someone I knew
i refuse to believe all 1000 tribbies had good names. we had to run out at like. 30. the remaining 970 are running around with names like trint or tricycle or trident. when the tribbies were dying off they just chose the well named ones to survive so no one remembers how stupid they sounded

@baloopy
the choice the movie made to make yoo joonghyuk completely useless and the choice to include guns were i assume two unrelated board meetings but i do really enjoy the implication that if yoo joonghyuk had access to guns he would suck at surviving infinitely more. guy who dodged the army draft and does not know gun safety at all <3

gotta stop slaying like that
stop. analyse that text through the lens of its author's intentions and original historical context. okay now take the author out back and kill them dead and analyse that text as though it were published by your mutual yesterday and is in direct conversation the contemporary discourse that's most relevant to your life. okay now pick your favorite angle of interpretation and come up with the strongest possible argument against it. now imagine that the text is your best friend and that it means you well and that you naturally give it every benefit of the doubt because you're on its side and you want the best for it. now imagine that the text wants you dead and it'll eat you if you don't eat it first. now pretend that you found this text locked away in a cave with no evidence of when or where it came from and you have to divine its meaning solely through its internal coherence and nothing else. okay now address the elephant in the room aspect of the text you've been ignoring because you find it boring or confusing or uncomfortable and become the number one expert on it. now spend forty minutes assigning all the characters dnd classes with at least three sentences of reasoning each. okay now do the cha cha slide.

ANAXAGORAS WOULD BE PART OF GENIUS SOCIETY AGENDA REAL
played chants of senaar—random thoughts on it (will be spoilers). for those that don’t know, it’s a puzzle/exploration game themed around learning new languages. first things first, the art design of the game is entirely amazing. it’s atmospheric. it’s stunning. each region has such a distinct feel. past the art, the worldbuilding is immaculate. the people feel so human and the structure of the society is communicated so well through little details (a card game with someone reveals the hierarchy of the society! how the elevators work reveal social structure!). love the world, loved piecing out the new language and having each region become more comprehensible and more human. the overarching theme of a common human thread across different people across widely different cultures is immaculate! which unfortunately is betrayed by the ending where instead of having something deeply human we unplug the evil computer. it sucks to have a 9/10 game so undermined by its ending. even the puzzles on the last section were lackluster and lacked that novel discovery of the previous regions. unfortunate end to a beautiful game
