Meg and Balthazar : Tiny Umbrellas
Balthazar closed his eyes. The sound washed over him and scoured away last night's rain and dreariness. The soft clink of tables being cleared in the distance, the gentle footsteps of pedestrians, a woman humming in the distance. As much as the excesses of life enticed him, he was not so far gone as to not be able to enjoy these simple pleasures. The storm from last night had passed, for the moment, and one could enjoy a rare moment of London sunshine in St. James Park.
Not to mention the smells. Smog, dog shit, coffee strong enough to strip paint, and brimstone. He opened his eyes and turned around. "Hello dear." Balthazar said with a smirk.
"There is a saying," said Balthazar. "No matter what guise you wear, no matter what name you bear, I will know you anywhere. And by that I mean that I just said it and made it up." He looked the new arrival up and down before gesturing to the empty seat on the bench beside him. "Not our usual venue, but it seems every dive bar in town is hosting its own pet monster hunter these days."
He picked up the coffee cup and offered it to her, and as she reached for it, pulled it back for a moment, fishing into a pocket and depositing a small drink umbrella into the lid. "Cocktail umbrella truce? Just like old times in sin city?"
