An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Day two of Background Boys week, and this managed to cover two prompts - ‘backstage’ and “That’s your cue!”

Background Boys Week guidelines
Here’s a quick and simple guide to participating in Background Boys Week.
1. Follow @backgroundboys and #bgbweek.
2. The event will run from Monday May 27th to Sunday June 2nd. A list of prompts will be posted shortly for each day of the week.
3. Post your work (fic, art, crafts) on the appropriate day, using #bgbweek.
4. This account will reblog all works posted with the bgbweek tag.
That’s it!
You don’t have to post every single day. You can post a mix of fic and art - whatever takes your fancy. You’re free to re-post your own work anywhere you please.
Who are the Background Boys?
For the purposes of this event, we’re referring to Kouda Kouji, Shouji Mezuo, Sato Rikido, Ojiro Mashirao, Tokoyami Fumikage and Aoyama Yuuga. They’re characters who have very little fan content dedicated to them, or who tend to be only in the background of both the series and fan works.
Do I have to include all six of them in my work?
No, you don’t have to include all six. But at least one should be the focal point or the main character (by which I mean, if you described the work to someone else, they would be the first character you named).
Can I include other characters besides The Background Boys? / Can my work ship one of them with a main character?
Sure. But one of our six should be your main character. For example, artwork of Class 1A giving Sato a homemade birthday cake would be fine, as he’d be the focal point of the work. But Sato holding a birthday cake in the background of art showing Midoriya’s birthday, not so much. The aim is to put at least one of the six boys at the centre of the work.
I don’t want to write/draw/make anything, but I still want to help out!
It’s helpful if you reblog either this post or the following prompts post in the run-up to the event in order to get as many people involved as possible. After all, the aim is to celebrate the characters and put them in the spotlight for once.
You can also offer to beta-read someone else’s work if you like - use the #bgbweek tag if you post to offer your services.
If you think I’ve missed anything important (it’s my first time running one of these events!), do let me know and I’ll do my best to fix things.
Keep an eye out for the prompts post, and if anyone feels like making a fancy banner or icon to help with promotion, be my guest!

My Hero Academia ‘Background Boys’ week
Okay, after a little bit of faffing around on my part, I’m gonna go ahead and set the promised Background Boys week for the week starting May 27th. That gives everyone a solid month to work on something.
I’ll put up a prompt list this weekend, with participation guidelines. In the meantime, follow this tumblr for announcements. I’ll also be using this account to reblog all entries in one place during the week itself. I’m still open to suggestions for prompts, and if anyone wants to make a banner with the event name and dates, that’d be awesome (I have neither the art skills nor the software to do it myself).
Please share, reblog, whatever, and help get as many writers and artists involved. Thanks!
