Hey, feminist retelling writers. I have a wonderful subject for your next book that isn't Persephone. Oenone.
She was the first wife of Paris when he was just Alexandros. Her son was killed by him (who was also his son) when he was with Helen.
After her husband was wounded, he went to her to ask her to heal him (She told him to get lost)
She also killed herself when Paris died/:
Athena
The armor Athena's wearing is a Mycenaean one, based in the reconstructions of Dimitrios Katsikis. The cape is Libyan and it appears in the Egyptian Book of Gates from the Tomb of Seti I. In this case, the pattern was altered to resemble olive branches, as the olive tree is one of Athena's symbols.
Her arm tattoo is also Ancient Libyan and from that source, while the face tattoo is a modern femenine Amazigh one. They are a reference to Athena's North African origin, that is one of the explanations given for her archaic epithet, "Athena Tritogeneia".
We can see that epithet in Homer's Iliad, Odyssey and Hymns, and in Hesiod's Theogony. Because its meaning is uncertain, some authors link it to Lake Tritonis, in ancient Libya (maybe Chott el Djerid, modern-day Tunisia), home of the Hesperian Amazons according to Diodorus Siculus.
Her eyes are light, as stated by Homer in the Iliad and by Lucian in the Dialogues of the Gods. Lucian adds that they are scary and match her helmet's color.
The helmet itself is a Mycenaean one based in those of Dimitrios Katsikis, combined with classical representations of Athena Parthenos, like the one from the Parthenon, where she also shows another one of her attributes: the spear.
The triple crest is also mentioned in Homer's Iliad and the triangular front is typical of her sculptures.
Each crest represents one of her attributes: the horse of Athena Hippeia (that crest is inspired by Alan Lee's illustration of Penthesilea), the famous owl from the more famous Athenian drachm.
And the sphinx crest that appears in a lot of sculptural representations of her.

This is so wholesome! And I love that the release of Project Hail Mary and the timing of the Artemis II launch crossed so we can get content like this. It's a great time to be a space fan!
