Bard Temple
“Angels” and “Demons” Prologue
Bard could remember the day perfectly when HE defected. The inner demon inside present in every being, even Bard himself.
“I, all of us, have come to the decision that you, Ideals, will not be needed in this world anymore. Your gifts to the world will only chain down the happiness of the beings who live in it by forcing your own, self-made ideals into their heads. That is not perfection, it is your own opinion of what is perfection and that cannot be what makes the world perfect. You are free to roam the Spirit World and visit the mortal plane as you wish, but you cannot force ideals unto any mortal being using the powers given to you. Now begone.” Chief said these words with a calm voice, but the reaction was anything but calm.
“The universe requires goals. Goals are what fuels us forward. Why must I be of no use?!” He, Ideals, was furious. Anger boiled inside of him. “Yes, but Sanity can give them the intellect to make their own goals Ideals. Your own goals make the universe an image of corrupt perfection,” Chief spoke. “You... that... YOU... YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME! MY VERY EXISTENCE, YOU HAVE TAKEN FROM ME!” Bard stared at Ideals from the sideline. Ideals punched into the ground of the Spirit World, cracks with black flames appearing. He had been broken.

Sorry about my inactivity… I logged in today to find some very upsetting news…
I thought it was just an untasteful joke, but unfortunately I was wrong…
Rest in piece, and thank you
Please excuse any mistakes on this, was not drawn for perfection
Cosmic Counsel
Swooshing and swirling of the air filled the room as a portal appeared. A loud sound of bells, chimes, and horns filled the room as Bard slowly appeared out of the hole. He didn’t have his mask on as he appeared as he was actually in Shurima when he was called. He was also still in his disguise. The air calmed as the portal disappeared. Bard spoke uncensored as he pointed to the guards.
“Those guards shouldn’t be needed Azir.”
He reached for his mask and put it on, the yellow glow appearing again and a wave of energy being released from Bard.
Azir stood still, an expression of childlike wonder beneath his helm, as the portal opened to the sound of mystical instruments. When Bard emerged the emperor was a tad…underwelmed. It’s not that the entrance wasn’t flashy enough he was simply expected a guardian of the cosmos to appear more grand. Shaking his head Azir removed the thought, it mattered not what appearance Bard took, what mattered is he answered the call.
“I am pleased to hear this caretaker.” Azir replied before tapping his staff on the ground. The guards gave a prompt salute before falling away into sand.
“I must thank you for answering my call, I have nothing but respect for your kind if what I have heard is true. If you are who I intended to bring than you should know why I called.” Turning away Azir began to move up the steps to depart from the chamber.
“Please, let us take this discussion somewhere more hospital than an empty chamber like this.”
Bard nodded and followed, with caution. He knew of most future's involving Azir, some better than others. One needed to happen however. As he followed, he wondered if Azir would ask him about the future. Probably. Bard, however, could not do this task alone if that was what he asked. Xerath's aura shrouded all of Shurima, so he would need someone else to defog the aura. Bard stopped and took out his horn, blowing into it. A portal appeared at the place where they were going and two other Caretakers stepped out. Out stepped Angel, a Caretaker with a pink glow, representing life. She looked like Bard, but was smaller and her mask instead had one huge hole in the middle. She would spread the aura. Then came Titan, a Caretaker much larger than Bard with a name fitting for his size. About three times the size of Bard, he had to kneel down to get through the portal. His mask only had two eye holes and no mouth, so he could not even make sounds. He would temporarily subdue the aura after Angel spread it. Bard and Azir continued, Bard waiting to get there before speaking at all.
The Rogue Caretakers- Malice, Dread, and Butcher
Some Caretakers go... astray when the power gets to their heads. These three, originally known as Ideals, Sanity, and Reaper, have been renamed Malice, Dread, and Butcher due to their evil actions towards destroying the universe. MALICE aka Luke Malice, originally Ideals, was used to create the goals for all beings in existence. However, in order for the universe to be perfect, not even a Caretaker must interfere with an ideals of a being. So, Luke was cast aside, let free to do what he wanted in his new state. He found this as if being fired, so he began, instead, planting seeds of malice into the minds of beings, causing them to sow seeds of discord in the universe. The universe was thrown into chaos. At that moment, evil was born. He can only plant seeds of malice in the minds of those already affected by another seed of malice. DREAD aka Yoa Dread, originally Sanity, was used to create the minds of beings, allowing them to think. Eventually, Angel became able to do this in the process of making things, but she let Sanity help in the process since Sanity was a master. Sanity found her role lessened and, eventually, fell into depression even through her mask's powers. It was hardly exciting creating the mind when someone created it with you. She began to expect that Angel would overtake her soon and she would become like Ideals and Reaper, or Malice and Butcher. Dreading that day, her work suffered from her emotional state and eventually Angel found that Sanity was placing innate sadness in beings. This caused Sanity to be forcefully removed as a Caretaker. Her fears becoming a reality, she became known as Dread and Malice planted the original seed of malice inside of her, causing her to use her to create many beings with innate malice inside them. BUTCHER aka Arcan Butcher, originally Reaper, had a simple downfall. Before the current Reaper, he was the one who allowed souls to pass on. However, he, for unknown reasons, became bloodthirsty over the ages, enjoying watching the state of dying. Eventually he began to actively kill beings. He was immediately sentenced to be banished, but escaped. He teamed with Malice and began wrecking havoc on the universe. All of the Rogue Caretakers reasons for becoming Caretakers were erased from history when they defected so no trace of them could be left.
Cosmic Counsel
Azir stood on the balcony of his personal chambers. He always enjoyed standing here, its elevation allowed for a constant, soothing breeze to pass by. It also overlooked a large portion of the capital, his capital. Night gripped the air as the sun had long since set, its sky filled with shimmering stars. Azir stared upon his empire in a form of self reflection. He cared greatly for his people, no one would question him on this.
However even with his new found powers of ascension to protect them with, he had many powerful enemies. Azir wondered if he was truly capable of protecting them, of restoring Shurima. He would never admit his doubt, he needed to keep up appearances to preserve hope among his people. Behind his helm however, he was worried. A emperor should not mull over such thoughts alone. It was time to seek counsel and with luck, answers.
“My lord, the ritual is prepared. We are ready to summon the Caretaker.” A voice spoke out in his chambers as a robed man rose from the ground out of sand. “The ritual serves only as a invitation, it is possible he may simply ignore us.”
“Let us hope that is not the case.” Azir replied, turning to face his informant. “Tonight, we summon Bard.”
Moving across the tiled floor Azir strolled down to a large chamber, below ground level of his palace. He did not know much of the Caretakers. Ancient Shuriman lore spoke of them and their cosmic power to right the wrongs of the universe. There was only one Caretaker the emperor was interested in though. He only knew two things about this one in particular. That he surfed the paths of time, both forward and back, and that his name was Bard.
The chamber itself was lite by torch light and was covered in various runic symbols, many of which were simply three dots gathered in a triangular formation. In the center of the room stood a large horn. It was this instrument that would hopefully reach across the cosmos and summon Bard here.
Moving to the instrument Azir looked around. Many guards were stationed all around, all ready to subdue anything that came through, just in case the cosmics weren’t feeling particularly friendly. It never hurt to be careful.
Raising his helm just enough to uncover his beak, Azir blew into the horn. A loud booming tone echoed across the walls as each of the symbols began to glow a shade of gold. Their glow signified that Bard heard the call. Now they simply had to wait and see if he answered.
Swooshing and swirling of the air filled the room as a portal appeared. A loud sound of bells, chimes, and horns filled the room as Bard slowly appeared out of the hole. He didn't have his mask on as he appeared as he was actually in Shurima when he was called. He was also still in his disguise. The air calmed as the portal disappeared. Bard spoke uncensored as he pointed to the guards.
"Those guards shouldn't be needed Azir."
He reached for his mask and put it on, the yellow glow appearing again and a wave of energy being released from Bard.

