thinking about a world where pantalone gets a vision after dottores death. pantalone, who has never been recognized by the gods. pantalone, who has dedicated his life to proving he is better than this. this pantalone gains the recognition of the gods after the one man he had loved and had replaced the gods in his life has died. i think he’d take it as a form of mocking but it’s something that erases his biggest insecurity. yet it comes too little too late and all the bitter hate in his heart can’t be washed away, not after dottores death.

dottore and sandrone as narrative mirrors where they’re both research obsessed selfish emotionally distant fatui harbingers but where dottore is a man consumed by his own ambition and self destructive to the max sandrone is lost and aimless trying to find something worth sacrifice for. and ultimately sandrone becomes someone who sacrifices herself for columbina while dottores death is only for himself because it would be better to die for ambition than live as a husk
