Hero Fiennes-Tiffin as Sherlock Holmes & Dónal Finn as James Moriarty
YOUNG SHERLOCK (2026) S01E01
What did you think of Hero Fiennes Tiffin's go as Sherlock in Young Sherlock?
I was prepared to be underwhelmed based on the trailers but when I watched the show, by the end, I was so fond of him !!! The scene when he's at the table with everyone and thinks Mycroft betrayed him and their mother - his face is sooooo heartbreaking I had a damn lump in my throat !!! I think he did a really great job of having all of Sherlock's raw talents but almost none of the refinement and command of those talents (he's still cooking let him cook!!!). Same with his emotionality, which all felt very in line with how Sherlock is when he's older (i.e his specific sense of justice, empathy/sympathy for ppl others tend to discard, anger at apathy, frustration at the unobservedness of others, etc) but because he's younger hft played these more tenderly than a more grown up version would. He also had great chemistry with everyone in the cast (especially Donal but that's obvious), which is to say the cast generally had great chemistry, and also yk his uncle was playing his dad so there's that caveat. but still, no mean feat to play a version of Sherlock within a dynamic never really seen before (the bestfrienememies of it all) and pull it off so memorably. The scenes where he was helping his mum escape the asylum while acting like everything is fine so not to scare her were sooo good. I really really really REALLY hope we get another season cos I have got to see him and Donal Finn execute the on screen bestfrienememies break up of the decade, or I might just walk into the ocean and become an amoeba ❤️
Thoughts while watching the 1995 BBC Pride and Prejudice for the first time.
1. The intro - very Barbie-coded. I like it.
2. Two men on horseback. Oh, I wonder who they could be.😏 And of course they only show one man's face properly. First mention of Pemberley. Colin Firth's voice is just *chef's kiss*.
3. Elizabeth!!! Hello! She looks just lovely. She skips back home! 🥹
4. Cute moment between Mr. Bennet and Elizabeth🥹father-daughter solidarity
5. Oh Jane! She does look pretty put-together. And their "Coming mama" in unison.
6. "Netherfield park has been let at last!"😂 And the way they all look so innocent when she says she hopes that one of them will marry him. I love Mr. and Mrs. Bennet.
7. "You don't know what I suffer." Is that like a universal rite of passage after becoming a mom? To say this every now and then?
8. Jane Bennet, your hair!!!
9. "One of us at least will have to marry very well."
10. Oh the good nights to everyone🥹
11. Mrs. Bennet is already on my nerves.🫠
12. Oh hello Mr. Darcy😶🌫️
13. Oh he looks so awkward and uncomfortable😂precious
14. Not Mrs. Bennet blushing like a girl when Mr. Bingley comes over. Compose yourself, woman! And Mr. Darcy why are you just standing there awkwardly behind Bingley😭😭
15. "And you, sir? Are you fond of dancing too?" And I swear, in that moment, Colin Firth did his best rendition of this emoji😳 in real time
16. He smiled! Mr. Darcy smiled🥹and it was everything precious in the world. Not him looking over and finding all the women gathered around gossipping about him.
17. My gosh the sideburns are strong tonight🫡
18. Mr. Darcy stop prowling around like a wildcat and do something😭
19. "I have no interest in women who have been slighted by other men." Then why do your eyes follow her as she walks past you?! 😭