Bard hands Fiddles a bard mask to cover his face in the hood. The mask can only be removed by its wearer and is near indestructible as well.
“This… this could be of better use. Thanks Bard.”
Bard had like… twenty of them given to him. The least he could do was give one to a friend to help with their stuff. Bard waved his hand as if to say “Dont mention it.” He snapped his fingers and gave Fiddlesticks a piece of paper with the following message written on it. “The Sixteenth Mask of the Caretakers. Also known as the Mask of the Guardian. Near indestructible and can only be taken off by its user and other Caretakers. This mask in particular allows the user to sense malice and evil. Use with care. Sincerely, the Chief Caretaker.” Bard handed Fiddlesticks the note and poked it as if to read it.

As the note was given to him, he reads it for awhile before looking up at Bard and nodded afterwards. “I will keep this in mind when I… err.. watch over my daughters.”
Bard nodded and gave Fiddlesticks two thumbs up. Bard wrote down, "If you need me, I'll be in Shurima. I should be back for the wedding." With that, Bard jumped into a portal and was gone.
Power, Greed, Obstacle
“…‘Obstacle?’ In what way, Caretaker?”
Bard continued, “That is true, but I have the powers and friends to make the timeline be perfect for the universe. The vision of perfect is, however, never achievable. So we try to make every instance of the universe as perfect as possible until, maybe one day, it may be perfect for every being in the universe. Even if that takes trillions upon trillions of years.” He stopped because even this revealed a lot of his true motives. “Also, Xerath, get rid of the ego. Trust me. You may be a god among men, but it never helps one’s self to be cocky as the unexpected strikes when you least expect it. Over used, but true.”
“You mock me, Vagabond?” The Magus made a noise of disgust. “I imagine it difficult to accept that a mere mortal could rise to, or even beyond your level… But I the will of man, unbound by flesh; the limitations of the physical plain are beneath me, and I can see the very forces that bind the universe together! I am what all mortals strive to be, even if they do not realize it. If I am not the perfect being, then I am close enough.”
Bard was silent for a minute before slowly beginning to chuckle. It sounded like bells clanging. He wrote down, "Alright, alright... then you must know about the other ones right? The other Caretakers and not just me correct? Since you can see the fabrics of life and the universe right? You know how those were made right? Xerath, the fact that you think that is what makes you so imperfect. Your arrogance will kill you one day... You know what Xerath? You are pretty high and mighty right? You want to prove your might against the most powerful being in the cosmos? Because I heard they were getting a tiny bit bored lately. And no Xerath, that is not you or me." Bard continued to chuckle.
Chief always did like to play. Angel would have to come too afterwards as well to clean up the mess. He would also have to open a time bubble, but it would be worth it. If Xerath went through with it, it might slow down his plans to kill or overtake Azir.
