Horoscopes with Katherine McNamara
Bucky didn’t really wobble when the girl flung herself at him, though he took a few steps forward when she started pushing on him. Instinct had him reaching up to grip her arm, ready to flip her over his shoulder, before she spoke. He frowned. “I don’t know. It’s been a while since I’ve been on a roller coaster.”
Barbara frowned at the man practically stiffened and his hand moved to grab her upper arm. Stepping back, Barbara pushed a few stray curls away from her face. “Sorry about that. But that’s all the more reason to go on again.”
“Woah!” Taking a few steps back, she gave Barbara’s back a few pats. “I’m not really a coaster person, but I’m willing to try. If I cry, you can’t tell anyone.”
"I promise I won't tell a soul." Barbara promised, placing her hand above her heart. “Scouts honor.”
Nyx was surprised by the person who had attacked…hugged her. Stepping back she glanced over the girl wondering where she had seen the girl before. “Umm..Sure.”
Barbara smiled slightly and felt somewhat bad for practically mauling the wrong person, but at the same time she wasn't; it mean’t she had someone to enjoy the rides with rather than waiting for someone. “Awesome... Sorry about that... I’m Barbara.”
Her hat hung low on her face and Barbara was having fun so far. Her broken wrist from her run in with the joker was easily hid under her red trench coat. Moving through the crowds of people, she spotted a familiar face in the crowd and rushed up behind them. Throwing her arms around their neck and practically shoving them forewords, she spoke to them. "Go on the roller coaster with me?" She asked, peering around their shoulder to look at their face.
“Batgirl! Batgirl!” so they sang // The soldiers on parade // The joy of France, Provence’s pride // A heroine, their maid!

Commissioner Gordon’s daughter still refused to scream, beginning to enrage the psychopathic clown. “If you aren’t going to comply, what good are you alive?” the Joker asked in a pur, rage visible in his electric green hues. He trained his rifle on the young redhead and as he prepared to squeeze the trigger, the party was rudely interrupted. Looking back at his fallen goons, a grin slowly overtook Joker’s features. “Bats!” he welcomed with a laugh. “I’ve missed you, old boy! But unless the man under the cowl is Gordon, you truly have no business here,” he ended with a low growl.
As a batarang was tossed his way, the Joker jumped sideways towards the redhead to dodge it. Dropping the assault rifle and pulling out a knife, he used the woman as a human shield, knife slightly pressed against her throat. “Back up!” the Clown Prince of crime demanded. “Or she’ll have a crimson smile across her throat.”
She never felt helpless. Even when in a wheel chair and behind a computer, she always felt valuable and as if she was doing something worthwhile, but as she laid on the floor; her wrist cradled to her chest which she was pretty sure she had broken, she felt helpless. She couldn't help the smile that crossed her face. "I'm very useful alive." She replied, almost mimicking his smile he always seemed to have plastered across his stupid face. Stilling when she had the gun pointed at her, Barbara waited for the shot to ring and her world to go back. Though, her eyes flew open when Joker spoke next. "Batman..." she mumbled, trying to push herself up into a sitting position.
A batarang was flung and Barbara flinched slightly as she ducked trying to avoid its intended direction, though, she knew it wouldn't come near her. A cry passed her lips when she was roughly tugged to her feet; her wrist stinging in protest as she clawed at Jokers hold around her. The knife felt cool against her skin, and Barbara silently watched the cowled figure in front of her. If need be, she could easily elbow her way out of Jokers hold, but after that, she didn't have anything.

