This little monkey is smiling (kinda) because it has just seen its first IRL humans in a long while at the Ashmolean Museum (@ashmoleanmuseum​).

Found among art history buff @artfoli​‘s finds: the earliest-known 3D likeness of a cat in Egyptian art. It’s no Etruscan boar, but woah. We’ll take it.

Some screen grabs from Studio Ghibli’s ‘Arrietty’

This film evokes a similar sort of nostalgic sadness as does My Neighbour Totoro. In terms of beautiful scenery, I don’t think I’ve seen a Studio Ghibli film that quite rivals Arrietty. Not to mention the SOUNDTRACK. I’ve linked my personal favourite from the film, but all of the music carries the same weighted emotional feeling that makes Arrietty such a good film.

concept for a book, movie or TV show:

girl goes to shop with friends

boy at the counter sees her and is all gobsmacked

she is confused

he tells her his mother forced him to go to a fortune teller only a week ago, the fortune teller said she would predict the greatest love he would ever know and he saw her in his head

the girl doesn't believe him and asks for proof

he says the fortune teller gave him a photo and pulls out a picture of the girl given to him by the fortune teller

the girl is shocked because the photo was taken when she was alone with one other person

the show is about who took the photo, how it got to the fortune teller and whether this is actually magic or if someone has a huge plot involving the two of them - suspects crop up all the time and they work together to rule them out

probably along the way they end up actually falling in love so the prophecy ironically comes true

(Ps I described them as a boy and girl to make the description clearer but it would work with a gay couple too)

i hate being seventeen.

Can we get some kind of movement going to stop adults assuming all 17/18 yr olds are massive party people? Like, I went to the dentist the other day and was talking to him about how I’m going to University in September and as I left he was like “remember to brush your teeth after your wild nights partying, even if you don’t, just brush them as soon as possible, even if it’s when you wake up the next morning.” 

I don’t go to parties and feel uncomfortable agreeing with him on this because some part of my British uber-polite DNA makes me incredibly adverse to lying. But if I say “I don’t party” that can provoke further questions like “why not?” and THEN what do I say? I can’t exactly start listing all my issues with social anxiety and my weird phobia of drinking and alcohol to my dentist, I don’t need him knowing about my existential fear and dread of people my age. So then I have to do the awkward laugh-nod, where I’m not agreeing but not disagreeing, simply acknowledging the fact that you spoke which comes across rude.

Just please adults, stop assuming I’m some rave-going alcoholic Uni student so I don’t have to go through this trauma because getting anxiety about telling people I have anxiety is just too ironic.
