tldr someone threatened to doxx mod A around when we stopped posting and it was a credible enough?? Threat that we both decided to take a step back from social media all together.

To be clear we 0% think ot was anyone in the BJD community who made the threat/had the doxx info but that's all we really feel comfortable saying on the matter lol

Mod A is entirely off the blog now even as a co-owner so /shrugs

TIL that flower boxes (the type you get with 1800 flowers deliveries) make great replacement doll boxes! My largest 75cm boy fits in this box with room to spare and it even came with an insert to keep him in place! Well it was for keeping flowers in place but it works the same. If you ever need a replacement if a seller won't sent the doll's original box or if the original gets damaged, look up the size you need in flower boxes! Or you could always order some flowers for your self or a loved one from 1800 and keep the box

So if you want a 13th Anniversary Lance doll on crobido//s, with the special one off face ups, don’t hold your breath. They aren’t ever actually for sale. Some of them are only put up for a little while and if you order one; your money will be immediately refunded for bogus reasons. I’m guessing they are sold to friends of the company, but the general public cannot purchase them. It’s just part of a way to promote their website sales. Do not try to buy from this company unless you want to be ripped off/tricked.

recently I got a custom minifigure of my dnd character and now I think I understand why people outside the bjd hobby think this can be a waste of money! Dont get me wrong I love my new mini, but it was nearly $80 for something under 1 inch tall... now I sorta want to make him into a big bjd because I need something bigger to get my hands around!

I recently came across a person with dolls I absolutely love to the point that I’m admittedly a bit jealous.

I’d very much like to keep up with them and eventually work up the nerve to tell them how much I adore their faceups/style (I’m hopelessly shy)

the issue is that they follow several artists of loli content.

As much as I love their dolls, I’d rather not interact with someone who is into that kind of thing.

I’m just not one of those people who can separate content from creator.

There’s a seamstress whose stuff I really like,but I realized that they have me blocked on Insta and I have no clue why-I’ve never had any negative (or any) interactions with this person before.

I'm glad C*lur is moving towards doing stuff for her, it's disgusting how vicious everyone was to her. Yes she made mistakes, people do that. Everyone seemed to forget she was a person and was really just one person doing this, artist dolls aren't the same as larger companies (I know ringdoll and fairyland aren't giant corps but they're still larger than one artist making dolls in their home)

I hope this also means people will stop calling every new artist doll a C*lur ripoffs just because it has hips

Hot glue for the goop, anon. You can use msc and pastels over it to color it. I wouldn't use puffy paint, personally. I've ruined my clothes with the stuff; I don't wanna know how it'd affect resin.

SobaDolls

so, for those of you, like me, that don't love the fact that resin yellows or the fact that vinyl stains and can degrade, I have a recommendation. The single-artist company SobaDolls makes MSD BJDs from 'Flumo', a cold-slip casting material which, like resin, kinda seems like a plastic/porcelain hybrid. It doesn't yellow like resin, though, and it looks like porcelain, but is more sturdy and Flumo dolls can be faced-up/painted post-curing like resin dolls can. It's called cold-slip porcelain, and like resin is cast and cured, not kiln fired. it picks up details from molds well like resin does too.

SobaDolls offers dolls in both black and white skintones, too, so there's some diversity. Hopefully, even more tones will become available in the future. She's currently only got one mold, but the body is INCREDIBLE and the face mold (called Ruri) is cute too, though I hope she makes more faces soon. It's also, and this is the best part, CHEAP!!! SobaDolls charged around 250 USD for an MSD-sized doll that was fully blushed, came with a handmade wig, 2 pairs of eyes, and a stunning face-up. Her Ruri fullset was around 350 USD, and came with handmade shoes, eyes, wig, sweater. She makes dolls for custom orders too. I'm set to order 3 dolls from her and I am THRILLED.

I really really want a p*dgin doll, and after looking at DOA’s callout/ban explanation, I don’t see what their problem with p*dgin is. there are only so many ways to engineer effective joints, and fairyland has no monopoly on complex joint designs. Kadira by Tonner has similar knees, Those elboy joints are, hate to say it, common. And the double-socket hips? even playline dolls like Rainbow High use that feature now. The same style of joints as Fairyland’s are found on many, many dolls. P*dgin was not unique with using them, and for all I know, Fairyland didn’t even initially come up with these joint designs. JDM also provided proof of his hand carving stage, proving he did not recast anything. He, and this is the most important thing, changed the design of most of his joints before the doll went into production. The doll is not a recast, he is not a bad person, and some people really need to chill and quit demonizing him.

To anyone who (like me) loves Natalia Loseva dolls but doesn’t have $1500+ dollars to blow on a blank doll without layaway, may I recommend Spirit Imprint’s Elf Girl doll. She’s 1 cm shorter than NL’s Zaya, and some of her face sculpts are evocative of Zaya’s. She’s also $650 (still pretty expensive, but at least doable imo) and has a layaway option. You can mod the elf ears into human ones, too.

I recently received some very nasty comments about one of my dolls,I put her away even though I like keeping her on display because I just can’t stand looking at her anymore.

I also feel discouraged to do anymore faceups because these comments have caused me to become incredibly embarrassed about my current skill level.

I really wish people weren’t so emboldened by the Internet

And I hope this isn’t the beginning of the end for me in this hobby.

I’m finally getting into the hobby after watching from the sidelines for a couple years. I’ve been an artist for years and am excited to start with a new medium, but I also have Tourette’s syndrome. I can’t control my movements very well and get violent twitches and jerks. The tics subside a bit when I’m focused on something, that’s how I’ve drawn for so long, but hearing people talk about the fragility of dolls and how easy it is to permanently ruin it makes me feel like I have no place in the community, or like I’m inherently a danger to my dolls. I’m excited to begin, but terrified I’m going to ruin everything.