“Hey nope- uh, you kind of can’t do that?” Yeah, not very assertive, Gwen. Gotta get that super hero voice of yours going. “Hold still, would ya?” A flick of her wrist and the web shooter nails the other, securing them to the wall behind them. “See, told you to stop. Does anyone ever listen to the spider girl? Nah, they don’t. Rather just get stuck to a wall. Now- odd question. Any idea how I’m going to get the police here?” Way to go, Gwendolyne Stacy. Congratulations, got your first criminal in the new city and with no clue on how to the the GCPD to show up.
It was fairly quiet out considering what had been happening the past few weeks and the chaos that had ensued, but Batgirl knew for a fact it wasn’t a good thing that the streets were quiet; it usually meant something was being planned, or something was going to happen, and it didn’t sit well with her. Flinging her grappling hook from one building to another and swinging between alleyways, Barbara heard a commotion below her. Dropping down, she crouched low to absorb the shock from her landing and to be slightly stealthy. Moving around the corner, her eyebrows raised slightly. “You have the local leo’s number?” She asked, hearing the others question to the goon.
The Red Hood sighed with relief when he noticed Barbara had been unharmed. Suddenly, alarm overtook the bit of her features he could make out and he frowned. Batgirl’s warning sent the vigilante to his knees as she shot her batarang at the upcoming threat. The man took the hit to the chest and went down, wheezing softly as he twitched. He didn’t get back up though. “Good aim,” Jason complimented as he stood back up. “Wanna take a look at what we have here?” the Red Hood asked her with childish excitement as he skipped towards the truck. Fighting alongside Barbara made him very happy. Memories of happier times flooding his mind.
Breathing heavily as she tried to catch her breath, she pushed back a red curl that had fallen out from her cowl behind her ear. She watched the male she had hit with her batarang closely in case he decided to get back up again. Though, when she was sure the man didn’t move from his spot on the ground did Barbara hoist herself from her knees to her feet. “I like to think so.” She hummed, dusting her hands off on her pants. Blinking, Batgirl smiled. “Alright.” She agreed, following after Jason towards the truck. God she had missed this; missed him. It was good to have him back, even though it wasn’t the most ideal way he had been brought back..

The Joker didn’t even seem to register the woman’s nails digging into his skin, although he felt the blood beging to trickle down his forearm. He finally released the redhead when she refused to scream for him. Without missing a beat, he backhanded her so hard, the back of his hand stung. “Let’s try this again…” the Joker purred as he stood over Commissioner Gordon’s daughter. “Scream for your daddy,” he ordered as he aimed his rifle at her head. “Pretty please, with a cherry on top?” the clown added with a wide grin.
The smack had her head spinning and her knees connecting with the floor. Extending her arms to try and break the fall, her palms connected with the tile and her wrist twisted the wrong way as her body moved to do a roll. Tears stung her eyes as her wrist throbbed, but she refused to cry. She refused to scream. She wasn't going to give him any kind of satisfaction again. Chewing her bottom lip between her teeth, Barbara stared up at the Joker; tears blurring her vision and the barrel of a gun pointed directly at her forehead. "No." she snapped, pushing herself into a sitting position and wiping the blood dripping from her nose from the back hand he delivered her.
The Red Hood stood over two lifeless bodies, blood dripping from his dagger as he turned on search for Batgirl. Seeing the man had her by the hair, the vigilante frowned under his helmet. Pulling out his magnum, a shot rang through the night as he aimed at the goon’s back as Jason walked towards them. The bullet penetrated through his left shoulder blade and the man went to his knees, still alive. Letting his handgun fall back into its holster, he dedicated a strong kick to the man’s jaw and watched him fall unconcious to the ground.
“You good?” he asked Batgirl, offering his hand without noticing one of the crooks he had previously knocked out, standing up and reaching for his weapon.
She almost had him. If she could just move her hand from his throat quick enough to grab her last batarang strapped at her waist, she could slash him where it counted and he would release her. Gasping for air, her fingers moved quickly, but the man had anticipated her movement and grabbed her hand. Growling, she stretched as best as she could to find the cool, familiar metal on her finger tips, but was coming up short. A shot rang out and Barbara stilled, afraid she was on the receiving end, but when the man dropped, and her airway cleared, Batgirl was glancing over her shoulder at Jason; gun raised and smoke coming from the barrel.
"Yeah," she replied, fixing her cowl. "You?" She asked, turning to face him when she noticed the man get up behind him. "Watch it!" She cried out, hand moving quickly and flinging the batarang at the man and watching as it lodged itself in his chest.

