(Sorry replying took so long, I got finals to prepare for and I don’t like giving people rushed answers that are half-assed *sweats*)
Hmm let’s see. I think I’mma start with my personal headcanons lmao, here goes!
- Liu QingGe pines
- He pines very, very hard
- Yet, even though his emotions were certainly not lacking in intensity, his dumb ass never realizes that he’s in love with Shen QingQiu
- Shen QingQiu, the dense, oblivious idiot, never notices anything (Despite everything that happens in canon, Shen QingQiu firmly holds on to the belief that Liu QingGe is #1 Straight Man. Let us join our hands in prayer for Great Master Liu.)
- If we go down the angsty path, Liu QingGe never figures out his feelings until BingQiu becomes a thing (and wishes that he’d never figured it out instead) (wait won’t this be a good place to put in Hanahaki?!)
- If we go down the happier path, Liu QingGe would accidentally confess in the middle of a serious situation (Say, Shen QingQiu’s poison probably flared up while they were in the middle of battle and he would’ve died if Liu QingGe wasn’t around. Liu QingGe snaps at him, telling him to take better care of himself, and while SQQ is confused where all this anger is coming from, LQG gives the clumsiest confession ever: “If you can’t stay safe, then leave yourself to me and let me protect you!”)
- That’s actually the moment Liu QingGe realizes he’s in love
- … And Shen QingQiu’s oblivious ass would still not get it (”Shidi is so reliable!”)

- If Luo BingHe is a puppy, then Liu QingGe is a cat
- I mean, he brings Shen QingQiu spoils from his hunt
- Probably hisses at Shen QingQiu when he tries to pet him too
- And that aphrodisiac episode makes me think of catnip
- Imagine how much fun we could have, throwing catnip at Cat!Liu
- Shen QingQiu is truly the Best Pet Owner. He patiently puts up with not only a puppy with severe abandonment issue, but also a proud tsundere cat who has no idea how to be affectionate
- Will Shen QingQiu ever catch a break?
Lmao headcanons ended up way longer than intended. But to make up for the late reply, I’mma list some of the most important canon Liu QingGe => Shen QingQiu moments (that I remember clearly, at least)
- saving Shen QingQiu’s hide when Sha HuaLing attacked Qiong Ding (do keep in mind that at this point, their relationship was still terrible)
- was ready to declare war against the other sects to protect Shen QingQiu in Jinlan City (only stopped because he respects Yue QingYuan and YQY told him to back down (cus our Sect Leader wanted to step up and protect Shen QingQiu himself))
- readily jumping in to help out Shen QingQiu in Huayue City
- fought for Shen QingQiu’s corpse for FIVE ENTIRE YEARS with Luo BingHe despite always losing (I feel sorry for Liu QingGe but I can never get over the way he fumbled with Shen QingQiu’s corpse and almost tossed it right back)
- when he found out that Shen QingQiu was alive, he was so shocked he couldn’t even speak. Lost his balance too, though that might be because he’d fought for an entire day with Luo BingHe. But he took one look at Luo BingHe holding Shen QingQiu’s arm and was just, “You, let him go.”
- immediately went to chase Shen QingQiu who had been taken by Luo BingHe after exiting secluded meditation
- refused to let Luo BingHe share a room with Shen QingQiu when the three of them had to share two rooms (Quoted directly, “That guy could hold a corpse for five years. Now that the living person was standing in front of him, who knew what kind of things he would do?”) after he retrieved those two from TianLang Jun and ZhuZhi Lang
(Shen QingQiu solved this problem by getting in one room and locking the two of them outside)
(On another note, I’m pretty sure this is where Shen QingQiu first saw the three volumes of Resentment of the Chunshan)
- kept Shen QingQiu’s folding fan for FIVE ENTIRE YEARS and returned it in perfect condition
- openly fought the other sects to protect Shen QingQiu (Yue QingYuan started first, and Liu QingGe followed his lead because it meant Yue QingYuan was giving him permission to do this)
- was the one to find Shen QingQiu (and, by extension, Luo BingHe who was holding onto him and refusing to let go no matter what) after the fiasco with TianLang Jun
- found Shen QingQiu’s fan yet again (prolly went through hell to find it because there was literally no way to tell where it had fallen off in the fight)
- basically always had Shen QingQiu as his priority
- do I even need to mention the Succubi extra?
I think it’s also worth noting that Liu QingGe’s LBH-radar is amazing and he seemed to always be able to tell when Luo BingHe was nearby or just left
And he’s always the one who gets most worked up whenever Luo BingHe is mentioned
I really love Liu QingGe okay I really love LiuShen too please ship them with me *sobs*
