Built in the 18th century, this is one of the oldest buildings in Hattfjelldal municipality in Norland, Norway.

There are loads of these going around at the moment but it’s great to see how original some people can be with the few seconds they have. I recommend Zoe Bell’s as another super original one.

Cinnamon & Oat Pancakes
These are absolutely lovely little breakfast pancakes - you don’t taste the oats very much, but they’re much more filling than regular pancakes. They were a compromise this weekend, as I fancied pancakes and my boyfriend wanted porridge, et voila, a porridge pancake. Cinnamon & oat sounds better. This is my adapted version of Martha Stewart’s recipe. If you don’t have baking cups, get some, they’re brilliant!
Put 1 cup of plain flour, ½ a cup of rolled oats, 1/8 cup demerara sugar, ½ tablespoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt & ½ teaspoon cinnamon into a food processor, and process until the oats are broken up. Whisk 1 and ½ cups of milk with 1 egg and 1/8 cup vegetable oil, then stir in the flour-oat mixture and another ½ cup of rolled oats. If the mixture looks too thick, add more milk. Drop heaped tablespoons onto a hot slightly oiled pan, and cook for a couple of minutes on each side. You’ll know when to flip them, as the top looks set instead of runny. Add a little more oil to the pan if you need it. These keep warm nicely in between two plates in the oven while you get on with making the rest. Serve with golden syrup, blueberries and bananas - perfect for a lazy weekend breakfast.

Kyoto kimono Yuzen x Minami Hamabe furisode collection, loosely inspired by the trademark patterns and hairstyles of past century Japanese eras.
“Meiji” outfit features a (kinda) nihongami traditional hairstyle, paired with a rich purple very late-Meiji era kimono with big, mature patterns:
“Taisho” outfit takes from taisho-romance look, with mimikakushi (fingerwave covering the ears) hairstyle, and bold and/or geometrical patterned kimono paired with Western influences such as lacy accessories:
“Showa” outfit features the very retro “Seiko-chan” haircut (so 80′s!). Bright red color was everywhere, and very traditional patterns (like cranes for example) were then hightly fashionable:
“Heisei” saw the rise of gyaru (”girl”) culture, stressing individuality. Patterns trends from Showa were still there, but now enhanced by big puffy “morigami” hairdo, and more eccentric/striking accessories:
“Reiwa” chosen outfit shows the current love for big hair accessories paired with simple natural hairstyles. The patterns are smaller and scattered, with an apparent simplicity (even if furisode fashion is never simple):
(I personally don’t feel this furisode truly shows the most current trends but well, we’ll see what style survives until the end of the decade ^^)
This photoshoot only glosses over last century Japanese beauty trends. If you wanna learn more, you can have a look at “100 Years of Beauty: Japan” research Behind the Looks video:
