I’m finally done with part 1 (a demo of sorts) of my pet project! The gist of it is, you, Cheng Xingyun, and your fox yao work partner have been tasked to investigate a case in a mountainous peach orchard where workers had been falling into a strange coma. Cue a lot of discussions about the development of folk beliefs across the dynasties.

Background knowledge of Shanhaijing, a passing knowledge of Chinese dynasties and general understanding of the concept of yaoguai is helpful. I didn’t write this VN for people who are completely new to the concepts presented.

I tried my best to explain things in the writing itself, but admittedly I might’ve gone into several rabbit holes. If anyone got lost any time in the story, I’d be really grateful if you’d let me know. I’ve been contemplating adding another section to the notebook, perhaps filled with background knowledge that might be helpful. Of course, though, you can always Google it, or message me (wink)
