It’s said love goes wherever it pleases, and pleases wherever it goes. I don’t know about you, but i think love comes at times when you least expect it, at times when you least yearn for it and when you’re in total oblivion to it already approaching.
I love reading quotes on how people define love, because I myself had no clue how i intended on doing that. Reading other definitions allowed me to peek through the keyhole of a room I hope I’d enter one day- the room where that special someone would wait for me.
Little did I know, that room was at Learning Lab. Hah, anti-climatic as it sounds, but yes, that was it. A little thirteen year old me, what do I know? I wasn’t the sort to gush over boys but like any other kiddo, I did have an idea of what my dream guy would look like. Tall (excuse the shallowness), sweet, sensitive and someone I can wholeheartedly and truly call Mine.
Hours after hours, days after days, weeks after weeks, months after months…years after years. I always knew W. was there but I never thought much about him, till I started speaking to him. Stupid huh, four damn years to say “hi”.
But on hindsight, that was the best “hi”, because that was the start of everything.
Everything meant constant messaging, constant thinking and constant longing to see him again.
I was brought up with the typical singaporean thinking, studies came first. So of course i would decide that it was only after my education would I get together with him. And i did, after O’s, that is.
Till today, I have no regrets whatsoever. It sometimes pains me to imagine what it would be like if I had never taken the courage to say “hi”. Because of him, I sometimes wonder to myself how I can want to kick someone so hard and want to hug someone so hard at the same time. By that, I mean he’s painfully annoying, yet wonderfully sweet; a big pain-in-the ass, yet a big darling.
He has been my best friend, my best confidante and my best companion.
Because you know what, he’s finally the someone I can call Mine.