The Joker’s electric green hues studied both females. The redhead answered his question, and for a moment, he didn’t even seemed to register she had spoken. But after a moment, the Clown Prince of Gotham began to laugh maniacally. Taking a deep breath, his gaze returned to the redhead. “Wrong answer.” The moment the words were past his lips, the Joker opened fire and shot the wounded woman in the forehead. Blood splattered everywhere, and the Joker still laughed.
Reaching down, he gripped the redhead’s arm and forced her up to her feet. “Come out, Commissioner! You couldn’t deny this offspring, even if you wanted to! Come out and she won’t take a bullet to the face!” the Joker bargained loudly before turning to face the young woman in his grip. “Will you scream for me? … Please?” he asked with a wide grin.
The woman beneath her whimpered like a kicked puppy as Barbara continued to try and stop the bleeding. A shiver ran down her spine when Joker laughed and Barbara's mind went back to the night that this man shot her and altered her life for good. Despite being able to walk again, she could still remember that night and its consequences. Opening her mouth to say something back, a startled gasp passed her lips when the woman's life disappeared from her eyes and her blood spattered all over Barbara's face.
His fingers wrapped harshly around her fore arm and she was roughly pulled to her feet. "Let me go." She hissed, finger nails digging into the flesh of his hand. Oh god how she wished she had a batarang on her right now. Bearing her teeth and struggling against his hold, Barbara looked the maniac straight in the eyes. "You won't get that satisfaction from me." She hissed.

His gang rushed in, features covered by clown masks, armed with M16s and Uzis. Anybody that moved towards them fell lifeless onto the building’s floor. Blood began to stain the tiles as the Joker’s maniac laughter echoed through the building. Smoke spread through the air, the smell of burning flesh and wood flooding the clown’s nostrils. “Come out, come out, wherever you are!” Joker holleredas he walked deeper into the police station. “Didn’t you want me, Commissioner?!” the maniac questioned as he shot down three officers who rushed at him from the stairs’ exit. “Here I am!”
Watching as his goons cleared out room after room, the Joker frowned slightly. Was Gordon really going to be a coward and hide out until the inevitable happened? Until Joker found him and ended him? Movement caught the clown’s attention, and his crazed gaze fell upon the familiar red head. “What are you doing down there, kitten?” he purred as a wide grin spread across his red lips. “You look so familiar….”
Why could this man that reigned over the city with chaos just give up? What was there to gain out of this? What was there to win? Bragging rights? Satisfaction? Barbara couldn’t think of anything that could turn a man into a monster like the one that stood in front of her. Ducking low when a hail of bullets rained down on them, Barbara slid across the floor to a woman who was silently crying as she held her leg and upper body; blood seeping through her fingers.
Her spine went rigid as Joker called out for her father. She knew her father. He’d be making a plan of attack as best as he could under this kind of situation. Pressing her hands against the woman’s body to stop the bleeding, Barbara mumbled to her that everything would be alright and that she would be ok. Pushing her hair out of her face, blood smeared across her skin as she tried to calm the woman. As she was finally making progress with the woman, she had been spotted. Her lips pressed into a firm line and she glanced up at the familiar face above her. “You have me confused with someone elder." She replied dryly.

The moment the first biker fell, the second stopped and pulled out a handgun. Training his rifle on the man, Jason hesitated. Under his helmet, a smile spread across his lips as he caught sight of Batgirl handling him. Slinging his rifle over his shoulder, the Red Hood noticed the truck had stopped as well and four armed thugs descended in response of their attack. Pulling out his kris dagger, he readied himself for the incoming threat.
Dodging a handful of bullets, his forearm intercepted a punch directed at his head. A forceful kick to his attacker’s stomach sent the towering back stumbling back as the Red Hood disarmed another thug. Looking back to make sure Barbara was still fighting, he smiled once more. God, he had missed her! Fighting alongside her was unbelievably refreshing.
As she was dealing wit the man underneath her on the ground, another crook had come up behind her and wrapped his arms around her neck in attempts to take her down. Gasping for air, Batgirl’s finer nails dug into the mans arm, and her arm bent, and she thrust an elbow into the man in his stomach. The man hissed in pain by her ear, and Barbara took that moment of hesitation to twist herself in his arms and pin him down.
Gun shots rang out and made her ears ring, but she paid no mind to them; she’d deal with it later, or Jason would before she did; she wouldn’t put it past him if he did. The man below her grabbed at her, pulling her hair harshly and his fingers were working around her throat again. Deciding that if he wanted to play dirty, Batgirl would play dirty too.
