“Ew I almost stepped in dog shit.”
bakura-the-changed-spirit:
And that was exactly what his incoherent babbling was doing. He couldn’t help it, the child was a destroyer of houses. But how could he be strict with her? She was the light of his life (not like that tho), his only blood on this world. She was to be cherished, and spoiled, because she was technically the father of a twice-dethroned king.
Layla, on the other hand, took one look at her father’s face, and frowned deeply. Her own tears began to fall, and she wrapped her arms around her father’s head, papping his hair wings in comfort. “I’m s-sorry daddy, I’ll c-c-clean up, I promise. Then you w–won’t have to ever again!”
He took the tiny demon child from Bakura’s arms. “Hey now, no tears. You’re sorry, that’s the important part, the second important part is we’re gonna fix it okay? Your daddy can go sit and relax while you and I clean up in here. When we’re done we’ll even make some cookies for a job well done.” He smiled at her, wiping the tears from her face. “Just don’t try to clean without an adult nearby next time, okay?”
He stood up, and kissed the top of her head. “It’s alright kitten, listen to Ryou. He knows what he is doing.”
“Okay. Let’s clean! Make it shiny~” Layla wrapped her arms around Ryou’s neck, and hugged him. Not-mama was nice, and cuddly! She loved cuddles!
Kura then slip-n-slid his way to the fridge, and found his beverage of choice. Finally, he could have his beer! He looked up from working the cap off, and grinned. “You want me to help? I’ve had practice cleaning up these messes before, you know.” For a moment his heart thudded against his chest, the sight of them together bringing back memories of before, of his precious one. He brushed it aside. He wasn’t going down that road.
Layla looked at Ryou, mirroring her father’s grin. “Yep, he makes the magick thingies clean it!”
*sneaks into the house, looking for the little one, all ninja like and totally invisible*
It’s really hard to sneak around the house of a man who doesn’t like to sleep.
“Do you mind?”
bakura-the-changed-spirit:
The fuck?
He looked around, finding himself in the middle of one of Domino’s major highways. “How the hell did I end up here?!”
BEEEEP!
He looked to the side, only to see a milk truck barreling towards him. Thinking quick, he used the shadows to launch himself up onto the top of the truck, the driver inside confused but just happy he didn’t commit vehicular manslaughter. He needed his job.
Kura sat on the top of the truck crossed legged, hair billowing out around his face in the breeze. He knew that energy, but it was impossible for it to even be anymore. Probably just a fluke. He hoped.
But this was Domino. Weird shit went down here on the regular. Could that brat possibly be….
“Naaah, that’s bullshit. Zorc’s gone for good. Besides, who would sleep with him anyways?” He looked down at his improvised perch. Milk… kids like milk. Especially chocolate milk…
He had a plan.
Ryou sighed, taking a good while to put Kyden back to sleep and checking on little Ryou… naturally the commotion hadn’t woken him, that boy was an enigma. Eating weird things, sleeping through everything… at least he’d be safe as long as his little sister didn’t like the intruder.
Kyden was as stubborn as her father and willful as Ryou, bending to no one once her mind was set. Ryou sat back at his computer and continued playing his game.
He had to be careful this time. Obviously, the front door wasn’t an option. And with a bag of stolen aquired chocolate milk and his irresistable charm, he couldn’t lose.
He looked through the front window, spying Ryou at his computer. Good, he was occupied.
Quiet as a mouse, he slipped around the house, stealing peaks inside windows, until he found what looked like a kid’s room. Slipping a slim jim (a thin flat rod used by locksmiths to unlock car doors) out of his pants, he began working on the window, managing to reach the lock with a little persuasion from the shadows, and flicking it open.
He slid the window up slowly, praying that it didn’t squeak. He should have been praying he had the right room...
((and now for more rick an morty. seriously, i can’t get enough of it))
"Incrimination? Why, Kura. You act as though you think I am the sort to hand you over to human law enforcement at the tiniest twitch of a wing. Surely you know me better than all that."
“Ah, but loose lips and all that. I have my secrets. Besides, I’m too hot for jail, starry one. Surely you’d rather keep me all for yourself~”
Reblog if you don’t mind Slice-of-Life threads that don’t necessarily go anywhere.
✕ there is so much development to be made from people just… being together. there’s no need for a whole huge big plot for muses to make memories. just conversation and doing mundane things together is enough sometimes.
bakura-the-changed-spirit:
He froze momentarily. “The little one… his precious one had taken him in, to mother… oh shit and he was dead and very pissed at him…”
He had to play this cool. Buy some time, yeah. Things were in the works.
