Recap: Baekhyun's Achievements With His Japanese Debut Mini Album
Baekhyun's Japanese album made history as the most successful debut mini album of the last few years. Let's take a look at some of his biggest achievements.
iTunes:
The album topped the iTunes charts in 22 countries. It is the Japanese album with the most No. 1 on iTunes among Korean solo artists as well as artists from SM Entertainment.
The album also topped the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart for two consecutive days and became the first Japanese album by a Korean solo artist to achieve this milestone.
Baekhyun is now the second Korean artist in history to top the worldwide chart and the first artist from SM Entertainment.
Sales:
The album became the best-selling debut album by a male solo artist from SM Entertainment on Billboard Japan. It recorded the highest first day and week sales for a Japanese debut mini album by a Korean solo artist on Billboard Japan. On Oricon, it achieved the highest first day among debut mini albums by Korean solo artists.
Certification:
The album was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan for selling 100,000 units. Baekhyun became the third Korean solo artist to receive a RIAJ certification with a Japanese debut album. Additionally, he joined BoA as the only solo artists from SM Entertainment to receive such a certification.
With this certification, Baekhyun became the first Korean solo artist to receive album certifications in South Korea, China and Japan.
Spotify:
Baekhyunâs single âGet You Aloneâ debuted on the Spotify Japan Viral 50 chart. The song charted for three weeks and became the highest the highest and longest charting Japanese song (1) of the year, (2) by a Korean solo artist in history and (3) by an artist from SM Entertainment ever.
Baekhyun Makes History With His Japanese Debut Mini Album
Baekhyun becomes the first Korean solo artist to receive album certifications in South Korea, China and Japan.
On February 10th, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) shared their monthly list of artists that earned a gold certification. Among these artists was Baekhyun, who received a gold certification for his Japanese debut mini album. Artists must record at least 100,000 units in sales in order to receive a RIAJ gold certification.
Additionally, Baekhyun joined BoA as the only solo artists from SM Entertainment to be certified by the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Baekhyun is now the third Korean solo artist to receive a RIAJ certification with a Japanese debut album.
Baekhyun Continues To Set Records With âGet You Aloneâ
On January 25th, Baekhyunâs single âGet You Aloneâ from his first Japanese mini album debuted on the Spotify Japan Viral 50 chart. Since then it continues to set new records.
Not only, is it the highest and longest charting Japanese song by an artist from SM Entertainment, it is also the first Japanese song by an artist from the label to debut on the chart ever. As of February 7th, the song has spent two weeks on the chart.
Forbes Names Baekhyun One Of The K-Pop Solo Stars Who Could Break In America In 2021
In a newly released article, Hugh McIntyre from Forbes names Baekhyun as the most productive musician in the K-pop industry. He explains, that "at the rate he's doling out new music, Baekhyun will absolutely make it to at least a handful of Billboard charts in 2021".
