The Holstien class was built as a large, powerful locomotive. In fact, when the first one was built, it was the largest on Madai - a fact the then-recently formed Capital Kingdom was very proud of.

In the current day, the focus has become on making trains as large as possible, with large locomotives to match. The goverment encourages this, as the Capital railways, espeically the trans-cordillera, have become a symbol of national pride. This race to the top is being called the steam war, and it's largely left the already dated Holstiens behind.

While they're no longer queen of the railway, Holsteins remain a reliable mid-sized engine that can do almost anything you need it to. In fact, the steam wars have benefited the Holsteins, if anything, as resources that should be spent on replacing it are instead dedicated to producing the biggest and strongest possible engines, which prove impractical for most jobs.

Still, some of the crews responsible for maintaining Holsteins wait impatiently for it to be replaced.

While most of Madai makes at least some use out of the Waffle-Type shunter engine, the railways are a huge source of pride for the Capital Kingdom, and it refuses to use foreign designs. The Lowline-Type locomotive was built as a direct replacement for the Waffle-Type.

Notably, the Lowline has four powered wheels, rather than the two most engines before it used. This proved effective, but the steam wars have resulted in large locomotives being over-prioritized, so this innovation is only really seen on huge express trains.

While designed for shunting, it's also sometimes used for short distance work, and to assist trains in climbing hills. In the mountainous Trans Cordilleran Railway, this proves to be in high demand.

Some alien weapon concepts! These are wielded by 2 therapod-like species, who can't wield human weapons very well due to their anatomy. As a result, the ergonomics here are a little different! The top two are energy weapons, and the bottom design is an airgun.

An industrial Helium harvester, orbiting a former ice giant. Its orbit was perturbed by a rouge brown dwarf, pushing it down near the star. Here, the temperature rose dramatically, and most of its hydrogen reserves have been blasted away by stellar radiation, leaving the heavier white helium atmosphere in its place. This helium atmosphere is still being stripped away by the star, and one day the planet will likely fully lose its atmosphere and become a Chthonian world.

Until then, the planet is a striking sight - looking almost like a gas giant sized comet. Its enormous trail has also become economically significant - it's one of the easiest ways to acquire helium.

One of my alters wanted to write a touhou au where reimu is plural, so i decided to check ao3 to see what other plural reimu fics are like, right? Like theres no way were the first plural to think to write plural reimu. Well I checked, for the good of our system, and apparently one, theres like five plural touhou fics on ao3, and two, it looks like we *are* the first people to think to make reimu plural because best we can tell she straight up isnt in any of them. So i guess were gonna be fucking pioneers now