“Weelll, little one has the ring, I believe.”
“Well I wouldn’t want you to take the ring from my child self… that might not over very really- I was very attached to it as a kid. Anyways, it’s just weird, I can’t remember what happened to my ring- ya’know?” Hmm really weird, maybe he’s not suppose to nice he died, oh well.
“So yea about my child self- I’m just worried you see… I personally can’t interfere with his life- so I don’t know what point he’s at…. I guess it doesn’t matter. but make sure you visit him too- just because you met with me doesn’t mean you met up with him after all.”
Ryou’s ring... he couldn’t remember either. Had he ever seen him with it? Or did he take a baseball bat to the head too many times to remember?
But if he couldn’t remember, perhaps there was a chance that his Bakura somehow had seized it. It would make sense, but then again he wouldn’t know.
Wait, why did he want it? “Wait, why do you want it? Not to be nosy or anything, ha ha, but you wouldn’t want to try and use it to get things... settled in the kingdom, would you?”
*sneaks into the house, looking for the little one, all ninja like and totally invisible*
It’s really hard to sneak around the house of a man who doesn’t like to sleep.
“Do you mind?”
bakura-the-changed-spirit:
“I..I swear…. are you even listening to me?!”
He waved his arms wildly. “Hell king! Want the little one! Will hurt if not returned! All will be damned!”
Ryou snorted. “Considering I’m on pretty friendly terms with the god of darkness…” he gestured at the child at his ankles. “I think I’ll be fine. Besides, last I checked, the king of hell doesn’t need a ten year old. Buzz off.”
“̙̤͔͖͝ͅM̮͍̥̟̩̰͠O͇͕O̜̜̥͔O̵O̼̣͇̞͓̲͇O̹̙̙Ò̞̱MM̭͇Ỳ̝̥̩͙̯͇̞Y̦̩̭Y̺͓͜Y̴̥̻̝̖̞̜͖Y͕̫̬̝ͅ!̸͔͇̯"̹̕ͅ
He sighed. “Fine, Kyden. If you really want to show off so bad.”
Everything in the living room began to stir and float up, whipping about as the shadows slowly encroached on all of them. The daughter of Zorc Necrophades didn’t fuck around, not even at such a young age. The shadows encompassed Bakura, constricting tightly and transporting him far outside the house. Even she didn’t know where she’d put him.
The fuck?
He looked around, finding himself in the middle of one of Domino’s major highways. “How the hell did I end up here?!”

“Ew I almost stepped in dog shit.”
bakura-the-changed-spirit:
Layla gazed up at Ryou, and froze. Could it be? Was it really?….
Wrenching herself out of Kura’s arms, she dove at Ryou, wrapping herself around his legs in a tight embrace, her little body literally vibrating with excitement.
“MAMA, YOU CAME BACK! YOU GOT OUT THE BOX AND CAME BACK! I KNEW YOU WOULD!”
Kura, who had turned around to view the spectacle, cringed. After a moment, he gently removed her from his legs. “No kitten, that’s not mama. I’m sorry baby, but that’s another Ryou. He only looks like mama.”
Her head hung at his words, all the energy seeming to drain from her in an instant. “Oh… okay.”
“Now answer his question. Are you supposed to go into the cleaning cabinet?”
“….no.”
It definitely caught him off guard but considering he already knew based on a short conversation that her other parent was likely his alternate… he didn’t react nearly as strongly as he should have.
He crouched down so he was at her level. “Now… I understand you were trying to help… but does this look like when your Mom used to clean, or does it look like a mess?” Ryou avoided scolding tones this time, now that she understood what she did was wrong, he needed to make sure she understood how to do things correctly.
The tiny one sighed, toeing at the floor. “…nooooo….” Then she looked up with him, velvety brown eyes wide, and hopeful. Maybe if she explained herself, she wouldn’t be in trouble! “But daddy sucks super hard at the chores because he has no motiv…motiv… what’s the word I’m saying, daddy?”
“… motivation…oh gods no motivation…” He was back to sobbing. It was in the oven too. He had just got that stove, too.”
He smiled a little and ruffled her hair. “Yeah your dad’s a bit of a lazy bones isn’t he? Tell you what. Help me clean this mess up and I’ll make you cookies. Does that sound good?”
He tossed a glare up at Bakura. His sobbing wasn’t going to help the situation. He’d just make the poor girl feel ten times worse than she did.

Star punched him. It was a very human action, clearly something he was neither used to doing nor built for. His delicate hand hit with the force of a sock-filled wet paper bag.
