“You got me there. Caught me red handed. Caught me right in my lie.” Frankie laughed, moving her attention from the twins back over to the girl in front of her. They seemed pretty occupied with the supplied crayon and coloring sheet that she felt it was okay to tear her gaze from them for a moment. At the mention of studying, Francesca nodded and smiled softly, gripping at Bailey’s hands. “I hope you know that I’m not only here when it’s all three of you. I will gladly take both of them off of your hands, Bailey. If that means taking them out, taking them to my place, or even just taking them to another room so you can have a fairly quiet afternoon to study. I’m perfectly fine with it. You deserve to have as equal education as everyone else. This is not all on you. Not at anymore.” She’d never been so serious about something before. Even if they hadn’t gotten this close, and only a friendship had sprouted between the two. She was sure this offer would come out eventually. Being a single mother is hard, but having two children to look after on your own had to be hell. Especially at this age when everything makes mom look like the bad guy. “You’re right about that. Who says children are just great for families? I say only have children to save up on decorating. They’re amazing interior designers. Just ask the white walls with crayon going 30 inches up. Or the food stained couches. They know everything. Soon enough, these items will be huge.”
Bailey felt another wave of emotion as Francesca spoke. She had never met someone who was so selfless before, and she couldn’t believe she was lucky enough to have her in their lives. She didn’t quite know how to word what she was feeling right now, so she hoped that Frankie understood from the small thank you that she murmured, accompanied by a hand squeeze. Her heart felt so ridiculously full right now, she was concerned it was going to burst right out of her chest. Laughing, Bailey nodded. “Honestly, I should probably advertise them for decorating services, I could probably make a ton of money off letting them run wild with some sharpies.” She tilted her head slightly, as if she was genuinely thinking about the possibilities.
