers and have a different view of nature is my experience. Most of them take no pleasure in hunting wolves.
The corpses are given to Norwegian Institute of Nature Science I believe.