Kura spun around, ready to lecture the moth that had flew into him, and came face-to-face with someone he had missed terribly.
“Starry one… you have found me.”
bakura-the-changed-spirit:
starbrightbakura:
He nodded in agreement. “Yeah, I can be a bit… grating, I suppose. And yes, I still have Layla. She is my sweet little minion who can do no wrong.”
Sweet, precious baby. So pure, so well behaved.
“Oh dear heavenly ra above take those hands of Midas and touch meeee~”
Hey, if starry one was offering, he’d take it. He might be in a slump, but gods above he wanted to know how freaky he could get! No shame.
“And where is she now?” He hadn’t counted on having to wrangle another child. Kura was meant to be all his. This would not do at all, it seemed he had another disappearance to plan.
A warning smack on the back of the head was his reward for his outburst, despite it being entirely expected. “Shameful.” Bakura judged him, voice smooth caramel with just a hint of triumph. Of course the demon still desired him, he was beautiful. He was magnificent. It pleased him to know he still held this powerful being in his sway. “I do hope in your time away you have not forgotten what is and is not allowed, my dear Kura. Your wings are the only part of you to receive preening from me.”
“Owww, sheesh. Can’t blame a guy for trying.” He rubbed the sting away, laughing all the while. “Layla is away at school. For reasons. You know me, not exactly father of the year, amiright?” He laughed again, puffing his feathers up so Star could get in deeper.”
This is what he needed. Someone to ground him, while sending his spirit soaring. He had often wondered about the starry one, and his whole being in general. Where was his companions? Were there more like him, or was he an exception?
“Hey, starry one, where you come from... did you have companions like we all do here? Like me, and my Ryou... or Ryous, make that plural.”
"I-I don't know where I am... where's my brother? Where's... where's Dad? I... where's Erin? I'm scared."
Kura froze, ice water running down his spine.
No… It couldn’t be…
“… precious one?”
bakura-the-changed-spirit:
Layla took her place at the table, grabbing her spoon and immediately began chowing down.
Kura frowned, and watched from the island. “Layla, are they feeding you?”
“Mmm-hmm.”
“Then why are you inhaling your cereal?”
She paused, swallowing her mouthful. “I dunno, just every time I play with the dark man, I get really hungry afterwards.”
He growled to himself. Not good. “Where is my ring, kitten? You will not be playing with the dark man anymore this weekend.
Or ever again, if he had anything to do with it. And he had one pissed off ghost mama to motivate him.
Ryou couldn’t hold it anymore, and without intending to, made himself visible again. It was rather disturbing that she was so attached to that ring… Had Ryou been alive he probably could have convinced her to leave it be. He managed to keep Erin away from the damn thing…
Kura gaped up at him, eyes wide. Oh fucking hell, what was he doing?!
Layla noticed him staring, and looked up as well, spotting her mother standing there, observing.
A pause.
“MAMA!”
Kura groaned. How would he explain this this time?
Ryou jumped. Oh no. He looked down at his body to see he was visible again.
“A-ah… hello sweetheart.” He laughed nervously, defeated.
Layla launched herself out of her chair, intending to hug her long missing mother, only to fly right though him. She stumbled, and hit the floor butt first, blinking up at him in surprise.
Kura was just there, watching. What a life! “Um, Precious one? Were you not supposed to stay hidden? You know, in the bedroom?”
((when i said i would be back, i didn’t know it would be the next frickin’ day -_-
anyway, im doing responses, then dippin’ out again for a bit. i’m rewatching all of rick and morty. so ill watch a show, then do responses, and so on))
((y’all i’ll be on in a couple hours. im cooking rn, and i need to go watch the season finale of rick and morty))

Kura groaned. How would he explain this this time?
"Are you a demon too?" Ryou asked, his tail twitching side to side, revealing his curiosity. (demonryou)
“I am.”
A demon Ryou. Interesting. Perhaps this Ryou would have mercy and not lecture him :D
“Really? I hadn’t met any other demons besides me yet,” Ryou said, a grin spreading over his face, revealing sharp white teeth. He took a chance to get closer, observing the other carefully. “Do you go by Bakura? You look like him.” Ryou had discovered that many people from different realms looked like this, and most of them went by that name. It wasn’t odd to him, anymore.
“Ah, my dear, I am more than just a demon, I am the former King of Hell itself.” He returned the smile with one of his own, fangs glinting. “I go by Kura... it helps me to stay separate from all the others.” He gazed over this Ryou, interest piqued.
