But whatever choice insult the offended crustacean had in mind Ariel was one step ahead, swiping him up clumsily - the muffled sound of retaliation against her fingers.

Eyes wide, Ariel gulped and attempted a look of normalcy, though all she managed was a toothy grin that was both guilty and slightly maniacal as she shoved Sebastian behind her, as if there was nothing to see. No, nothing at all! "Chameleon? Um, no! No chameleon here!"

“Heh.

{ ❀ } —— Her brows furrowed as she looked at the redhead in front of her. She was acting... a bit funny, at least as far as Rapunzel was concerned, and she wasn't entirely sure why. The princess felt as if she was being left out of some important information again -- like she wasn't smart or experienced enough to handle whatever it was.

"Oh, okay," she said, the puzzled look still on her face. "Well... if you happen to come across a chameleon named Pascal, could you let me know? We're playing hide and seek, and he's getting particularly good at the hiding part."

"Yikes!" The small handyman fell backwards in surprise. He only just stepped through the game archway (set to go to a random land again), so he wasn’t expecting to have someone jump out and shout at him.

"Chameleon?" Felix asked as he reached for his cap, which had fallen off from his tumble. "No, no… not a chameleon, miss." He stood up and held his cap in his hands and smiled up at the brunette.

"You sure did scare the code out of me!" he said with a chuckle.

{ ❀ } —— "Oh my gosh," she exclaimed, rushing to his side to ensure he wasn't injured. Instinctively, she grabbed at her hair in the hopes of healing any possible injuries. Fingers only found short locks and she was reminded once more of the fact that her once powerful hair was now... ordinary.

Shaking her head, she brought herself out of her thoughts and back to the stranger. "Are you okay? I didn't mean to scare you. I'm really sorry about that. I just, I thought you were my friend..." she tried to explain hurriedly, while simultaneously giving him a once over to see if there was anything visibly wrong. Not that she would be able to help him much herself -- but the castle did have some very nice physicians.

[[ I'm here, I promise. Activity has been a bit slower for me because I've been prepping for the new school year, which is coming up soon. I'm so sorry about that. Real life sucks. ]]

{ ❀ } —— Slipping her feet out from her shoes, Rapunzel tapped a silent rhythm against the cold floor with her bare toes. She was so close to finishing her lessons for the day, and couldn’t wait to make her way outside where the sun was shining brightly, the birds were singing, the flowers blooming, and her best friend was waiting for her to play a game of hide and seek. Glancing out the window every few seconds, she hardly let her tutor finish telling her what to work on before their next lesson before she was hurrying from the room and towards the large front doors.

Pascal was waiting for her, she just knew it. They had made a deal that as soon as she was finished with her princess-y duties, he would be ready for her. The only question was: where had he chosen as his first hiding place?

Hearing a rustle behind her, a confident smile spread across her face. “Aha!” she cried out, spinning around, ready to catch her reptilian friend. Only — it wasn’t Pascal who was behind her.

"Oh," she spoke again, tucking her short hair behind her ears only to have it fall back into place. "You’re not a chameleon…"

Phoebus chuckled.  ”I think as long as I don’t need to visit the armory, I would like to see whatever a native to the kingdom thinks is best.  I’ve seen enough war, for once, why not ocean or a beautiful apple?”  

"You shouldn’t ever be sorry for having passion about your home," Phoebus replied.  "In hard times, it may be one of the only things that can keep you going."

{ ❀ } —— "No armories, then!" she assured him, making a gesture in midair as if she was crossing something off a list. That wasn't even a very interesting place to her. Not when there was so much natural beauty to see. And besides, it was usually really stuffy and smelled kind of funny to really appeal to the princess's taste.

She gave an appreciative smile when he spoke again. She clasped her hands in front of her and gave a light shrug. "I've been told it's not a very princess-y thing to do. 'A princess should be precise and know exactly what she is going to say before she begins speaking,'" she imitated, using her best tutor voice.

Do you think you'll ever grow your hair out again?

{ ❀ } ---- Rapunzel toyed with the short strands, wrapping the hair around her fingers. "Um -- I don't know," she answered, phrasing it more as a question than a statement. She hadn't really thought about it, to be quite honest. Yes, she had thought about her hair and the change she had to grow accustomed to (even still, she sometimes stood up with too much force that had her thrown off balance, or lay awake at night unable to sleep without the hair to curl around her frame). But she hadn't considered the fact that it could grow out again.

"Maybe. I mean, even if I do grow it out, it wouldn't be the same. It wouldn't be magical or blonde, and it probably wouldn't get as long... But I guess I wouldn't mind having more length."

"Corona-" Phoebus said, letting the word roll off his tongue.  Well, he was definitely off-map now.  He was glad he hadn’t brought Achilles with him on this trip. His horse, God love him, often got very skittish in new places.

"Well, at least its a kingdom.  But I wonder what kind of kingdom," Phoebus muttered to himself.  

Looking at the young woman, he smiled, nodding his head in a slight bow.  ”I’m headed well, I suppose, to Corona then.  I didn’t have a particular destination in mind.  I’m trying to see the world and this is definitely a part of the world I’ve never seen before.”

{ ❀ } ---- Rapunzel nodded as he repeated her answer, confirming that he was, indeed, in her kingdom. She was excited at the prospect of a newcomer. It was still a new idea to her. Sure, there were a couple dignitaries that had paid a visit since she had returned home, but those were always such stuffy and boring affairs, filled with stuffy and boring people. No one was here to judge her actions now, and it was liberating.

"Well, then, Corona welcomes you! You've really picked a great place to visit. Have you been down to the docks? The water is so blue and sparkly. Ooh, and you just have to take a tour of the castle -- or maybe the marketplace would be a better place to start? That's what I did, anyway."

She paused then, realizing she'd gone off rambling again. Shoving the short hair away from her face, she gave an apologetic smile. "Oops, sorry. I tend to talk a lot when I get excited."

"There is no easy way to say this," Phoebus said as he folded up his map and looked around," but I am very lost.  Could you tell me where I am?"
