But no, he was all hardness, all pain and all hurt. “We mean more than you realise.” Fliss hissed, Freyja echoing in her voice as she continued. “I won’t give in the same way you’re doing. I am no coward. I am no heartless creature that leaves his fellows to die!”

His eyes squinted together at her harsh words. She spoke truth, and he knew it for he spoke them every day himself for a long while. Normally the words would have infuriated him, or Ares, but neither raised their voice. "I thought that too once."

The anger that dashed through her as he moved away made her furrow her brow, her hand clenching into a fist as she took a step back. Why would he do this now .. “We’re part of this war you know .. we can’ just get up and leave when people we love are falling around us!” Her voice came out a lost harsher, colder than intended but she couldn’t keep back the hurt that stuck in her throat. “I’m a nurse, a care giver, it’s what I do and I can’t leave my charges. And in case you forgot, I have this whole other entity that lives in me that’s tied to this place!”

"Don't make promises you cannot keep." He spoke, shrugging his hands in his pockets. "You should get Felix and go to your parents or wherever. Just out of Vancouver."