20. Okay but why Mr. Darcy do the dewey eyed stare at Mr. Bingley on several occasions😭 do I sense a ship happening?
21. Not Elizabeth doing her best Darcy impression and winning😂🩷
22. Not Mr. Darcy staring at Elizabeth the whole time in the next gathering 😭 Sir, what ARE you doing?
23. Oh. Mr. Darcy is SMITTEN 😭😭
24. Okay, but Mary is underrated, in my opinion.
24. "Not at all they were brightened by the exercise." 👁👁
25. Mr. Bingley was honestly made for Jane. He really cares about her.🥹 Peak golden-retriever energy
26. Darcy taking every chance to acknowledge Elizabeth is sending me😭😭
27. Okay but Darcy standing there calmly accepting all that abuse from Mrs. Bennet is just🥹
28. Why are we watching Mr. Darcy having a bath😭😭 so early in the series too
29. Not Miss Bingley diffusing the tension between Darcy and Elizabeth before they attack each other, with force or with love, I couldn't tell😭
30. Oh but Jane and Elizabeth look so cute in their bonnets🥹🩷
31. End credits
Overall, it was very faithful to the book. The characters were well-played, and the casting was just perfect. And I daresay, I might need more than 6 hours of this in my life🥹🩷.
Y'all ever think about how Dean probably has thoughts about handcuffing himself to Cas so he doesn't run away anymore
Like, imagine a fix it fic, where instead of Dean losing to a rebar, he survives and Sam calls upon Jack to save his brother
Only, instead of Jack, Cas appears and heals Dean before he gets to critical condition
Before Cas can even pull his hand away, a cuff wraps around his wrist
"What? Dean-" Cas looks down and sees the other end of the cuff is already connected to Dean's wrist
"Gotcha"
"What do you mean 'gotcha'?! You planned this?!" Sam panics, having basically gone through the stages of grief while Dean was dying in his arms. Ready to sock his brother on the face
"Sorry Sammy, had to test a theory and turns out I'd be one hell of a Sherlock"
"Dean, why did you chain is together?" Cas asks, breaking through the stare down the brothers were having
Dean merely gives Cas a sunny disposition, like the insanity of the situation has passed over him and he finally got what he wanted
"cause you let me go last time. And I ain't letting it happen again"
Oh the insanity of a man who's lost too much
Shhh... this is how it happened🥹
Sebastian Stan, during an interview, being asked about Bucky's arm in the dishwasher: Well... one has to.. make sure things get... eventually.. clean
Me: Gosh, where have I heard that before?
Bucky, in the Thunderbolts as Congressman Barnes, when asked about Val: These rumours are... very concerning and... worrying.. and... we are working on verifying these... very conerning and... worrying issues.
Oh Sebastian...
Can we talk about John secretly nodding to Sherlock in S1E3 when they meet Moriarty at the swimming pool before Sherlock points the gun at the detonating material? Like, they've known each other for maybe a few months, and they already silently agree to die together for a greater good.
im not the best artist but i drew my icon, its sherlock
john looking into his empty little fridge with two beer cans in the blind baker and mycroft looking into his entirely barren fridge in the that weird basement kitchen of his during the six thatchers, bbc sherlock is story about sad british men and their fridges actually
OOC: Looking to be active on here again. Like if you'd like to chat about writing something. ❤️
Just rewatched season 1 of BBC Sherlock and noticed a few things:
1. When Sherlock sends John those texts in the middle of his meeting with Mycroft, he's just being a li'l baby who's suffering from separation anxiety??? Like, he met John a few hours ago but doesn't want him to be away for so long.
2. The table they sit, at Angelo's, was reserved??? Never noticed it before. He called ahead and reserved a table at a restaurant; chased down a cab through streets and more just to prove a point to John??? The same point Mycroft proved by abducting him? They're all just a bunch of drama queens. It's awesome.
3. Also, why is Sherlock trying so hard to impress John??? It's so adorable! From trying to clean up his "mess" in the flat (which he probably wouldn't have done for anyone else?) to chasing cabs down streets, having extreme fear when Lestrade's having his drugs bust moment. Even that little stunt with Angelo bringing the walking stick to them.
4. Also, love that full circle moment with John calling Sherlock an idiot at the end and Sherlock responding with "Dinner?" Like, they're just two idiots having dinner. That's who they are.
When I say 'I love Sherlock Holmes' this is what I mean
Love that the concept of The Great Mouse Detective is not "what if Sherlock Holmes was a mouse" but "what if there was a mouse living underneath Sherlock Holmes' house whose life was running in exact parallel with his"
