Damn, yeah, should've seen that one coming. Talon was likely already reaching the point of tolerance for being handled that day too. Her arm is easily weighed down and there is not much protecting her from the claws now holding her with a vice grip. The bird shifts, eyeing her while she moves her arm to an ideal position. [All right. I'll just-] right as she reaches for the little string that loosely attached the fake crest, a large wing gives her a warning slap to the face. That wouldn't be an issue if this was the average pet bird, a wing-smack from Talon was enough to knock her glasses askew. Definitely not going to make it easy. the string is definitely buried under all those feathers. Audrey is as careful as she could be, ignoring pin-prick wounds from claws. The processes of slowly and carefully searching for the little knot tying to ends of a string together is accompanied by silent wincing. Talon certainly making his annoyance known with pecks, wing-smacks, and tensing grips with long-ass claws. [Tal- please, I thought we we're cooler than this... Just wait and... done] The false crest falls away to the floor, she can pick that up when not trying to appease an irritated bird and falconer.
Mordecai watched the whole endeavour with a bitten tongue, trying his best not to laugh his ass off. If Akachi were here, she would probably smack him upside the head for finding Audrey's pain amusing. As long as she didn't snitch on him, he could keep his scalp unbruised.
"Now that that shit's out of the way..." He offered his arm and Talon happily hopped back on, ruffling himself out now that his feathers were free. "Were you just bored outta your mind? Cuz I got shit I can give you t'do so that Talon ain't gotta suffer like this."

"Yeah, and how many of 'em are dead bones under that sand or in his belly?" Mordecai rolled his eyes beneath his goggles and shoved her away from the sandpit by the shoulder. "Ain't just your ma, neither. This shithole'd be a lot less fun without you around."
“Okay, okay—“ Sammy’s pouting softened slightly, finally rethinking her actions as he moved her away from certain death.
“—I guess it ain’t worth it- I only wanted to do it cause Flyboy said I was too scared to, an I wanted to prove he was full’a shit."
"Flyboy!? Flyboy?! Th'guy who thinks jumpin' out of a movin' Buzzard t'feed Threshers h as great ideas? Dios mio..." Mordecai rubbed his temples, trying his best to not lose his cool. He had to remind himself that when he was that age, he did a lot of dumb shit too.
"Y'wanna prove t'him you ain't shit? Terramorphous ain't far from here." He tapped the side of his head. "I can even show ya a spot where he can't hit ya. You game?" At least then, he could keep an eye on her.
