I had that moral stance too until I was told at work that I’m the slowest one when it comes to assignments and concepts, and that my replies come later etc.

So maybe you’re doing the same to your students and they will end up being the slowest ones in their company tomorrow.

My family and friends also use AI, so fighting against it doesn’t make sense to me anymore.

If it doesn’t make sense to you, don’t do it. I teach elementary school (what would be considered middle school grades in the US). My job is to support their growth and development. They aren’t adults going into corporate jobs, they’re kids learning the foundations of literacy and math. Their brains are still developing and they need to learn how to do these concepts on their own and need to get out of/avoid falling into the habit of learned helplessness.

one of my coworkers (horrible teacher, deadbeat) said to my class today that he could “spend 25 minutes planning an activity but ai can do in 2 seconds so why would he” which is contrary to the message I have been trying to instil for 8 months (working hard and doing things on your own is rewarding and good for you and worthy of your time)

anyway they told me about it bc they knew I would be mad and they hate him and they said all of his assignments are shit (paraphrasing) and they can tell they were made by ai in 2 seconds #hopecore
