Final Post
Before starting Communication design studies I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, I was hoping to find a new understanding of communication design and hopefully learn some new design strategies. I think I did achieve these things which were unexpected as they were very broad, I learnt about different times and how design has evolved as well as new design strategies like using my environment as well as making simple publications like zines.
Some of the things I learnt and that really stuck with me were the design movements Pop-art, Bauhaus and Modernism. Some of the skills I unlocked and will definitely use in the future are Prototyping, Layout and Zine-making which were mostly through my ‘Ask me Anything’ project making zines.mSome of the new concepts and ideas I discovered were Material literacy especially through project 1, Typographic principles and Publication design. I found all of these things really interesting and helpful and will definitely impact my designs in the future.
I was definitely inspired by both Andy and Karen throughout the class, the things they have done in their lives is amazing and they design work is great :) I also found inspiration from the Bauhaus movement and I thought they were a real game changer when it came to design. I think if I had to choose 1 activity that really inspired me was looking for objects in buildings around RMIT and was just a unique way of exploring our environment. I think if I'm going to explore thing else in this course it would be zine creation as I think it is a really effective way of displaying a lot of information together in a fun and unique form.
Thanks to everyone in the class for a great time :)
