Given: Flawed love, human love

Given is not just a love story, it’s a story about love. As pretentious as that sounds. It’s one of the few stories that explores not only the act of falling in love, but also previous failed relationships of the characters, and how painful it can be to fall out of love. 

It’s a story that emphasizes how flawed love can be, and how flawed both parites can be even when they are in love. Love is not something that glosses over flaws, or even fixes people, but it can break them. It’s such a complex and human story that it’s difficult to see the fandom sometimes reducing these characters to black and white, and try to find someone to blame for the relationship going wrong. With that, Underneath the cut an exploration of Akihiko and Ugetsu’s relatoionship. A bad relationship for both of them, but one where neither of them is the bad guy.
