"Nā that thereās exactly yer problem."
"Oh yes, out of all the freaks, criminals, and lecherous blue men on this ship, I am surely the one with the problem."
"Iāve known trees with a better sense aā humor than you."
"IĀ apologise,Ā I don't quite find humor in this situation."
"Please, try not tā drool all over the carpet. One man can only handle so much affection.ā
"Why don't we skip to the part where I bargain to not be sold? That seems a bit more fun than flirting with a glorified bilgesnipe."
"Those clothes would look a whole lot better on the floor."
"As if I would ever remove them for the likes ofĀ you." Lucy eyed the Ravager with disgust.
Yelena grit her teeth, eyes scouring the face for a hint of something different, something to prove this person didn't actually have her face. That she was overreacting. Embarrassment aside, she would prefer that so much. For there to be someone who looked like her could only mean trouble of some sort.
"You have my face. Why?" Her words didnāt come out quite as strong as she would have liked them to, but her voice wasn't shaking, which was good enough.
She clenched her hands into fists to try and mask the shaking. She had to look like she was dangerous, otherwise things weren't going to go very well for her. Regret tugged at the back of her mind, but that wouldn't do her any good. Now she just had to stick with what sheād done and see where it took her.
"Who are you?" she asked again.
As Yelena studied them, Lucy was sizing her up; they really did not have the time to indulge more people in their paranoia. True, the two looked very similar, but as far as Lucy was concerned it was mere coincidence that their two forms were the same.
After noting the way nervousness clung to the other like a cobweb, Lucy spoke in the same distantly distasteful tone to reply: "Lucy Silver. Now are you finished with your babbling so I mayĀ leave?"
Perhaps they could have put it a bit more politely, but in all honesty they were quite ready to beg the All-Mother for imprisonment instead of this asinine existence.
For lokihiddleston, who asked me for a Loki in furā¦.thank you for the request! I really hope you like him as much as I do. :)
Thank you. I love it.

| Jarvis and Lucy
Rather than engaging Jarvis moved over to the audiobooks, the closest thing to the counter he could see without being suspicious. Heād have to try coming another day, perhaps get some more information then. For now he just needed to come up with an excuse for being here. It wasnāt like he really had any conceivable reason to be.
While trying to think of some excuse he continually glanced back at Lucy, covering the action with picking up a case to read the back. There was still something about them that seemed familiar. The more he thought about it the more he realized it wasnāt their appearance, it was the general way they held themselves. Heād definitely encountered them before, though he could swear the two of them hadnāt talked.
Thinking about it, Loki seemed to come to mind actually. But that wasnāt possible, right? There was no way a teenager could possibly - but it did fit. In a lot of ways it fit rather well. It wasnāt until someone started walking over that he realized he had been standing, staring at the same cover, for at least two minutes.
The more Jarvis stood there, the more needlessly nervous Lucy became. It was very clear he was staking them out, but why? They would have scolded themself for their lost cool, but that wouldn't help the sharp twist in their gut that told Lucy something was amiss.
Why would he need to watch them like this? Surely Lucy had given nothing away, they kept everything close and the All-Mother's advice closer. Where had they gone wrong? What had they missed? The god nervously twisted a pen cap in their hands. It was far too long until their shift was up, and a good walk until they could get to a place to talk to someone to help. Someone to take care of this Jarvis before he opened it all up and forced Lucy back into the kind of world they had come to avoid.
Fine. They would deal with Jarvis themself. Lucy strode over to him, placed a hand on the shelf beside him and said in their least friendliest tone, "May I help you?"
Do you mind helping me?
Calliope frowned as she received her books back, head cocked to the side. āThatās an interesting way of looking at itā you know, I choose āem because the kids learn the words and letters better when they like what theyāre reading, but I suppose thatās a definite shallow moral to some of these.ā
Most of them,Ā Lucy thought bitterly, before giving Calliope one last chilling smile. "Well, children may have their childhoods. They will need them." They turned on their heels and stalked over to the biographies- a way of running that was a bit less pathetic than an actual dash. By the All-Mother, they hated people like this.
| Jarvis and Lucy
Of course Jarvis looked into the mysterious young person after their meeting. The whole thing had just left him too uneasy to do anything else. If nothing else it would just confirm they were a normal teenage, right? And he would never have to worry about Lucy Silver again.
Except that wasnāt what even an hours worth of digging showed. As far as he could find they had little to no records, particularly outside America (where had they even said they were from?), and there was little to no activity on social media websites. As far as he could find, Lucy barely existed outside a barely active twitter account and a library job. Not the most wonderful evidence.
Of course he went to the library, hoping to catch a coworker or perhaps even a friend. He cursed quietly when he walked in and saw Lucy was the one there.
Lucy was busy re-shelving and ignoring any of the mildly confused college students around trying to get help from them. WhyĀ they had to work an extra shift was beyond them, and the flippantly lazy call Lucy had got from their coworker Aibern was no help at all.
The disgraced god shoved the cart back out near the tables and begrudgingly made their way back to the front desk to mope about until it was closing time. When the door made an offended creak Lucy turned, hoping it was their lazy 'friend' whom they could lecture and/or give the cold shoulder to.
Their eyes narrowed slightly when they recognized Jarvis and Lucy instantly turned their eyes back to the array of shelves, hoping he would not come up to her and strike up some meaningless conversation. They could only stand so much boredom before they were tempted to light something on fire.
{ it's close enough to monday for me to post this, right? no? oh well. }
It annoys me to the point of becoming absolutely livid when people take my museās hostility toward theirs as a reflection of my hostility toward them as a person. And then, of course, IāM the bad guy.
Do you mind helping me?
Calliope watched the librarian handle the stack with an odd mix of delicacy and disgust, and felt compelled to ask the reason for the pale, sourĀ face made at the books. āAh, do you mind,ā she started casually, āif I ask what the childrenās books ever did to you? Youāre looking at āem as if you have a big bad problem with them.ā
"I am no fan of superhero stories. I find them...repetitive and trite," Lucy explained bluntly, tucking a bit of of their wild black hair behind their ear. "Besides, there is nothing to be learned from the impossibly bright adventures of overly optimistic people, save for the fact if you are lucky and handsome enough the world will hand you anything you like."
